MAN WORKING IN A BANK SAYS ITS STRESS & ALOT OF UNPAID OVERTIME WORK

0

A max who was previously employed in a bank said that the bank is not a nice place to work as it is very stressful.

Here is the story:

The back end and front end of the bank is very different, I used to work in the back end and doing support was a special kind of ‘hell’.

Although in the contract it is stated I work 9-6 but most of the time (I would say about 70%) I work 9 – 10, 11 or even 12 am. Im not working in the support you thinking of, not the phone service.

My job was to edit and update the details of VIPs of the bank. The amount of work is insane and we have to change it in a timely manner to ensure customer satisfaction.

Tracking Bank Employees

Every movement in the bank system is tracked, from one transaction to the other, from one click to the other. It’s all timed by the system to judge our performance.

Actions/Time = performance level

If I fall below the acceptable grade my manager will come and F me. The system is used as part of a grading system of the employee which can affect bonuses, increments and even promotions.

The daily stress level is very high as I need to maintain a high-level score and this score is not visible to me, it’s like an invisible forcing us to work like cows in a field.

Sure, the overall public perception of working in a bank seems to be rich and powerful but the truth is the people in suits that are looking cool are the 1% top earners of the company.

Most of us are not doing that well.

BRITISH NEWSPAPER THE SUN MIX UP S’PORE WITH CHINA, PUT CHINA FLAG AS S’PORE IN F1 SCHEDULE

0

Singaporean internet users were left upset after a British tabloid, The Sun, made a mistake in a Formula 1 (F1) graphic calendar published on June 1. In the article, a Chinese flag was wrongly featured alongside Singapore, leading to controversy.

The error came to light when an unknown Facebook user shared a screenshot of the calendar in a group called “Complaint Singapore,” drawing attention to the mistake.

The graphic calendar, located at the end of the erroneous article, provides information about past and upcoming F1 Grand Prix events scheduled for 2023 across the world. One entry in the calendar discussed the possibility of Lewis Hamilton joining Ferrari if they significantly increased his salary, as claimed by an F1 expert.

Unfortunately, The Sun incorrectly used the flag of the People’s Republic of China to represent Singapore instead of Singapore’s own national flag. It is important to note that the article correctly mentioned the date and track for the Singapore Grand Prix 2023.

Once bitten twice shy, twice bitten ccb

Regrettably, The Sun repeated the same error in another article published on June 4. In the article’s cover image, they displayed China’s national flag instead of Singapore’s flag to represent the host countries for this year’s F1 races.

To clarify, it should be emphasized that China will not be hosting its Grand Prix in 2023 due to the ongoing challenges caused by the Covid-19 situation, as stated on the official website of F1.

Additionally, despite updating the graphic calendar to reflect the current stage of the championship, The Sun once again included the Chinese national flag alongside Singapore. This persistent error with the flags is worth noting.

Netizens’ comments

  1. I am not surprised….I have foreigners asking me if Singapore is part of China. Soon they may be asking if we part of India
  2. It’s Chinapore for quite some time..
  3. Well the Sun isnt really rated as a newspaper so hardly a surprize
  4. this show how ignorant the Sun are !
  5. the sun is a terrible newspaper! Don’t sweat it. They get most things wrong!

COPYCAT CHARLES & KEITH SEEN IN CHINA, RENAMED THEMSELVES “CHFPIBS & KSLTH”

0

Charles & Keith, a rapidly growing global brand, has garnered significant popularity worldwide. Apart from being endorsed by BlackPink, the brand’s imitations have also been observed in China previously.

Interestingly, yet another counterfeit Charles & Keith store has recently surfaced in China. This time, however, the store’s name is so perplexing that it is virtually unpronounceable.

A brief five-second video shared by a TikTok user @kenpgl showcased this store stumbled upon in China. The store’s appearance bore a striking resemblance to an authentic Charles & Keith store located in Singapore, catching the attention of the original poster.

Nonetheless, what truly stood out was the store’s name. Instead of the familiar ‘Charles & Keith’ sign, the store went by the name ‘Chfpibs & Kslth.’ While there were similarities to the genuine store’s name, it seemed like a haphazard combination of letters.

Understandably, netizens were left utterly perplexed by the peculiar name of the counterfeit store. Many found it exceedingly challenging to pronounce. Several TikTok users suggested that the store would have been better off choosing a completely different name.

Even Zoe Gabriel, an ambassador for Charles & Keith, expressed her bewilderment at the unusual name.

