GOJEK DRIVER WHO DROVE CAR INTO SWIMMING POOL JAILED

0

A Singaporean Gojek driver who previously went viral for driving his car into a swimming pool at the Hillside Condominium back in February, has since been to two weeks’ jail.

Recap

On 28 February 2023 at about 9.10pm, a Gojek driver ended up driving into a swimming pool at a condominium in Bukit Timah after making a wrong turn while finding his way in the rain.

A resident who lives in the condominium, Luke, witnessed the car “going for a swim” and posted a video of it on TikTok, showing the car partially submerged in the pool.

He said that the driver of the white Honda was a PHV driver who was dropping off a passenger at the condominium at the time, at about 9pm.

It was raining heavily at the time and visibility was low.

Luke said that it all started when the passenger allegedly told the driver to turn into a path that was only meant for pedestrians, and the path led to the swimming pool.

The route was only meant for pedestrians and not vehicles, and a security guard told the driver to reverse his car out of there.

The driver then proceeded to perform a three-point turn in order to leave the path, managing to turn his car onto a grass patch and somehow managed to avoid hitting the poolside chairs and tables.

However, things then took a turn for the worst when he was at the final stage of his three-point turn but he accidentally stepped on the gas, driving straight into the swimming pool.

He then tried to reverse his car out of the swimming pool but couldn’t do so because the front tyres had already gotten stuck on the stairs inside the water.

The car was eventually pulled out of the pool by a tow truck at about midnight, and the driver escaped unharmed.

The Hillside said in a statement that the driver who drove into their swimming pool was a Gojek driver and that they are seeking legal advice for the damage caused.

The driver had reportedly hit some potted plants as well.

The Hillside said that they have reached out to Gojek regarding the claim for property damage, although it is unclear how badly the pool was damaged from the incident.

They investigated the incident and found out that the passenger was a woman who was visiting her family living in the condominium.

The management said in their statement that the driver had initially driven through the main entrance of the condominium before turning right into a dead end.

Their CCTV footage showed that the car remained stationary before moving into a narrow pathway that was meant for pedestrians only, leading towards the clubhouse beside the swimming pool.

The driver drove on the pedestrian path before coming to a stop at the clubhouse.

The condominium alleged that the driver was approached by a security guard, who told him to reverse his car, but he purportedly drove forwards instead, before turning right and ending up inside the pool.

The driver then alighted from his submerged car and told the guard that he was a Gojek driver.

Gojek said that they are looking into the case and are speaking to the customer and the driver to resolve the issue and take action.

They emphasized their desire to provide a “safe and positive” experience for everyone.

WOMAN’S HUSBAND SCREAMS WHEN HE PUKES, SAYS IT HELPS HIM FEEL BETTER

0

A woman shared how her husband ltierally screams when he’s puking, reasoning that it helps him feel better.

Here is the story

My husband screams while puking.

It’s horrible, but I get enraged when my husband is sick because of the way he pukes. He SCREAMS and gargles, I don’t mean normal noises i’m talking full on all out screaming, it’s legitimately unnecessary.

I’ve talked to him about it and all he can say is “it helps”.

It does not help at 3:30 am when he’s had too much to drink and I’m woken up to the sounds of a grown man emptying his entireties into my toilet.

I’ve never heard any other human being make as much noise when they’re sick, sos man. SOS

My husband doesn’t have a drinking problem, we rarely drink and he rarely actually gets sick FROM drinking but when he does it definitely is a phenomenon to behold.

I vented on a venting page this morning because I was annoyed after being woken up to these crazy sounds at 4 am and then listening to it for a few hours.

I came to see that many other people have this problem and we’ve laughed about it together, so thank you 🙂

Netizens’ comments

My husband sounds like a velociraptor when he pukes. I don’t even know how he manages to turn a stomach bug into a scene from Jurassic Park, but it was very unsettling the first time I heard it! After 16 years I’m used to it and now it just makes me laugh!

‘GENIUS’ FRIEND THINKS THAT BABY IN PREGNANT WOMAN IS NOT HERS

0

My friend Danny recently found out he might be a father. I say might because the girl he’s been having an off/on relationship with, Kara, is pregnant, and he’s not sure if he’s the dad.

