[Update 2: Collapsed Structure Incident Along Bernam Street]

Following an intensive search operation, a worker who was earlier reported missing, was sighted to be pinned under the collapsed reinforced concrete structure around 1800hrs. The worker had no pulse and not breathing.

The SCDF immediately conducted cutting and breaking operations to free the casualty. The operation also required the Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team (DART) personnel to dig their way through the rubble to create space and assess where parts of the body may have been trapped. This was further complicated due to the weight of the concrete slab which was in excess of 50 tonnes (estimated) as well as mangled scaffolding around the body.

The casualty was finally freed after nearly four hours around 2145hrs. He was pronounced dead at the scene by a paramedic.

Earlier in the search operation, CCTV footages from the surrounding buildings were obtained by the Police to assist in the assessment of the situation. A fibre optic scope, life detection equipment and search canines were also deployed to detect for signs of life. The operation involved the coordinated use of heavy machinery from the construction site as well as rescue equipment to cut and lift the reinforced concrete slab.

11 SCDF emergency vehicles and about 70 personnel, including rescuers from the DART were deployed at the scene for this operation.

JOCELYN CHIA HITS BACK AT M’SIA POLICE, CALLS THEM “RIDICULOUS” FOR INVOLVING INTERPOL

0

Singapore comedian Jocelyn Chia, otherwise known as public enemy number one in Malaysia, has responded to reports that the Malaysian police were seeking the assistance of Interpol to identify and locate her.

Speaking to the BBC, she described the whole situation as “overblown” and “ridiculous”.

According to a report published on June 13 by Bernama, Malaysia’s government news agency, local law enforcement authorities were planning to seek the assistance of Interpol, the international organization responsible for facilitating cooperation between various police agencies, in order to identify and locate Jocelyn Chia.

In a previous interview with CNN, the comedian clarified that her joke had been taken out of context in a brief video clip that was edited and shared on social media.

Regarding the involvement of Interpol, during her conversation with BBC, Chia emphasized that her intention was never to mock the tragic incident involving MH370, but rather to find a way to infuse humor into it.

She amusingly remarked, “I just wish I could have seen the face of the Interpol officer who received this request.”

“Honestly, if Interpol does do something about this request and things escalate, can you imagine how famous it is going to make me?”

On the alleged request from the Malaysian Police, Interpol stated that they have yet to receive any request for help from them, yet.

Recap

Singapore-born comedian Jocelyn Chia, known for her recent stand-up comedy show in the United States, has sparked a significant debate on the boundaries of comedic material.

In a video clip lasting 89 seconds, shared on Instagram, Chia addressed the ongoing rivalry between Singapore and Malaysia.

She made references to the separation of Singapore from Malaysia in 1965, joking about Singapore’s subsequent development into a First World country while suggesting that Malaysia remained a developing nation.

Chia’s comedic set also included a reference to the Malaysia Airlines plane MH370, which went missing in March 2014 en route to Beijing from Kuala Lumpur.

Acknowledging the sensitive nature of the tragedy, Chia stated that certain jokes, like the disappearance of the plane, do not “land well”.

The video clip received criticism from Malaysians, with radio broadcaster Kudsia Kahar expressing offense and asserting that a good stand-up comedian should avoid turning tragedies into jokes.

ANGMOH FINED FOR SMACKING WOMAN’S BUTT WHILE SHE BENT OVER TO CLEAN TABLE @ ZOUK

0

A 40-year-old Swiss man, identified as Ramon Taboada Souza Neto, recently found himself in trouble during his visit to Singapore.

The incident occurred on April 1, 2023, at Zouk, a popular establishment in Singapore where the victim, a 39-year-old employee referred to as a “table hostess,” was working in the VIP section.

The victim, who wishes to remain anonymous due to legal reasons, was performing her duties, cleaning a table, when Ramon approached her from behind.

Without her consent, he proceeded to slap her left buttock with his right hand. This act was caught on Zouk’s surveillance cameras.