On the other hand, some individuals were impressed by the store’s remarkable ability to replicate the original Charles & Keith store’s appearance.

Netizens’ comments

  1. i try to pronounce the name and my saliva fly all over the place sia

LOYALTY TEST: GF’S FRIEND CALLS BF TO NETFLIX & CHILL

0

I’ve been together with my boyfriend for nearly one and a half years. We met during orientation and thing went on smoothly afterwards. My boyfriend was kinda sweet to me in the beginning when we were dating.

He would usually shower me with gifts and take me out to eat good and delicious food, which I really enjoy. But anyway, after we got together officially in the 2nd semester, we started to stay over at each other’s hostel room (thankfully we were both staying in single rooms at that time). I would say that things started to be more intense afterwards. He would start to introduce me to some ‘films’ and we would watch it together, especially during Friday nights since we don’t have school on Saturday. He would ask me to try out certain positions while watching those films. I’m definitely new to it but I do love these intense actions and what he’s doing to me.

Furthermore, it’s usually on Friday nights so not many people are in the hostel so we can be slightly noisy a bit.

However, recently, I’m kind of feeling very drained as we are spending nearly 4 to 5 hours every week.

Loyalty test

My friends told me that I should test him since he was so “active” and I agreed. My friend called my boyfriend on the loudspeaker and said that she quarrelled with me and asked if they could hang out.

My boyfriend pause on the phone for a few seconds and said “why not?” Then my friend said “I was thinking to go over your place to hangout maybe watch a movie and netflix… and chill?”.

My boyfriend pause for a few more seconds and said “yes, but she (my name) must not know, it must be a secret”.

I exploded and grabbed the phone and questioned him. He hanged up immediately.

What should I do? Should I break up with him? We haven’t talk for 2 days.

NETIZEN KENA “SAMAN” & ALMOST HEART ATTACK, BUT IT TURNS OUT TO BE JUST A FLYER

0

A property company in Singapore recently caught the wrath of a potential customer after employing a unique marketing ploy that almost gave him/her a heart attack.

Disguised as a “saman” ticket, the promotional flyer was attached to the netizen’s car, complimenting the driver for “parking beautifully”.

Internet users quickly recognized the irony of the situation and praised the advertisement for its creativity.

On June 10th, a post detailing the encounter was shared on the Complaint Singapore Unrestricted Facebook page.

The OP expressed their disapproval of the property company’s marketing gimmick, labelling it as tasteless and devoid of humour. They went on to explain their frustration, stating, “No driver like to see this kind of joke on their windscreen (SIC)”

The OP further criticized the flyer as a “cheap marketing gimmick” that would stick to vehicle windshields if exposed to rain.

Contrary to the OP’s sentiments, netizens online praised the company for their creativity, with one netizen pointing out that the gimmick accomplished its intended purpose perfectly, while another said “any publicity is good publicity.” By voicing their complaints about the flyer, the OP inadvertently promoted the company without cost.

While some netizens agreed that it might not be the ideal advertising method because it might give some people unintended heart attacks, the majority of netizens still managed to find humour in the incident and the flyer.

Here is what the netizen said

Calling out *property agent’s name redacted* from *company name redacted* with Mobile number *phone number redacted*.

Got this on my windscreen. I must say that this is very lame and not funny at all! No driver like to see this kind of joke on their windscreen!

And you jolly well don’t litter with your cheap marketing gimmick on our cars! If it rains, this will stick on to the windscreen!

*company name redacted* pls use your brains!

WIFE SAY HUSBAND’S ‘EXCALIBUR’ IS TOOTHPICK WITH CAULIFLOWER

0

I think i had the worst 1st night experience. Not sure whether u all have the same experience or not.

I am just married with a long time gf who is a doctor.

As a believer of chastity, i didnt want to have any s*x before marriage, but my wife really wanted to do it since the start of our relationship.

Thus after getting married last week, finally we were ready!

My wife wanted me to use the rubber as she doesn’t want to have baby yet (due to work condition), so i bought one, but i overestimated my size. I didnt know until we r in the midst of doing it

We decided not to turn off the light to spice things up a bit. Thus, it was dark and we didnt see anything. We decided to just go all the way.

However, as my little bro is too small, i spilled inside due to the oversized rubber. T.T

My wife was sulking as initially she didn’t want to take the morning-after pill.

Then, after we turned out the light, I saw her face full of horror.

“WTF IS DAT BESIDE UR ****” so i told her it was excess skin, I have had it since I was young, i said.