She offered to get a paternity test once the baby is born and doesn’t expect any kind of support until they find out if the baby is his. He’s on board with that and appreciates that she’s not pushing him into fatherhood if the baby isn’t his. The issue is that when he was talking to me about it, he also said he wants to get a “maternity” test done to make sure the baby is hers.

Kara is visibly pregnant. We know she’s pregnant because she did a maternity photoshoot and posted it on social media, so it’s obvious she’s not faking being pregnant. We’ve both seen her in person, too and she’s most definitely pregnant. However, Dan believes that the baby might not be hers. I tried to explain to him that that’s not how biology works and unless she got an embryo implanted in her then she’s definitely the mother.

She’s a waitress and works for minimum wage + tips so I doubt she has the money to afford an embryo implantation. Plus it’s ridiculous to think that she’d do all that just to baby trap a guy who is unemployed and living with his parents at 32.

Plus he’s never donated sperm. He’s genuinely convinced that the baby might not biologically be hers despite not only me, his mom, and our other friends explaining that that’s not how babies/pregnancy works.

He’s still insisting on a “maternity” test and told me that I was being ridiculous and that I’m the one who doesn’t understand biology despite me studying to be an autopsy pathologist which has required quite literally years of biology classes.

I got fed up and called him a senseless idiot and told him to call me when he got his head screwed back on straight. Ever since then he’s been spamming my phone and has gotten a couple of our friends to spam me as well, telling me I’m being insensitive and he’s just stressed about possibly being a dad. So, was it wrong for calling my friend an idiot?

7 Y.O CHINESE BOY BRINGS BEER TO SCHOOL IN CHINA, CLASSMATES ALL DRUNK

0

In a surprising and somewhat bewildering incident, a first-grader in China’s Fujian province managed to turn his classroom into an unexpected scene of silence and intrigue. The young boy, just seven years old, embarked on an unconventional adventure by bringing bottles of fruit-flavored beer to school, sharing them with his unsuspecting classmates. This unexpected episode has sparked both amusement and concern, revealing the need for heightened parental awareness and education about the consequences of such actions.

The Unusual Incident

The Boy’s Cunning Move

The young protagonist of our story decided to seize the moment when he spotted two bottles of fruit-flavored beer in his home’s refrigerator. With a mischievous glint in his eye, he carefully stashed the bottles in his school bag, concealing them from the watchful eyes of his parents.

An Unexpected Classroom Surprise

Once at school, the daring seven-year-old couldn’t contain his excitement. During a break, he stealthily opened one of the bottles and shared its contents with his curious classmates. Little did they know that this unconventional beverage would soon lead to an unexpected turn of events.

The Intoxication

As the beer found its way into the young students’ bodies, the classroom gradually fell into an eerie silence. One by one, the children succumbed to the effects of the alcohol, dozing off at their desks in a scene that no one could have predicted.

The Aftermath

Discovery by the Teacher

The tranquility in the classroom didn’t go unnoticed for long. The students’ teacher soon arrived, only to find many of her pupils in an unusually deep slumber. Fearing the worst, she began her investigation to uncover the mystery behind this bizarre situation.

A Mother’s Shocking Revelation

With some students still sound asleep, the teacher wasted no time and immediately reached out to the boy’s mother. This call led to a startling revelation: the mother discovered that her fridge was missing two beer bottles. Overwhelmed by guilt and shock, she had to face the consequences of her son’s actions.

Apologies and Consequences

Realizing the gravity of the situation, the boy’s mother decided to make amends by apologizing to the parents of her son’s classmates. The rest of the class gradually woke up, relieved to find themselves unharmed but confused about the unusual events that had transpired.

The Punishment

As for the young protagonist, he was not spared the consequences of his actions. His mother, in an attempt to discipline him, made him face the wall and used a hanger for a spanking – a punishment that continued until the hanger itself broke. It was a tough lesson for the boy, but the question remained: did he even understand what alcohol was or the consequences of his actions?

Reactions and Reflections

A Mixed Bag of Responses

News of this peculiar incident quickly spread on Chinese social media platforms, drawing a wide range of reactions from the public. Some found the story amusing, considering the beverage in question was “only beer.” Others, however, voiced concerns and emphasized the importance of parental vigilance.

Amusement and Predictions

One Douyin user expressed their perspective, saying, “First of all, it’s wrong to bring alcohol, and secondly, it’s really awesome to drink with a group of people.” Another predicted, “This kid gets along with others well, and when he grows up, he will be popular and have many good friends.”

