GIRL FOUND OUT SHE WAS BORN FROM HER MUM’S CHEATING, HER DAD’S NOT HER REAL DAD

0

Found out my dad isn’t my real dad and that I’m the product of my mom cheating.

My dad approached me and told me him and my mom were divorcing. He wouldn’t tell me why but I kept pressing him and then he eventually told me the truth.

I wasn’t his daughter and the result of my mom having an affair with another man.

Apparently he always had his suspicions but his suspicions were confirmed after mom blurted out the truth to him one night when they were arguing.

My mom also confessed to me about who my real dad is after I approached her. I hate my mom so much. She was disloyal and lied to my dad for years. How could she do this? And to me? To bring me into such a f-ed up situation like this?

I hope when my parents divorce she ends up with nothing. She deserves nothing. F my mom. She’s a disgusting w—e.

  1. How are you and dad? I get he isn’t your bio dad, but does he still want to be in your life?
    • (OP) We are okay. My dad told me no matter what happens he’ll always be my dad and there for me. He’s moving out and I want to leave with him, but feel awkward to ask. Just knowing everytime he looks at me I’m a reminder of what my mom did to him. I feel like an abomination. Fml. Not sure what’s gonna happen. I have so much anger towards my mom. I feel lost.
  2. Doesn’t matter if he is your bio or not if you see him as your dad then he’s your dad fuck your mom and sperm donor and your extend fam if they really knew. Give your dad a big hug and tell him he is still your dad and you love him.
  3. I cut all contact with my dad, barely seen him 3 times in the last 15 years. I see my step-dad every other weekend. Blood means nothing, a father is love. Your dad is your dad, fk the mom and the deadbeat. Hopefully neither of you will speak to her again.

BF’S MUM WANTS HER TO PAY RENT TO MOVE IN WITH HER SON & PAY FOR ALL THEIR MEALS

0

I broke up with my bf because I refused to pay his mom rent

I (23f) and my bf(24m) have been dating for 3 years. It’s been pretty smooth and up until now I could see us having a future together.

We thought we would take it to the next step and move in together. And when I say move in together, I meant get an apartment together.

He thought that meant I move into his parents house and live in his bedroom with him. That was the point of moving in together was to get AWAY from our parents.

I laughed when he brought that up to me, but when I realized he was being serious I told him that’s not an option for me.

I’m done living with parents and if he doesn’t want to I understand and we can wait till he’s ready, but I don’t want to wait much longer and if it’s a money thing I’m more than willing to help him save. He said he would think about it and look over his financial plan.

A couple days later he said he talked to his parents and that his mom said it would be okay if I moved in but she’d expect me to pay rent. He won’t pay rent, but she’d expect me to pay $600 a month PLUS another $100 on groceries.

I work at at restaurant and eat there 95% of the time so there’s no reason to spend $100 on groceries. I’d be paying for THEM to eat.

I told my BF that’s ridiculous and I refuse and that he’s the only one who benefits from that deal. He refused to budge because he doesn’t want to spend money and rather freeload off his parents for as long as he could. He threatened to break up with me over this to which I just said “that’s fine. I can easily afford a place to myself and although I wish you would be there with me, I understand that you’re not ready to let go of mommy’s hand”.

I also told him that if I have to get a place he won’t be living there since he wants to be with mommy so bad, and if he wants to live with me he’ll have to split half of rent.

He tried to reason with me about spending the nights at my hypothetical apartment to which I said no and I’ll start looking for myself and if he wants he can pay rent.

I can easily afford to pay for a $1200 by myself so the money isn’t the issue, it’s the audacity. If we split rent it would only be $600-700 for him too, he can easily afford it but he doesn’t want to.

He told me that’s not fair to make him pay and k told him it’s not fair if I’m the only one who has to pay $700 and I don’t even have a place to myself.

I think I broke his heart and now I’m feeling bad. I love him but this made me see some red/yellow flags I overlooked and I’m not sure he is the right guy for me.

I’m also pretty sure his mom doesn’t like me so this was a way to break us apart so if that’s the case she wins

GUY CAN’T SEEM TO STAY AWAKE AT WORK, SLEEP 7 HRS OR DRINK 5 COFFEES ALSO NO USE

Staying awake during work

Genuine question here: I can’t seem to stay awake at work no matter how hard I try. I usually doze off in the morning and after lunch (2-3pm) for like 10 mins at a time.

I’ve tried everything: getting 7 hours of rest, 5 cups of coffee.

I get that it’s unprofessional and all but I just can’t help it. Doesn’t help that I’m an intern hahahaha.

