FORKLIFT DRIVER WHO REVERSED INTO MAN & CAUSED LEG AMPUTATION, JAILED 2 WEEKS

0

On November 29, 2022, a tragic forklift accident occurred in Quality Road, near Jalan Boon Lay, resulting in life-altering consequences for Mr. Mohd Hanafiah Abdul Jalil.

The incident involved a forklift driver, Ang Sam Poh, who failed to properly check the area behind the vehicle while reversing, leading to a collision with Mr. Hanafiah, according to The Straits Times.

What happened?

The unfortunate event took place at around 11:30 am when Mr. Hanafiah, a prime mover driver delivering milk powder, had parked his vehicle, loaded with pallets of milk powder. Ang Sam Poh was operating a forklift to unload the pallets.

As Ang carried out his duties, Mr. Hanafiah was pacing around five to seven meters behind the forklift. Regrettably, Ang failed to stop and assess the path behind the forklift for any obstructions. Instead, he focused solely on the pallets of milk powder on the prime mover.

Without realizing that Mr. Hanafiah was behind him and to the right of the forklift, Ang reversed the vehicle. Tragically, the forklift ran over Mr. Hanafiah’s left leg, causing a severe crush injury. Despite the immediate response to assist him, the damage to his leg was irreparable, and he had to undergo an above-knee amputation at the National University Hospital.

Following the accident, Ang Sam Poh pleaded guilty to causing grievous hurt to Mr. Hanafiah by performing a negligent act. In the court’s ruling, Ang was sentenced to two weeks’ imprisonment as a consequence of his actions.

The forklift accident that led to Mr. Mohd Hanafiah Abdul Jalil’s life-changing injury is a stark reminder of the importance of safety in all aspects of life.

Negligence and carelessness can have severe consequences, and it is crucial for everyone, be it employers or employees, to prioritize safety at all times.

By taking proactive measures and fostering a culture of responsibility, we can strive to prevent such accidents and create a safer environment for everyone.

K.SHANMUGAM SAYS HE DIDN’T TIP OFF ANYONE ABOUT LEON PERERA’S EX-DRIVER

0

Following the emergence of the viral video showing Leon Perera and Nicole Seah having an intimate dinner date at an unnamed restaurant, AsiaOne published an interview on 18 July with Perera’s former driver, who exposed the latter’s various dinner dates and hotel visits with Seah.

The following day, The Online Citizen Asia published an article titled “AsiaOne’s quick access to Leon Perera’s former driver: Coincidence or calculated move?”

The article seemingly insinuated that the Minister of Law and Home Affairs could have tipped off an employee of AsiaOne about the driver, and Shanmugam has since issued a public statement denying the allegations and calling TOCA out for “publishing recklessly”.

Shanmugam’s public statement on Facebook

[False post by The Online Citizen Asia]

TOCA has put up a post, today, which is false in relation to me.

First there is a suggestion that an employee of AsiaOne, Edmund Chua used to work in my Constituency. That is so. The innuendo is that I must have tipped off Edmund to contact the ex driver of Mr Perera, and that is how Asia One managed to get him.

This is false. I do not know the ex driver, I do not have his contact or name, and I did not tip off or give any information on the ex driver to anyone including AsiaOne – I have no such information. And I haven’t dealt with or spoken with Edmund Chua about this matter at all.

TOCA refers to a visit to I made to AsiaOne. It was not days before the video surfaced . I wasn’t even in Singapore for a week, until the evening of 17 July (Monday).

I visited AsiaOne on 13 June, to speak with its journalists. I also visited Mothership, in the same period, on 22 June. This is part of my regular engagement with a broad section of society, including public and private institutions, schools, IHLs, journalists from mainstream and online media and so on.

TOCA continues to publish recklessly, without any regard for the truth.

Woman’s Husband’s previous appeal for witnesses

Accident between cyclist (male Caucasian in late teens to 20s) and pedestrians (woman and 2-year-old child) at East Coast Park shared path beside East Coast Lagoon Food Village on 25 June 2023 at 3pm.

Appeal for witnesses and information on culprit’s identity/whereabouts.

*Admin, please delete if post is deemed inappropriate*

On 25 June 2023 (Sunday), my family (wife, 4-year old son, and 2-year old daughter) and I were taking a stroll at East Coast Park on the shared path at the extreme left outside East Coast Lagoon Food Village. This was towards the direction of the Singapore Wake Park. At about 3pm, a male cyclist on a road bike suddenly crashed into my family from the back at high speed. The impact caused my wife and daughter to be injured. My wife fell backwards and hit her head and back on the ground, while my young daughter fell face front. Both were hospitalised.