Serious Concerns

Contrasting the lighthearted responses were those who raised grave concerns. One Weibo user insisted, “Children drinking alcohol can cause irreversible damage to the brain and reduce IQ. Other parents should sue for compensation!” This comment serves as a stark reminder of the potential long-term consequences of such incidents.

The Imitation Game

Another observer pointed out a crucial aspect, stating, “Children can mimic [adults] really well. Eighty percent of parents drink beer at home, kids also want to feel it.” This raises important questions about the role modeling that adults provide for their children.

Conclusion

The curious case of a first-grader bringing beer to school may elicit both laughter and concern, but it underscores the importance of parental supervision, education, and open communication. While this incident may have had a somewhat humorous aspect, it serves as a reminder that children are highly impressionable and that adults bear the responsibility of guiding them toward responsible behavior.

GUY FOUND OUT HIS AUNTIE GAVE HER LIFE TO SAVE HIM, FEELS LIKE IT’S HIS FAULT

0

A netizen shared how he found out that his aunt died trying to save him when he was a toddler and now he feels responsible for her death and blames himself.

Here is the story

I have always known I had an aunt (my father’s sister) who died in an accident when I was young, around 4 or 5. No one in my family made a secret of it, there are pictures of her at my grandparents’ place and she’s mentioned fondly by my parents etc but they never talk directly about her death.

I have some memories of her, I remember she was very kind and would laugh often. She’d spend lots of time playing with me and I loved her a lot.

Well, last week, my mom (40sF) and I were watching TV and there was a car crash in the movie we were watching. I felt my mom tense up and when I looked at her she was uncomfortable and was looking down.

I stopped the TV and she wouldn’t tell me what was wrong but I asked if this was about “Aunt Kala” (not her real name). Then my mom started crying and she said yes. I wasn’t gonna push but then my mom said, “she died trying to protect you.”

She didn’t give me all the details but basically, my mom and my aunt were taking me to go to the playground, and I was so excited I ran ahead, crossing the road without looking. My mom was pushing my baby sister’s stroller and so my aunt dashed after me, a car was driving fast and my aunt didn’t stop to look and she was hit.

I’ve been feeling numb ever since. I feel like it’s my fault my aunt’s life was robbed so young.

My mom asked me not to tell my dad she told me because my family has promised not to say anything to me when they realized I didn’t remember anything from the accident. I’ve been trying to remember anything but I just don’t, not from the accident or going to the hospital after or the funeral. Nothing.

I want to apologize to my grandparents but I don’t know how. I’ve been worried there’s a part of them that’s been resenting me all these years even if rationally I know they’ve always been kind and loving to me. I killed their daughter. And my father, what do I say? Even my sister (12F), I stole her chance to know her aunt and to share the moments I had with her.

How do I approach this with my family? Is it better to act as if I never learned about the accident?

My mom has told me it’s not my fault and she knew my aunt wouldn’t have wanted me to feel this way but it’s not making me feel better. I know my aunt’s death hit my family hard and that they’re still grieving and missing her to this day. How can I apologize? I’m afraid this won’t be enough and that it’ll open up old wounds.

In a small hawker stall nestled in the heart of Kuala Kangsar, Malaysia, a tragic incident unfolded that left the community in mourning. Liu Youcai, affectionately known as “Big Brother Cai,” was a 58-year-old hawker who had dedicated two decades of his life to serving delicious, affordable meals to the locals. However, on September 19, 2023, tragedy struck as Liu fainted while frying his signature dish, falling face-first into a scalding wok of hot oil. Despite the valiant efforts of fellow hawkers, Liu eventually succumbed to his injuries. This article pays tribute to the man who not only served mouthwatering meals but also touched hearts with his compassion for animals.

The Man Behind the Hawker Stall

Liu Youcai was more than just a hawker; he was a beloved figure in Kuala Kangsar. Clad in a simple singlet vest and slippers, he stood out for his unassuming demeanor and dedication to his work. His stall was famous for its mouthwatering RM6.50 (S$1.90) fried chicken chop and rice, a favorite among locals. For two decades, he tirelessly served these delectable dishes, becoming an integral part of the community’s culinary landscape.