Anyone have any advice??? Thanks in advance

Netizens’ comments

  1. Avoid eating a heavy lunch if you can. Drink lots of water so you need to go pee and walk around every once in a while.
  2. Can confirm, needing to pee keeps me away from the state of limbo. I also go toilet to wash up my face.
  3. One question, do you have the same situation on non-work day?
  4. I’ve realized keeping myself busy works. Always be doing something; don’t give yourself the opportunity to be idle.
  5. I’d buy a sandwich and save it for lunch hour, finish the sandwich, and take a nap while others are going for lunch.
  6. Stand up. It’s harder to fall asleep that way.
  7. Avoid heavy lunch that consists of noodles or rice!! Experienced this before, i’ve cut carbs and i’m awake at work. Walk around if you have to!
  8. Have you gotten blood work recently to check your levels? Once I was so low on energy was due to extremely low levels of iron and vitamin D. Once I supplement, my energy went back to normal.
  9. probably just not used to it. had a hard time adjusting to office hour life during my internships and also when I started work after NS.
  10. 5 cups of coffee for someone in their 20s? Thats really way too much. 2 cups max for me or 3 if I need to rush an assignment late at night.

MAN HAOLIAN HIS KKJ LONG, GF MEASURE IT & IT’S SMALLER THAN HIS CLAIMS, NOW HE ANGRY

0

me (23f) and my bf (24m) measured his genitals. i wanted to do it bc i think it’s hot. he told me a while ago it was 6.5 but it measured at 5.5. he’s mad at me/sad for some reason.

ok i know this is weird lol. but hear me out i really need advice.

i told him whatever he has down there is PERFECT. because it is. i genuinely think it is. he’s a grower not a shower and i think it bothers him maybe? like it’s the most satisfying one i’ve ever had in my entire life.

i will never find another one like it. i told him all this. how perfectly it fits in me etc etc. but he’s still so mad at me /sad about it.

he insisted it’s bigger when he’s really hard which i believed him bc i seen it like that and it’s DEFINITELY bigger. so i didn’t think anything of it and said it didn’t matter.

idk what to do to make him feel better about himself. 🙁 i didn’t mean to upset him so much. i’ve had trouble with accepting my body after some weight gain and i feel like i made him feels how i feel and i didn’t mean to. what do i do? i’ve tried everything but he’s just not talking to me much.

i love him to death. and he’s perfect in every single way besides normal arguments. but now he’s so sad. he’s at PT now and i want to be able to make him feel better when he comes back somehow.

any advice???

Netizens’ comments

  1. measure from the underside. He’ll gain an inch and everyone can be happy. 🙂
  2. Has he put on weight?
  3. Tell him to shave away all the hair, it will look bigger
  4. Former icu nurse here. I’ve seen a load of Ds. Most of them are average. That’s the thing about averages, it covers a lot of ground. Tell your boo to be happy with his perfectly average size, there’s nothing wrong.

XIAO DIDI’S SMARTWATCH EXPLODES ON HIS ARM, SUFFERS 2ND-DEGREE BURNS ON BOTH ARMS

0

In a shocking incident, a young boy in Taiwan suffered second-degree burns on his arm when his smartwatch exploded while he was wearing it.

The incident occurred as he was on his way to his tuition class, and the device suddenly started to heat up before detonating, causing severe injuries that required skin grafts.

The smartwatch, known to be quite expensive with a retail price of approximately S$155 (NT$3,590), has raised concerns regarding the safety of such devices.

Heats up then exploded

The unfortunate event took place on Friday, June 30, in New Taipei City, as reported by the Chinese-language news outlet ETtoday.

The ten-year-old boy was heading to his tuition class when he noticed his smartwatch heating up. Shortly after, the device exploded, resulting in burns on both his arms. The excruciating pain caused the boy to burst into tears, and a compassionate shopkeeper nearby rushed to his aid.

The shopkeeper applied burn medication to the boy’s injuries before he continued on his way to class. The severity of the burns prompted his tuition teacher to call for an ambulance.

Skin graft

It was revealed that the boy’s parents had purchased the smartwatch online from a relatively unknown brand four years prior to the incident. The reason behind the sudden combustion of the smartwatch remains unclear, as the boy had always been cautious while using the device.

The news outlet highlighted that the smartwatch is priced between S$155 (NT$3,590) and S$216.50 (NT$4,990). The explosion resulted in second-degree burns on the back of the boy’s right hand, necessitating a skin graft to aid in the healing process.

