A cat found itself trapped on the ledge of the HDB building’s ledge as a result.

The SCDF said that they received a call for assistance at about 3.05 pm.

The fire took place at Block 106 Bedok Reservoir Road and was extinguished by the SCDF using a water jet.

40 residents nearby evacuated themselves prior to the arrival of the SCDF and one person suffered minor injuries from the fire, however that person declined to be conveyed to the hospital.

Caught Pritam Singh’s attention

Leader of the Opposition Pritam Singh then shared a Facebook post about the fire, sharing his thoughts on the matter.

He said:

“I received word of a fire at Blk 106 in the Eunos ward of Aljunied GRC this afternoon.

Fortunately, there were no injuries, and the fire was quickly brought under control by the Singapore Civil Defence Force.

Thankful to the team from the Singapore Police Force who managed the incident site.

Post-fire investigations are ongoing and the Aljunied-Hougang Town Council team and our term contractors are on-site assisting.

There is an outstanding matter – we need to secure a poor cat – help is on the way.

I understand an alert next-door neighbour raised the alarm before the fire became grew too large, probably averting a block evacuation and more damage. As with each fire incident, this is another reminder to be familiar with fire safety guidelines.”

Cat brought to safety

Facebook user Hana Amin Yunn then shared a Facebook update on the situation of the cat, who has since been brought to safety.

In her Facebook post, a man could be seen at the window armed with a large net to “catch” the cat and bring it to safety, much to the raucous cheers of the onlookers.

The cat has also been reunited with its owner, according to the Animal and Veterinary Service (AVS).