The Fateful Day

On that fateful day in September, as the clock struck 1 pm, Liu was in the midst of frying his signature fried chicken cutlet and crispy fries. Suddenly, he collapsed, falling headlong into a searing wok filled with scalding hot oil. A bystander, who was helping out at Liu’s stall, quickly alerted other hawkers for assistance. Together, they managed to pull Liu from the perilous situation.

A Community’s Effort

Liu was still alive and breathing when the ambulance rushed him to the hospital. However, the extent of his injuries was severe, with second-degree burns covering his face, chest, and back, along with smoke inhalation. Despite the best efforts of medical professionals, Liu passed away less than 1.5 hours later, leaving behind a void that could never be filled.

The Health Struggles

Liu’s older brother revealed that he had struggled with high blood pressure and high cholesterol, often experiencing dizzy spells. Concerned for his brother’s well-being, he had advised Liu to take better care of his health. However, Liu, a workaholic dedicated to his stall’s success, had little time to spare for self-care.

A Man of Dedication

Liu’s dedication was evident in his work ethic. He worked six days a week, and even on his day off, he returned to his stall to prepare ingredients. His stall opened at 8 am, and on good days, the food would sell out as early as 1 pm, a testament to his culinary prowess and the trust the community had in his cooking.

A Heart for Animals

Beyond his culinary skills, Liu was known for his love for animals. At home, he cared for 11 dogs, providing them with love and shelter. During his non-operating hours, he would take the time to feed stray cats and dogs, often preparing their meals with rice, sweet potatoes, and fish. His compassion extended beyond words; he spent as much as RM2,000 (S$583) each month on animal feed.

A Lasting Legacy

In the wake of Liu’s passing, his love for animals lives on. Six of his dogs have found new homes, a testament to the bonds he formed with these loyal companions. Liu is survived by four siblings and two godsons, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and a deep affection for both his community and the animals he cherished.

HUSBAND MARRIED WIFE BECAUSE SHE WAS GOOD ENOUGH, DOESN’T LOVE HER

0

I have been married for twelve years and no one could ever love me.

My husband admitted that he has never been attracted to me. He married me because I appeared “good enough” to keep his family off his back. Except they don’t like me either.

I’m not pretty enough. I’m not smart enough. My husband can’t think of a single reason why anyone would like me, and honestly neither can I.

I asked him loads of times if he was sure about this, about me, before we moved in together. Before we got married. Before we started trying for a baby.

He said he was sure. He hid it so well. I was delusional to think I was good enough for him to ever feel that way about me.

It’s not his fault I was too narcissistic and full of myself to accept the reality that I’m so obviously worthless and unloveable and ugly.

People used to like me. People used to be attracted to me. I know I haven’t changed that much. Were they all just faking? They must have been.

It was probably hilarious to them when I believed that I was likeable. What a delusional piece of shit I have been.

Who do I think I am? Someone loveable? Someone beautiful?

I’m not.

Netizens’ comments

I’m sorry you experience this, OP. You deserve someone who love you for who you are.

Is it possible for you to leave the relationship?

COUPLE RECEIVED NEWSPAPERS IN WEDDING ANG BAO

0

A lady shared a story on when someone came to her wedding and put only newspapers inside the red packet given to them and laments at how stingy can come people be.

Here is the story

“I had my wedding reception a few months back and we invited only invited family, relatives, some close friends and colleagues to the reception and the banquet due to the limitations brought to us by the pandemic.

We had wanted to share our joy with people who have been with us for the longest time and whom we deem as close to us.

The day went pretty well and very soon it was time for my husband and I to rest after a long and tiring day.

The next day, we were checking out all the ang bao blessings that we have received and noticed that there was one ang bao which was thicker than the rest.

Thinking that the person who gave us this was so generous, we excitedly opened up to see how much was inside.

Before I continue I would like to say that per table at our wedding was about 170 plus per pax and even so, we did not mind if we received lesser than that as all our guests were deemed by us as somewhat closer to us.

So we opened up the ang bao and to our horror, we took out a bunch of newspaper cuttings cut to the size of about a $50 dollar note and there were a bunch of it together, which explains why the ang bao looked thicker than usual.

We could not figure out who would have done this as there were quite a few ang baos without any names written on it and even so, those were filled with cash even though they might not be up to the price per pax.

This got me thinking on how stingy some people can be and furthermore they are closer to my husband and I.