Only buy from trusted brands

Following this alarming incident, the local fire department issued a warning, urging citizens to only purchase electronic devices from trusted retailers. Safety concerns regarding smartwatches and other similar gadgets have escalated, and consumers are advised to exercise caution when choosing such devices. In case of burns or scalds, the fire department recommends the following steps:

  1. Run cold water over the affected area.
  2. Remove any articles of clothing or accessories from the affected area.
  3. Cover the affected area.
  4. Seek immediate medical treatment at the hospital.

The fire department also reminded citizens of the importance of knowing the “stop, drop, and roll” technique in case their clothes or bodies catch fire.

Ongoing Investigations

The incident involving the exploding smartwatch has sparked an investigation to determine the cause of the explosion and prevent similar occurrences in the future. Authorities are actively looking into the matter to ensure the safety of consumers.

Jocelyn Chia’s Tweet

My first ambition in life was to be a journalist, ideally a columnist. I even did a stint writing for the @straits_times, Singapore’s national newspaper, and have published an op-ed piece in it.

More than 20 years later since I first held that ambition, I got invited to be a Guest columnist for – I can’t even believe I’m saying this – NEWSWEEK

Oh my god. I recall my time in Junior College, having to read Newsweek magazines for my Current History course. And now I have an Essay in it!

Honestly, this is actually making me feel KINDA grateful to Malaysia lol.

MINISTERS IN RIDOUT RD SAGA SHARE THEIR REASONS FOR RENTING THE BUNGALOWS

0

Renting a property is a common practice for individuals from all walks of life, including government officials. On 3rd July, Law Minister K Shanmugam and Foreign Affairs Minister Vivian Balakrishnan addressed questions in Parliament regarding their tenancies of two black-and-white bungalows along Ridout Road.

Balakrishnans were seeking bigger home for expanding family

When it comes to choosing a home, personal circumstances play a significant role. Dr Balakrishnan shared that his family was seeking a larger home due to their expanding family. With four children between the ages of 17 and 24, including married children who have already started families of their own, the Balakrishnans desired a residence where their grandchildren could grow up under the same roof.

This decision was not made lightly, as it required the consent and agreement of the son-in-law and daughter-in-law, as well as the understanding that each nuclear family would reside in the same bedroom with their children.

Mrs Balakrishnan stumbled upon the property at 31 Ridout Road by chance. While driving to a friend’s place in September 2018, she noticed a “For Lease” sign on the property and decided to inquire about it. The contact number on the sign connected her to a property agent from Colliers International Consultancy and Valuation, who further facilitated the rental process.

The initial asking rent for 31 Ridout Road was S$19,000, and although the property had been vacant since 2013 and required significant repairs, the Balakrishnans agreed to take on the improvements at their own expense. In October 2019, Mrs Balakrishnan signed a standard tenancy agreement of 3+2+2 years with Colliers, committing to the property’s rental.

Shanmugam’s reasons for renting

On the other hand, Mr Shanmugam’s decision to rent a property stemmed from a different circumstance. Being a public official, he acknowledged that the boundaries between personal and public matters can blur in such situations. Mr Shanmugam made the choice to rent a property because he had decided to sell his family home.

As he reached his 60s, he recognized the importance of diversifying his assets and not keeping most of his savings tied up in one property. Although he clarified that the decision was not financially driven, it was based on prudent financial planning.

Mr Shanmugam emphasized that he did not sell his previous family home out of financial need but rather to ensure a diversified asset portfolio. He made it clear that he does not regret giving up his previous earnings as a Senior Counsel because serving the public is a privilege, and he would make the same choice again.

He added that he is in fact making a net deficit that he needs to top up now that he is living at 26 Ridout Road as his previous home is now non-owner occupied, and that the money from the rent from his previous home goes into his rental of the Ridout Rd home and complemented with the money that he made from his time working as a lawyer.

PM LEE SAYS MINISTERS IN RIDOUT RD SAGA DID NOTHING WRONG, NO EVIDENCE FOUND OF WRONGDOING

0

Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong spoke in Parliament on 3 July and addressed the Ridout Road saga involving ministers K. Shanmugam and Vivian Balakrishnan, and said that they have his full confidence after investigations revealed that they have done nothing wrong.

Snippets of PM Lee’s statement

Ministers in Singapore are paid a clean wage, realistic, competitive but clean wage. They do not get perks, there is no official house to live in. You get a salary. It is for you to judge what you need it for, for your lives. Save it, give it away, spend it, put in a house, travel, whatever.

Therefore, where Ministers decide to live, whether they want to rent, whether they want to buy, these are personal choices. Thus I see nothing wrong with Ministers renting properties from SLA, or for that matter, from a private landlord, provided it is properly done, and all procedures are followed.

