OLD MAN PATTED WOMAN’S 3 Y.O DAUGHTER ON THE HEAD @ OLD AIRPORT RD FOOD CTR, GETS SCOLDED

0

Old people touching your kids

Having dinner with my family at old airport hawker today and this man walked past my table and patted my 3 year old daughter on her head.

I told him YOU CANNOT DO THAT (你不可以摸她 in mandarin) and then he retorted why not (为什么不可以 in mandarin) and this went on to and fro for a bit until he started shouting vulgarities and walked off.

My daughter was scared stiffed, she is usually super shy with strangers. I explained to her I was scolding the man for touching her.

Now looking back I’m reconsidering my actions. Did I do more damage to my daughter by causing her unnecessary distress? On the other hand I also know that she absolutely doesn’t like strangers touching or speaking to her.

Would appreciate if parents can share their experiences because I believe this is a common occurrence. Thank you.

Netizens’ comments

  1. I think u are doing the right thing. It is very important for kids to remember that they should not be touched by strangers. It’s their personal space and we need to help them guard the boundary.
I rem during covid, there was an auntie who wanted to sit right next to my kid. But my kid is normally the “dao” type and he will speak up for himself. He just tell her, auntie, now got covid. Pls keep the safe distance of 1.5m. Then the auntie just try to chat with him sitting from a distance.
But I rem he kind of offended an old uncle who tried to ask him, boy which sch are you from? he refused to answer the old uncle then the old man very persistent, keep asking him why he cannot tell him. In the end my boy got upset and look at him, this is personal information!
  2. A stranger touching your kid, no matter how innocent, is a big no no. People sometimes forget that children have their personal space that we have to respect too. Imagine if a stranger went up to the old man and patted him on his head because they thought he was cute.
That being said, I wouldn’t have shouted at him. I would’ve simply said “She doesn’t like being touched.” in a friendly manner. I’ve seen old ladies on the MRT pinching the cheeks of young children they don’t know. It’s likely their way of saying the kid is cute. I feel like the old man’s reaction was probably because he thought your anger was unwarranted.

TAN CHUAN JIN RESIGNED OVER “EXTRA-MARITAL AFFAIR” WITH MP CHENG LI HUI

Following the announcement of former Speaker of Parliament Tan Chuan Jin’s resignation from his post as the Speaker and from the People’s Action Party (PAP), there have been new updates and revelations on the situation.

According to Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Tan had been in an “inappropriate relationship” with fellow PAP MP Cheng Li Hui, who has also resigned from her position, despite being asked to stop, according to reports by The Straits Times and Channel NewsAsia.

Tan, 54, is married with two children while Cheng, 47, is still single.

PM Lee spoke during a press conference and said that he talked to Tan about his relationship with Cheng back in February, and that Tan had offered to resign at the time after admitting that he made a mistake.

PM Lee added that he accepted Tan’s resignation but he needed to make sure that the Kembangan-Chai Chee and Marine Parade residents needed to be taken care of first.

He also added that in the meantime, Tan had to stop her “inappropriate relationship” with Cheng.

However, PM Lee then found out “very recently” that Tan and Cheng had continued their relationship despite being asked to stop.

It was also at the same period that the now-infamous “unparliamentary language” saga came about, where Tan was caught on the mic in parliament muttering “f-ing populist” after Jamus Lim’s speech.

PM Lee had asked to see Tan to discuss about his conduct in parliament as well as his inappropriate relationship with Cheng, which PM Lee described as “he had told me he would break off but he did not.”

The relationship was deemed to be more serious than Tan’s vulgar comments in Parliament because Cheng was a Member of Parliament while Tan was Speaker of Parliament, and PM Lee said that there should not have been a relationship.

PM Lee also added that he was first made aware of the relationship between Tan and Cheng after the General Election 2020, and that the two were spoken to and counseled.

What happened?

The incident took place in Kluang, where the accused, Mohd Hashim Saidin, 77, and his son, Muhammad Firdaus Abdullah, 21, were involved in the alleged crime.

The charges state that on 25th May 2017, at 5.15 pm, Muhammad Firdaus, who was 16 years old at the time, reportedly raped a 15-year-old teenage girl on Jalan Kinabalu, Kluang, as reported by Berita Harian.

Subsequently, it is alleged that Mohd Hashim committed the same heinous act on the same victim at 6 pm on the same day. The incident occurred in an open area near Kampung Abdul Rahman Yasin, Kluang, inside the same car.