The victim swiftly turned around, catching Ramon in the act. Realizing what had happened, she immediately informed Zouk’s security officers about the incident.

A security officer approached Ramon for questioning, but instead of cooperating, he attempted to flee the premises.

However, Zouk’s security team managed to detain him outside, promptly contacting the police at approximately 3:31 am. One of the security officers told the police when calling for help, saying that there was “a molest case. Detained him and he is trying to run. Victim is with us.”

The authorities arrived at the scene and took Ramon into custody. He was released on S$1,000 bail on the same day.

Subsequently, on June 12, 2023, Ramon pleaded guilty to the charge of outrage of modesty. The district judge presiding over the case imposed a fine of S$4,000 as punishment.

During the mitigation plea, Ramon’s defense lawyer, Navin Naidu from Dentons Rodyk & Davidson, emphasized that his client had no previous criminal record.

Naidu argued that Ramon’s actions were a result of excessive alcohol consumption, although a blood sample obtained more than 10 hours after the incident revealed no traces of alcohol. Naidu suggested that the alcohol might have already been metabolized by that time.

To demonstrate Ramon’s remorse, Naidu highlighted that his client had written an apology letter to the victim on April 23, 2023.

The defense lawyer also mentioned that Ramon was eager to return to his family in Switzerland, as his wife was expecting their fourth child. The incident had forced Ramon to remain in Singapore for over 70 days, causing significant stress for him.

S’PORE MAN KILLED IN PHILIPPINES AFTER BEING SHOT IN THE HEAD, SUSPECTED ASSASINATION

66-year-old Singaporean businessman, Chan Kim Tay, was killed after being shot in the head on MOnday in the Batangas province of Manila, Phillipines; in what is suspected to be an assasination.

The victim had recently finished his errands at a public market in Lian town and was en route home at approximately 6 p.m. on Monday.

At that moment, an unidentified individual approached him and fatally shot him in the head, as confirmed by Sergeant Arthur Rosales, the assigned case officer, according to the Straits Times.

Following the attack, Mr. Chan was conveyed to a nearby hospital in Nasugbu town. However, despite the efforts made, he was declared dead upon arrival.

Police chasing leads

The police are currently reviewing surveillance footage from the vicinity of the crime scene in hopes of identifying the perpetrator. Sergeant Rosales also further stated that investigators are pursuing several leads, including the possibility of a domestic conflict being the motive for Mr. Chan’s murder, as well as the potential involvement of a contract killer.

Having resided in the Philippines for around three decades, Mr. Chan had established deep roots in the country. He was married to Mrs. Marife Chan, a 49-year-old Filipino, and together they had three children aged 28, 17, and 7.

According to Sgt. Rosales, Mrs. Chan has provided her statement to investigators, indicating that her husband did not possess any known adversaries nor engage in any recent altercations. Witnesses have also informed the authorities that Mr. Chan mostly kept to himself as he had never acquired fluency in Tagalog, the local language.

Not the first Singaporean shot in Philippines

Regrettably, this is not the first incident of its kind involving a Singaporean citizen residing in the Philippines. In August 2015, Mr. Stanley Jang, a 36-year-old manager of a computer company, was similarly attacked. He was shot in the face by two individuals while working inside his cubicle in Paranaque city, situated south of Manila.

In the case of Mr. Jang, his widow informed the police that he had been receiving death threats related to a business dispute prior to his untimely demise.

MAN EATEN ALIVE BY TIGER SHARK IN EGYPT RESORT, SCREAMS FOR “PAPA” AS HE DIES

0

A 23-year-old Russian man, Vladimir Popov, was seen in horrifying videos that emerged online being eaten alive and maulted to death by a tiger shark at the Red Sea resorts in Egypt.

Disturbing footage captured from the beach portrays the horrifying moments as the man screamed “papa” while being attacked. This incident has prompted the closure of a significant stretch of coastline by Egyptian authorities.

