A video emerged online showing a car with an L-plate beating the red light at a pedestrian crossing, with the instructor also being on board the vehicle.

The incident happened on 22 February at about 2.28pm and was captured on the dashcam of a car that was behind the L-plate vehicle.

Drivers found guilty of failing to conform to traffic light signals face a composition fine of $400 for light vehicles and $500 for heavy vehicles.