S’PORE SPRINTER SHANTI PEREIRA BECOMES FASTEST WOMAN IN ASIA, WINS GOLD @ 200M RACE

0

In an awe-inspiring display of speed and skill, Singapore’s track sensation, Shanti Pereira, has once again etched her name in history by clinching the gold medal at the Asian Athletics Championships’ 200m event in Bangkok on Jul. 16.

Pereira’s astounding time of 22.70 seconds not only secured her victory but also shattered the meet record, leaving her competitors in her dust.

India’s Jyothi Yarraji and China’s Li Yuting were both left trailing in the wake of Pereira’s extraordinary performance.

Jyothi Yarraji secured the silver medal with a time of 23.13 seconds, while Li Yuting took the bronze with a timing of 23.25 seconds.

Breaking records left, right and centre.

Shanti Pereira’s success at the Asian Athletics Championships was not an isolated incident. Just two days before her spectacular 200m triumph, she had already set the track on fire with her record-breaking win in the 100m event.

Pereira clocked an astonishing time of 11.20 seconds, rewriting the national record for the sixth time in 2023.

The year 2023 has been nothing short of a fairy tale for Shanti Pereira. Not content with just national records, she aimed for and achieved greater heights.

At the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games held in Cambodia earlier in the year, Pereira delivered a breathtaking performance in the 200m event, setting a new meet record of 22.69 seconds.

In May 2023, she scripted history by becoming the first Singaporean woman to clinch a sprint double at the same edition of the SEA Games.

Minister Edwin Tong reacts

I think we have all run out of superlatives for Shanti.

Irrepressible, amazing, scintillating, historic.

The SEA Games double sprint Champion was all that and more as she made it a Double Double – bagging the Gold in both the 100m and 200m at the Asian Athletics Championships (AAC) in Bangkok.

Not only did she clinch the Gold, she re-wrote the 200m AAC meet record today, crossing the line in exhilaration with her time of 22.70 eclipsing the previous record set in 2019. Shanti was the only sub 23sec finisher in the Final, with her blistering pace at the bend burning off her opponents who trailed in her wake by some distance.

Just to put things in perspective – Shanti had just won the Gold in the 100m a few days ago at the AAC, with a time of 11.20 earning her a new National Record. Both her times in the 100m and the 200m would have won the Gold at the 2018 Jakarta Asian Games.

She has had an unbelievable year so far, and I am quietly confident and hoping that she will finish the year on a high. Wishing Shanti all the very best as she continues to defy the superlatives. Go Shanti Go!!!

    PRIME MINISTER’S OFFICE

Tan Chuan Jin’s letter to PM Lee

Dear Prime Minister Lee,

I am writing to resign as a member of the People’s Action Party, and to inform you of my resignation as Speaker of Parliament and Member of Parliament (MP) for Marine Parade GRC with immediate effect.

Recently, I made a mistake in Parliament when I uttered words which were rude and unparliamentary in nature. This was wrong and I have apologized publicly for it. I have also spoken to the MP concerned to convey my apologies. Deservedly, there has been much disquiet over my remarks. Many felt that I was not impartial. Others felt that it was conduct unbecoming of a Speaker of Parliament. Some have also called for my resignation.

When such mistakes happen, all Members, myself included, will have to apologize and withdraw their comments. However, as Speaker, I should have known better and held myself to higher standards. The issue at hand isn’t just about the mistake itself. My mistake raised broader questions over my neutrality and impartiality as Speaker. The credibility of Parliament and the Chair is critical and cannot be compromised.

For me personally, this recent episode has added to the hurt I have caused my family. I have let them down. We have spoken about my personal conduct before. There are areas where I have fallen short. I need to take responsibility for them, and help heal my family. We need space to recover and work through the issues. I have discussed the matter with my wife and agreed I must step away from politics and devote myself to my family.

I apologize to my fellow Singaporeans, residents, volunteers, colleagues and friends for having let them down.

I am deeply grateful for your leadership, support and guidance over the years, as I am for the friendship and cooperation of my fellow MPs in Parliament.

PM Lee’s reply

Dear Chuan Jin,

Thank you for your letter asking to resign from the People’s Action Party, and for informing me of your decision to step down as Speaker of Parliament and Member of Parliament for Marine Parade GRC.