She just blasted  “IT IS NOT AN EXCESS SKIN, IT IS A F-ING WART”

Yes, she is a doctor, so she is familiar with this kind of stuff.

I am just wtf, I thought i have Excalibur, turned out it is a toothpick, and worse, i have a wart??

So, the next day, we decided to straight away go to nearest GP to ask for morning after pill and remove the excess skin/wart.

However as it is the National Day, all nearest clinic were closed. So we finally went to the GP that was quite far.

When we were waiting for registration, my wife saw a familiar face in the GP and she just said “F, she is my classmate”

Yes, the GP is her classmate and it was kinda weird that we needed to explain the unforgettable moment that we had to a person that she knows

I could see my wife and her friend were kinda embarrassed talking about this, even though they are doctors.

Though after the consultation, my wife just keep consoling me, during our journey home she just kept saying

“Ur lil bro and that ‘cauliflower’, haha”

My pride just plunged to the bottom of the ocean.

Not sure whether she still love me after this.

Sigh…

WOMAN WANTED TO BUY $1 DIM SUM DEALS ON FACEBOOK, GETS SCAMMED OF $24K

0

A woman in Singapore recently found herself in a distressing situation after responding to an advertisement for too-good-to-be-true dim sum deals on Facebook.

The reader, driven by the allure of the cheap dumplings and egg rolls priced as low as S$1, ended up being scammed of about $24,000, according to a report by MustShareNews.

Told to download mysterious app

Upon contacting the seller through Facebook on 1 June, the reader was directed to continue the conversation on WhatsApp. It was through this messaging platform that the seller shared a link, urging her to download and install an app called ‘1st Mall v6.0’ to facilitate her purchase.

To proceed, she had to create an account using her name, email address, and phone number. However, the ordeal did not end there. The seller later demanded a S$5 deposit, which prompted the reader to reconsider the transaction due to the hassle involved.

As she noticed her phone heating up, the reader followed her daughter’s advice and temporarily powered off the device.

Upon switching it back on, she was bombarded with multiple WhatsApp messages from the persistent seller, urging her to complete the online order. Despite informing him of her change of mind, the seller persisted in his pursuit.

A conversation transcript shared with MS News highlighted the successive messages from the seller, which the reader eventually chose to ignore.

Frustrated by the lack of progress, the seller resorted to using his personal account to call the customer repeatedly, but she continued to disregard the calls. However, her concerns escalated when she received an alarming email.

$24k in bank account gone

The following morning, on 2 June, the reader opened an email from DBS, her bank, alerting her to suspicious transactions from her account.

Alarmed, she swiftly accessed her internet banking application and discovered three fraudulent transactions, totaling nearly S$24,000. Furthermore, she realized that her daily withdrawal limit had been raised to S$70,000.

She then contacted the bank, instructing them to freeze her account while also lodging an online police report, documenting the entire ordeal.

However at the moment, the bank has been unable to confirm if her money can be recovered, as the case remains under police investigation.

In addition to the unauthorized transactions, the reader received a notification regarding an unusual sign-in attempt on her Google account from a device located in the Philippines.

Intriguingly, the sign-in occurred on the same day she attempted to make the dim sum purchase. It is suspected that a hacker may have gained access to her account, changed her password, and subsequently infiltrated her internet banking account.

Left with no choice but to await updates from the relevant authorities, the MS News reader is determined to raise awareness about this scam to prevent others from falling victim to similar incidents.

Expressing her frustration, she believes that the bank should have been more vigilant, particularly regarding the sudden increase in her withdrawal limit.

She opines that the bank should have contacted her to verify the legitimacy of the significant transactions before processing them.

SISTER CHEATS DISABLED BROTHER TO SELL FLAT & TAKE ALL HIS MONEY

0

Sister tells disabled brother to sell his flat and move in with her, then goes back on words to chase him out after taking his money and insurance payout, leaving him nowhere to shift to.

I am neither the sister nor the brother, I am just a friend. The brother got into a car accident around 10 years ago, and is paralyzed from chest down.

He has been staying at his sister’s house for the past few years, in the living room of her maisonette, which has a balcony where he can get bathed by his caretaker. He actually had a HDB, but because his medical supplies are expensive, he wanted to sell the flat. Before selling the flat, he asked his sister, like “you sure I can sell the flat?”. The sister said sure of course you can stay here. So, he sold the flat. Fast forward just few months after he sold the flat, the sister said he had to leave. She says that because of him, her family doesn’t have a living room anymore, and she has to do her work with a low chair as her table (she does not want to do her work on the dining table because the height of the table does not match her sitting position), she says she has been “looking forward to paint her living room walls”.