The culprit is a Caucasian and likely to be in his 20s with blond hair with a height of about 1.75 to 1.8m. He identified himself to be a British and mentioned that his name was “George”. The culprit apologised profusely and said that the injuries wouldn’t be too serious. I requested his contact number as I told him that he needed to be responsible for the matter. He gave me two numbers – one being a local number (88736715), while the other being a UK number (+44757777262). He appeared sincere in wanting to take responsibility. He even corrected me when I keyed in his UK number incorrectly which made the situation even more convincing. I trusted him (which was a mistake) as my focus back then was to quickly rush my family to the hospital for medical attention.

After checking my family into a nearby hospital – Parkway East Hospital, I attempted to contact George. However, his local number is never turned on, while his UK number is invalid. I have reported the accident to the police as this involved bodily injuries. The police established that this is a case of rash act / negligence and is a criminal offence. My wife has a fracture in her tailbone, while my daughter has abrasions all around her body including her face. Being a 2-year old child, my daughter has also been badly traumatised with a change in her behaviour – more withdrawn and easily irritable. Investigations are underway.

The purpose of my post is twofold: –

1) If you have witnessed the accident and know the identity and/or whereabouts of the culprit, please PM me or contact me on *phone number redacted*. Your identity will be kept strictly confidential. The culprit was cycling on a roadbike with a partner on another bike. Both are Caucasians in their late teens to 20s. Both were topless and wearing dark coloured shorts. The culprit suffered some abrasions to his limbs because of the accident. Your help is most appreciated as this would expedite investigations.

2) If you are the culprit, man up and take responsibility for your actions. Giving false information, especially after you have caused harm to a lady and a child? You ought to be ashamed of yourself. The police have access to CCTVs around the park. You have the choice of voluntarily surrendering yourself and sleeping in peace at night. Otherwise, be prepared for embarrassment if you get arrested at your residence, workplace, school, immigration checkpoint (if you decide to flee), etc.

PRITAM SINGH ON WP’S SCREENING PROCESS AFTER RECENT SCANDALS – “WE TRY TO BE RIGOROUS”

0

The Workers’ Party (WP) chief Pritam Singh said on Wednesday that they have always been dedicated to putting forth candidates who can genuinely represent Singapore and its people.

In light of recent events involving the resignations of Aljunied GRC MP Leon Perera and senior party member Nicole Seah due to an extramarital affair, the party chief addressed the issue during a media conference.

He emphasized that the WP will continue its efforts to find the best candidates while being transparent and true to the values held dear by the party.

Upholding Integrity in Candidate Selection

Mr. Pritam Singh, who is also the Leader of the Opposition, acknowledged that candidate selection is a crucial process for the party. The WP makes every effort to thoroughly vet potential candidates, gathering as much information as possible to ensure their suitability.

However, it’s challenging to predict candidates’ actions and decisions after they become representatives of the party.

The recent revelations about the extramarital affair involving the two resigned members brought about a moment of reflection for the WP.

Mr. Singh recognized that improvements can be made in the candidate selection guidelines. The party is committed to being as rigorous as possible within its means, aiming to present individuals who will proudly represent Singapore and serve effectively as parliamentarians.

Upholding Party Values

The WP has long held the value of honesty and frankness in its Constitution, which it considers essential in its interactions with both the party members and the people of Singapore.

Any breach of this core value is treated seriously, and consequences are applied accordingly. In Mr. Leon Perera’s case, he offered his resignation in light of the affair, but Mr. Singh asserted that he would have recommended his expulsion if the resignation hadn’t been tendered.

The party’s unwavering commitment to upholding its values serves as a strong foundation for maintaining public trust and confidence.

By holding its members and candidates accountable to these principles, the WP strives to present a responsible and credible image to the electorate.

Learning from Past Experiences

The resignations of three candidates in the last two years (including Raeesah Khan who was caught lying in Parliament) have prompted the WP to evaluate its screening process.

Each episode offers valuable lessons and opportunities for the party to refine its procedures and protocols continually.

While no process can be completely foolproof, the WP is dedicated to making improvements and learning from past experiences to better serve Singapore and its citizens.

As the WP prepares for the next election, the search for competent and capable candidates is an ongoing process.

The party actively engages with Singaporeans from all walks of life through house visits and ground activities. This direct engagement with the public ensures that the WP understands the needs and aspirations of the people, enabling them to present candidates who can genuinely represent the interests of Singaporeans.

Mr. Singh’s assurance that the party will continue to search for candidates who bring something valuable to the table reflects the WP’s commitment to its mission.

The aim is to instill public confidence in the WP as a responsible and trustworthy political entity that strives to serve the nation’s interests.

GUY PRINT HIS FACE ON HIS LUGGAGE SO NOBODY WILL DARE STEAL IT AT AIRPORT

Traveling can be both exciting and challenging, especially when it comes to identifying your suitcase among a sea of similar bags on airport conveyor belts. While some travelers resort to simple tricks like using bright-colored suitcases or tying ribbons, one innovative Thai designer took a more amusing and foolproof approach to make sure nobody steals his luggage.