I appreciate your admission that you have fallen short in the matter of your personal conduct, and understand your desire to step away from politics and help heal your family. I have spoken to you previously on this. You admitted that what you did was wrong and offered to resign. I accepted, with your resignation to take place after I had made arrangements to continue to take care of the residents in Marine Parade GRC and your own Kembangan-Chai Chee ward.

As for your recent remarks in Parliament, you have apologised both publicly and to the Member of Parliament (MP) concerned, and the MP has accepted your apology. But your uttering them as Speaker In the Chair made this a more serious matter.

1 am saddened that you are not leaving politics In happier circumstances. But your resignation is necessary, to maintain the high standards of propriety and personal conduct which the PAP has upheld all these years.

I therefore accept your resignation from the People’s Action Party with immediate effect.

I thank you for having been a member of my PAP team, and wish you and your family all the best in your next phase of life.

Upon receiving the alert, SCDF firefighters were dispatched to the scene promptly. On arrival, they found the flames engulfing the bedroom in a unit on the seventh floor. S’PORE REFRESHING NATIONAL STOCKPILE, MOH GIVING OUT 6 COVID TEST KITS TO ALL HOUSEHOLDS

0

The Ministry of Health (MOH) will be distributing 6 Antigen Rapit Test kits (ART) to all households in Singapore as the country looks to refresh their national stockpile.

The distribution will take place from today (17 July) to 30 September.

MOH Press Release

FIFTH ROUND OF NATIONWIDE ANTIGEN RAPID TEST KIT DISTRIBUTION TO BEGIN ON 17 JULY

The Ministry of Health (MOH) will distribute COVID-19 Antigen Rapid Test (ART) kits to all residential households from 17 July to 30 September 2023. Each household will receive six ART tests.

  1. The ART kits will be drawn from our national stockpile, which was built to mitigate supply chain disruptions and sudden surges in usage. As the stockpile needs to be refreshed to maintain resiliency, the current batch of ART kits have a remaining shelf life of about six months.
  2. The distributed ART kits are expected to expire in the first quarter of 2024. Their usable period can still cover the year-end, coinciding with the northern hemisphere winter season, during which respiratory viruses including influenza and COVID-19 may spread more easily globally. Many also take overseas vacations during this period and the kits will help families to take additional precautions where needed.
  3. Everyone plays a part in being socially responsible. With the shift towards COVID-19 endemicity, Singaporeans are reminded to take measures to protect themselves and their families, especially seniors and medically vulnerable persons.
  4. Persons who test positive with an ART test should regard themselves as being infected with COVID-19. They should avoid close contact with others while still symptomatic, and may return to normal activities when their symptoms resolve. If there is a need to go out while symptomatic, they should wear a mask when leaving home, minimise social interactions and avoid crowded places. Those who are medically vulnerable or with severe, prolonged or worsening acute respiratory infection (ARI) symptoms should see a doctor.
  5. We encourage eligible persons to receive the recommended vaccine doses. Persons aged five years and above who have not completed their minimum protection of vaccinations are urged to do so. In addition, individuals aged 60 years and above and medically vulnerable persons are recommended to receive the updated bivalent vaccine booster around one year after their last booster dose. They can start to receive it from five months after their last booster dose.

MAN CAUGHT WIFE SENDING INAPPROPRIATE PHOTOS TO ANOTHER MAN

0

Hello, I’m still trying to process this whole thing. Last night while my wife was asleep I was going to turn on some music from her phone to help her stay asleep. We have always allowed the other to use and search our phones with nothing to hide.

Somehow I clicked on messaging then minimized it. Something gripped me about the message I saw though. I reopened it and saw a name I did not know. The message was very flirty with some face pics but nothing else.

I know I should of just put the phone down but I couldn’t I went through one of her apps I knew she used and saw a conversation with a guy and wanted to know how long they had been talking. At this point, my stomach was in the pit. As I scrolled up I saw messages calling each other cute names and even a couple saying she loved him by his name. I never got the top as I scrolled I found photos of her in nightgowns with a ‘toy’ between her breast and a picture of her bare.

Talking about how good his KKJ will be.

I woke her up to talk and she told me he lived in another country and that it was just a fantasy. She acknowledged she went too far but she has since not done so. She will not let me see her phone but I know I saw the message of flirting with at least 3 guys before I woke her.

She wants us to move on and work on our relationship but I feel a feeling I can’t describe and was looking for some help.

Edit. Forgot to add we have 3 kids together and have been married for 7 years.

I’m at work and I really appreciate everyone taking time to for advice