Also, because he travels around in a motorized wheelchair, when he comes back to the house, it leaves dirt on the floor that apparently the maid does not clean well. Because of these reasons, she wants him out of the house. The brother has been unemployed, for obvious reasons. You might ask, then just buy another flat right? Nope. The sister had been in control of his bank account because he trusted her to take care of his finances after receiving his insurance payout, but she has been taking his money for years without him knowing.

It was only this year that he found out. She took 200k+ from him to help pay for a property overseas, and as of now, yet to fully return him. She had also been deducting money as rent and utilities without telling him about it. She has also been wasting his money, around 20k, on unnecessary things like geomancy. The sister says that the brother has sufficient money in his bank & CPF to buy a flat.

Sure, but if he buys a flat, he really wouldn’t have enough money to sustain his life, given that he is unemployed. He needs to buy food, medical supplies, money for caretaker… It would literally deplete all his savings. He has also been unable to rent a flat, either under HDB or elsewhere. HDB, because he is ineligible due to the regulations.

Homeowners, upon hearing that he is disabled, don’t want to rent to him. Even if he were so lucky to be able to rent outside, it would be expensive, same as the reasons stated few sentences above. Take note, she actually has an unoccupied room on the second floor of the maisonette because her daughter had moved out after getting married. I felt that if she wanted to, she could make the room a living room for themselves since they are physically able to climb to the second floor. She can get a table in that room that matches her height since that’s so important to her. I really don’t understand how one can be so cruel to chase a disabled sibling out of the house.

To me, the problem all started when she guaranteed him a place to stay and letting him sell his house. Who would have thought that she would suddenly backtrack on her words? After all, they are siblings, why is she so cruel? I want to know if any of you reading this have another perspective to help me understand why she thinks it is okay to do all this. Also, if anyone could see if there are any actions he could possibly take legally in this situation.

Thank you for reading.

SFA ISSUES STATEMENT AFTER YOUTUBER’S VIDEO CLAIMS HALF OF CHICKEN RICE STALLS HAVE BACTERIA

0

The Singapore Food Agency issued a statement saying that there are no recent food-borne illness cases in Singapore involving chicken rice, following a video post by YouTuber Angel Hsu where she conducted tests herself on 100 chicken rice stalls, claiming that almost half of the samples had exceeded the regulatory limits for the bacteria, E. coli.

SFA’s statement

Media reply on food safety of chicken rice

The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) monitors chicken rice stalls regularly as part of its Market Monitoring Program. This is done by collecting samples and testing for microbiological contamination to ensure food safety requirements are met. SFA adopts a science-based risk assessment and management approach which means
that food with higher risks is subjected to more stringent and frequent checks. This is the case for chicken rice.

Enforcement actions were taken on chicken rice stalls found to have failed SFA’s food safety limits. SFA also looks into public feedback on food safety. From 2020 to May 2023, SFA received 126 feedbacks on chicken rice stalls with subsequent enforcement actions taken against one stall for selling unsafe food. In addition, enforcement actions were taken against 22 other chicken rice stalls found to fail our standards under SFA’s Market Monitoring Programme. SFA will continue to educate chicken rice stallholders on microbiological safety and control measures for retail food.

Our surveillance in recent years shows that the rate of failure due to E. coli detections in chicken rice samples have decreased. In addition, there has been no reported foodborne illness cases involving chicken rice since 2020. SFA will continue to engage and remind the chicken rice stallholders on good food safety practices and
monitor these stalls to ensure that food safety requirements are met.

Food safety hazards in chicken rice

Common food safety hazards associated with chicken rice are mostly microbiological, such as Salmonella and Campylobacter. These bacteria, which cause food poisoning, can be found in raw chicken naturally. Chicken rice can also contain E. coli. While most strains of this bacteria do not cause illnesses, it is commonly used as an indicator for food safety as high levels of E. coli is linked to poor hygiene, cross-contamination, poor storage practices, insufficient cooking etc.

The common preparation method in Singapore of gently boiling the chicken in stock and quickly quenching the cooked chicken in iced/tap water can lead to undercooking, where bacteria can continue to survive. After cooking, the chickens are often displayed at room temperature over an extended period, which also allows
bacteria to grow. When chickens are sliced to serve, cross-contamination could occur from handling meat or through the chopping boards and other surfaces. Likewise, these risk factors can be applied to similar food stalls, such as those selling roasted meat and economy rice.