Therefore when I heard that two of my Ministers, Shanmugam and Vivian Balakrishnan had rented Black and White bungalows at Ridout Road, my assessment, without going into in depth, was that I did not believe there was wrong doing involved. I had every confidence that my Ministers, and the SLA officials who dealt with them, would have done the right things, and handled the rentals properly.

However, after SLA’s statement on the 12th of May, the issue continued to attract public interest.

So when the two Ministers asked me to conduct an investigation independent of their ministries, I decided that notwithstanding my confidence in them and in the system, it would be best for me to task CPIB2 to conduct a formal investigation, and to establish definitively if there was any corruption or wrongdoing.

Tasked Teo Chee Hean to complement CPIB’s investigation

I tasked Senior Minister (SM) Teo Chee Hean to do a broader review of SLA’s policies and processes, to complement CPIB’s investigation.

SM Teo is my most senior Minister in terms of years in Cabinet and experience. I appointed him, to show that I have every intention to maintain the government’s and the PAP’s longstanding, high and stringent standards of integrity and propriety.

I wanted to put my most experienced, most qualified, for this purpose, most capable person on the job.

I did not consider SM Teo to have been involved in the transaction, even though Minister Shanmugam had informed SM Teo of the arrangements he had made to recuse himself, including that then Senior Minister of State Indranee Rajah had been told to approach SM Teo if the matter had to go beyond her.

Because no such issue arose, and nothing was ever raised to SM Teo. He was the backstop and nothing reached him.

No wrongdoing found

When CPIB and Senior Minister Teo submitted their reports to me, I accepted all their conclusions, and ordered the reports to be published, and placed before the House, before this meeting today so that everybody can read them, digest them, and we are ready to come here and have an informed discussion. These reports provide a good basis for Parliament to discuss the issue.

Their conclusions are quite clear, as the Ministerial Statements you have heard earlier have explained from Senior Minister Teo and Minister Edwin Tong. CPIB found no corruption or wrongdoing, no preferential treatment, no disclosure of privileged information, no abuse of position for personal gain.

The AGC confirmed this after reviewing the Investigation Papers. And the Leader of the Opposition paid CPIB and paid the Government a compliment just now when he said, nobody is suggesting corruption on the part of the Ministers.

CPIB did find an imprecision in how SLA defined the Guide Rent for No. 26 Ridout Road. Their report explained this, and CPIB established that this imprecision was not due to any ill intent on the part of the SLA officers, nor was there any evidence of any male fide abuse of position in the valuation.

The imprecision is embarrassing to SLA and the Government, particularly as SLA had put out a statement earlier to say that the Ministers both paid higher than the guide rents, but that cannot be helped. CPIB calls it as it is, with no regard to whom it might inconvenience or embarrass.

SLA has acknowledged that CPIB’s interpretation is the correct one and they will review their practices, and improve upon them.

Senior Minister Teo’s review, relying on CPIB’s findings, confirmed the broader issues, that there was no conflict of interest or unfair advantage enjoyed, and that all rules and procedures had been complied with.

And his report sets out the basis for his conclusions – these are not just his personal opinions, but conclusions based on documented facts, verified and laid out in the report.

Full confidence in the ministers

Minister Shanmugam and Minister Vivian Balakrishnan have done nothing wrong, and they retain my full confidence. But this accounting in Parliament is not just to resolve the issue of the rentals on two Black and White properties in Ridout Road, important as that is.

It is also a demonstration of how the PAP is determined to uphold the standards which it has set itself from the beginning, in 1959.

This government has not, and will never, tolerate any compromise of or departure from the stringent standards of honesty, integrity and incorruptibility that Singaporeans expect of us. In this case, we have investigated it, the Ministers have been cleared.

Police advisory on crime prevention

Police would like to share some steps you can take to keep yourself and all our loved ones safe.

  1. Be alert and attentive to your surroundings, especially when you are in a crowded and confined space (i.e. in public entertainment night spots, in lifts, MRT, buses etc.) or alone with a stranger that moves very near to you.
  2. If someone rushes into the lift at the last minute and you are alone, it is safer to step out and take the next one.
  3. If someone is following you, head to a crowded area; if someone moves uncomfortably close to you (e.g. someone deliberately stands or sits close to you in a bus or MRT), move away if possible.
  4. Avoid going out at night alone. If you have to, go out in a group or get someone (parent, close friend) to accompany you.
  5. Avoid letting your young children wander around alone, teach them to be wary and move away from strangers who try to get close to or touch them.
  6. Consider investing in a shrill alarm for you and your loved ones as they can come in handy to sound for help during emergencies.