The victim, a 23-year-old Russian national named Vladimir Popov, had been enjoying a swim in the waters near his resort close to the city of Hurghada.

Suddenly, a tiger shark emerged from beneath the water’s surface and seized him, subjecting him to a vicious attack. The sheer brutality of the incident forced the Egyptian authorities to impose a closure on a 74-kilometer section of the coastline, with the restriction set to remain in effect until Sunday.

Vladimir’s father, who witnessed the attack from the shore, shared his harrowing experience. Mr. Popov expressed how they had come to the beach seeking relaxation.

He recounted the horrifying incident, saying, “My son was attacked by a shark; it all happened in seconds. What kind of help can you give? This meat grinder happened in 20 seconds; he was just dragged under the water.”

The grieving father also mentioned the unusual nature of the attack, as the beach was considered safe, with the presence of ships and yachts. He expressed his disbelief, stating, “It’s never happened there. They usually attack on wild beaches. It’s just some kind of evil fate.”

A nearly minute-long video capturing the brutal shark attack circulated on various platforms. The footage shows the victim being abruptly pulled underwater by the shark, resurfacing momentarily to desperately fend off the predator.

The water around him soon turned red, indicating the severity of the attack. Throughout the video, the victim can be heard screaming “papa” and crying out loudly as the shark continues to circle and launch further assaults. At one point, a witness remarks, “It is eating his remains now,” while a small ship sails in the distance.

Following the incident, Egypt’s environment ministry took immediate action. They managed to capture the shark responsible for the attack and transported it to a laboratory for examination. The aim is to determine the underlying factors that led to this rare and tragic event. Images shared on social media depict the lifeless, bloodied shark lying on a sheet of land.

Shark attacks are infrequent in the coastal regions of the Red Sea. In 2022, two fatal attacks occurred in Hurghada within days, claiming the lives of an Austrian and a Romanian tourist.

Tiger sharks, known for their size, inhabit tropical and temperate waters and have been frequently mentioned by the International Shark Attack File in relation to unprovoked attacks on humans.

A TikTok video featuring a couple with a significant age difference has been making waves online. The video, shared on the couple’s joint account @mohammadamiinrokiahfamli, reveals the unusual love story of Ms. Rokiah Samad and her husband, Mr. Muhammad Amin Jumdail. The couple’s story is nothing short of extraordinary, as the 62-year-old woman is 34 years older than her 28-year-old husband.

Their journey began when they crossed paths on the internet, meeting through an online platform in October 2021. Surprisingly, less than eight months later, they were engaged, and on September 9th of the following year, they exchanged vows, sealing their bond.

The age disparity between them has led many people to mistakenly assume that Ms. Rokiah and Mr. Amin are grandmother and grandson. Such confusion is understandable considering that Ms. Rokiah is not only a wife and mother but also a proud grandmother to 22 grandchildren. In fact, her eldest daughter is almost 20 years older than her husband, standing at the age of 45.

Mr. Amin, however, sees beyond the age gap and cherishes his partner for her youthful spirit and angelic beauty. Captivated by her mature and understanding nature, Mr. Amin made the decision to relocate from Sabah to Kelantan to be with his beloved.

This is not Ms. Rokiah’s first experience with a younger husband. In fact, Mr. Amin is her third spouse, and she hopes he will be her last. Her previous two husbands were also younger than her, with the first one being six years her junior and the second one the same age as her current partner. Unfortunately, her second marriage ended due to her ex-husband’s work-related commitments in China.

Ms. Rokiah considers herself fortunate to have a younger husband, as she believes they are easier to care for. She emphasizes the importance of mutual respect, understanding, and love in their relationship. Mr. Amin wholeheartedly agrees and admits that he pampers his wife.

Their love story has been nothing short of a fairy tale, and the couple continues to enjoy marital bliss. In a recent TikTok video, Ms. Rokiah shared her perspective on a perfect partnership, emphasizing the significance of finding a partner who brings one closer to God and instills a sense of tranquility.