On July 13, Thai designer, realhun, took to TikTok to showcase his brilliant idea of personalizing his suitcase. The video quickly went viral, amassing more than 1.6 million views within a few days, leaving viewers in stitches.

Print his own face on it

As the conveyor belt at an undisclosed airport brings realhun’s suitcase into view, the hilarious masterpiece comes to life.

The design is none other than a giant selfie of the man himself, wearing a casual black t-shirt. The sheer audacity and creativity of this approach are both impressive and amusing.

Adding to the humor, the video’s caption reads “55555555555,” which may seem puzzling to those unfamiliar with Thai culture. In the Thai language, the number 5 is pronounced “ha,” so the caption essentially translates to “hahaha.”

While the top surface of the suitcase flaunts the selfie design, there’s more to this hilarious travel companion. A teasing sliver of brown peeking out from the luggage’s underside suggests the possibility of another self-portrait, mirroring the one displayed on the top.

With realhun’s keen eye for detail, it’s entirely likely that both sides of the suitcase depict his face, ensuring a good laugh from anyone who spots it.

In a world where travel can sometimes be tedious and monotonous, realhun’s hilarious and ingenious idea to customize his suitcase with a larger-than-life selfie has brought a much-needed dose of humor to the airport terminals.

Netizens’ comments

MAN DUCK TAPES HIS KKJ TO PREVENT ITCHY GF FROM ‘EATING’ HIM AT NIGHT

0

A man shared how his girlfriend is like a beast and has been forcing him to engage in nighttime activities.

Here is the story:

I have a gf who has a very high s drive. Until she needs it a few times a day and doesn’t let me sleep at night. I am a shift worker 12 on 12 off, sleep is the most important thing for me. Working 12 hours means I spend 2-3 hours a day travelling, showering when going to and coming back from work.

So today before coming home I borrowed some duck tape from my workplace and brought it to me when I shower.

After showering I duck tape my ‘holy blade’ and I wear my pants and go prepare for bedtime.

I know she will suddenly pounce on me at night like a raging animal and give me a surprise B job when I’m sleeping.

So the tape will prevent her from doing it, but i woke up around 2 hours later from pain, she forcefully tear off the duck tape which made some of my skin to come out as well.

This is the end of the line, if you want this kind of gf you can have her. Her Instagram is St****_***

MAN KAYSIAO WALKS INTO REVERSING CAR @ BEDOK & FALLS DOWN, DEMANDS $100 FROM DRIVER

In a bizarre incident that occurred on July 14 at around 5:45 pm, a driver in Bedok had a peculiar encounter with a man attempting to scam him while parking his car.

The driver, Chan Ti Eu, aged 44, captured the incident on his car’s dashcam, providing evidence of the alleged scam attempt.

What happened

As Chan Ti Eu was reversing his car into a parking lot, he heard a continuous beeping sound, indicating an obstacle behind his vehicle.

Upon checking the rearview mirror, he noticed a man dressed in a grey shirt crossing the parking lot. Responding quickly, Chan applied the brakes to avoid any potential collision.

However, the man continued to walk forward, seemingly waving to someone on the side, and unexpectedly collided with the car. The “impact” sent him tumbling backward, with his legs briefly suspended in the air as he fell dramatically.

Chan Ti Eu documented the peculiar incident in a video titled “How I almost got scammed in a carpark.” He shared this video on his Facebook page two days after the encounter, on July 16.

Upon exiting his car to check on the man, Chan found him lying on the ground, moaning in pain, with a fake graze on his right knee.

The man identified himself as a cleaner and asserted that he had rushed over to the car park to assist another individual.

He blamed Chan for knocking him down but insisted on avoiding involving the police, requesting monetary compensation instead. He claimed that he needed money to visit a doctor for his injuries.

When Chan offered the man S$50 for medical expenses, the man surprisingly demanded S$100 instead. Sensing something amiss, Chan offered to share his contact details so the man could provide the medical bill later.

However, the man refused, stating he had no money for the consultation in the first place. This refusal raised Chan’s suspicions, prompting him to review the dashcam footage to verify the incident.

Lacking a card reader to access the footage, Chan called his sister, who lived nearby, for assistance. While waiting, the man vanished from the scene, adding further weight to the suspicion that he might have been attempting to scam the driver.

After reviewing the dashcam footage, Chan noticed that the man appeared to deliberately ignore the approaching car and that the vehicle was stationary when the collision occurred.

Convinced that he had narrowly avoided falling victim to a scam, Chan immediately reported the incident to the police.

Providing them with the evidence captured on the dashcam, he hoped that this information would help the authorities investigate and prevent any similar scams in the future.