I understand that everyone is fighting hard to survive in the pandemic and some might be tighter with their money but even if the person puts just a $2 note, we would still have accepted it and not blame them.

I thought of a plan to avenge myself if I found out who that person was but I don’t think I will be that heartless to do so.

The plan was either to do the same back to the person if he or she gets married in future or when their kids get married I would do the same.

The worst thing that I thought of was giving them back the same thing at their funeral.”

AMIN MEE GORENG STALL IN JURONG WEST SUSPENDED DUE TO INFESTATION

0

In a recent announcement by the Singapore Food Agency (SFA), Amin Mee Goreng Stall, a well-known food establishment located at Block 498 Jurong West Street 41, is set to face a temporary suspension for a duration of two weeks, starting from September 19th to October 2nd. This suspension comes as a result of the eatery’s accumulation of 12 demerit points over a 12-month period, raising questions about the consequences of such violations and the importance of food safety regulations.

Understanding the Points Demerit System

The Points Demerit System, implemented by the SFA, is designed to monitor and regulate the compliance of food establishments with food safety standards. Under this system, food establishments are assigned demerit points for various violations, and the severity of these points varies depending on the nature of the offense.

The Offenses That Led to Suspension

Amin Mee Goreng Stall incurred a total of 12 demerit points due to two specific offenses. The first offense was the failure to maintain licensed premises free of infestation, while the second offense was the failure to register an assistant. Both of these offenses carried six demerit points each, resulting in the accumulation that led to the suspension.

Consequences of Accumulating Demerit Points

The SFA has a strict policy in place for licensees who accumulate 12 or more demerit points within a 12-month period. Such licensees may face a range of actions, including suspension for either two or four weeks, or even license cancellation. These measures are implemented to ensure that food establishments maintain the highest standards of hygiene and safety for their customers.

Rehabilitative Measures

During the suspension period, all food handlers employed at Amin Mee Goreng Stall will be required to re-attend and successfully pass the Food Safety Course Level 1 before they can resume their duties. Additionally, the licensee must ensure that any food hygiene officers working at the suspended premises, if applicable, re-attend and pass the Food Safety Course Level 3.

SFA’s Commitment to Food Safety

The SFA places great importance on maintaining impeccable food safety standards throughout Singapore. It is essential for all food operators to observe good food and personal hygiene practices consistently and employ registered food handlers. The agency emphasizes that it will not hesitate to take stern action against anyone found to be in violation of the Environmental Public Health Act.

Public Involvement

In the interest of upholding high standards of food hygiene at all eating establishments, the SFA encourages members of the public to play an active role. If you happen to come across poor hygiene practices in food establishments, the SFA advises against patronizing such outlets. Instead, you are encouraged to provide feedback via the online feedback form here or contact the SFA Contact Centre at 68052871, providing them with the necessary details for their follow-up investigations.

MAN HEAR NEIGHBOUR BEATING GF, TRIGGERED CHILDHOOD TRAUMA

0

I’m pretty sure I heard my neighbour beating his GF. I could hear him yelling and her screaming “stop” and “get off me”. I called the police but I felt really guilty about it because I don’t want to be seen as a “Karen”.

My fiancé said, “well we don’t know for sure if he was hitting her”. He made me feel even worse. I hate him right now.

My neighbours fighting triggered my PTSD. My mother was a victim of domestic violence, and I watched her getting brutally beaten up when I was only five years old. There was one occasion where my mother was screaming for help and her boyfriend placed a knife to her head and threatened to chop off her head if we called the police.

I wish I was like everyone else and I could just mind my own business, But I couldn’t live with myself if he killed her or put her in a hospital. I know it’s not my job to save everyone but stuff like this bothers me.

Here are what netizens think:

You shouldn’t beat yourself up over something like that. It’s better safe than sorry. If you were able to hear all that – more than likely you were in the right to get involved.

You may have saved her life. Even if you didn’t, it’s better to be wrong in that situation than right and she ends up with a concussion, at the very least.

Don’t feel bad about calling the police or being a “Karen.” A Karen intervenes for her own ego, not to help others. You did the right thing for your neighbour, even if you misinterpreted what you heard.

As someone who was once a victim of my ex and no one called, I think you did the right thing. The Police will intervene and they actually did help me once they were involved