JAYWALKERS IN CHINA GETTING CAUGHT ON A.I CAMERAS & PUBLICLY SHAMED ON SCREENS

Popular Twitch streamer Jake’n’Bake recently shared a fascinating discovery during his live stream in Shanghai, China. In a video clip posted on TikTok by @livefailsshorts, Jake’n’Bake noticed an intriguing setup at pedestrian crossings that aims to remind pedestrians to adhere to traffic laws.

Instead of relying solely on traditional traffic cameras, the Chinese authorities have incorporated live-cameras into devices at pedestrian crossings.

These cameras serve the purpose of capturing images of individuals who jaywalk, particularly when the traffic signal is red.

Subsequently, the offenders’ faces are displayed on a large screen accompanied by a caption in Chinese, labeling them as “persons suspected of violating the law.”

The Gaoxin Public Security Bureau, through their official Weibo account, revealed that this initiative aims to gather evidence and take action against jaywalkers.

By installing cameras on traffic lights, videos of jaywalkers in the act are recorded. The smart system then captures images of the offenders at three different instances during the violation, providing concrete evidence of the traffic law violation.

The captured images are cross-referenced with a biometrics database to identify the individuals involved. The system not only highlights their faces on a larger screen but also warns them against jaywalking using an audio system.

The implementation of this surveillance system has generated mixed reactions among TikTok users. While some users have expressed approval, viewing it as an effective measure to combat jaywalking, others have criticized it for being overly intrusive.

Comparisons have been drawn to dystopian novels and films such as ‘1984,’ ‘Black Mirror,’ and ‘The Orville,’ with users condemning the perceived control exerted by such surveillance practices.

Interestingly, some users have taken a more lighthearted approach, joking about posing for the cameras or intentionally prolonging their crossing to gain a few moments of fame.

Contrary to popular belief, this system has been in use in China since 2017, as reported by the Daily Mail. It was subsequently expanded to other regions of the country in late 2019. In certain cities, the practice of “public shaming” takes place on an even larger scale.

Xiangyang city, for example, gained significant attention in 2019 when offenders’ surnames and identification numbers were publicly displayed on billboards along with their facial images.

37 Y.O S’PORE MAN CHARGED FOR FORCING CHILLI INTO SON’S MOUTH & CAUSING HIS DEATH

0

A 37-year-old man in Singapore has been charged with committing a rash act that caused the death of his young son.

According to reports, the father allegedly forced a piece of chilli into his son’s mouth while they were at their residence in Sengkang. The son was lying down during the incident, causing the chilli to obstruct his airways, ultimately resulting in his passing.

The individual in question, identified as 37-year-old Muhammad Amir Kader, has been charged with a reckless act that does not amount to culpable homicide. If convicted, he could face a maximum prison sentence of five years.

The incident occurred when the father allegedly inserted the tip of a chilli into his son’s mouth The incident took place on August 2, 2022, at approximately 1:30 p.m., at a flat located on Anchorvale Road, as reported by Channel NewsAsia.

Allegedly, Amir forcefully inserted the tip of a chilli into the mouth of his son, named Muhammad Ariq Raziqin Muhammad Amir. The age of the son was not disclosed.

According to sources, Amir employed his right hand to carry out the act while his son was lying on the ground. As a consequence, the chilli caused a blockage in the son’s airways, resulting in his unfortunate demise.

Potential sentence of up to five years in prison The prosecution has decided not to seek a gag order in this case, citing the absence of anyone to safeguard.

Amir, however, contested this decision, highlighting that he has other children. Nevertheless, the prosecution argued that the lack of a gag order would not adversely affect the other children.

As per The Straits Times, the 37-year-old defendant is scheduled to appear in court again on July 12, approximately one month from now.

In the event of a guilty verdict, Amir could face a prison term of no more than five years, in addition to a fine.
