CIVET DEAD IN MIDDLE OF SG ROAD, KIND MAN BURIES IT SO IT WON’T BE DISCARDED LIKE TRASH

0

In a world often filled with news of tragedy, stories of human kindness and empathy bring a glimmer of hope. One such heartening incident occurred when a deceased civet was found on the road, prompting a compassionate individual to take immediate action to prevent further harm.

On the night of July 1st, a member of the public stumbled upon the lifeless body of a civet. The precise location of the incident was not disclosed, but according to the post shared on the Singapore Wildlife Sightings Facebook group, the area was described to have a nearby forest that had been partly cleared for other purposes.

The unfortunate civet was suspected to have met its untimely demise after being struck by a vehicle. Spatters of blood around the animal on the road hinted at the tragic nature of the incident. The collision with the vehicle claimed the life of the civet, leaving it vulnerable and exposed on the road.

Recognizing the potential danger posed by leaving the carcass on the road, the compassionate individual took matters into his own hands. Instead of simply leaving the deceased civet exposed to the risk of being repeatedly run over by other vehicles, the kind-hearted person decided to bury the animal.

Here is what he said

Found this dead Civet Cat along my neighbourhood road, which a car sadly ran over last Sat night.

Likely one of the few living in my area after it’s home, a forest nearby, was mostly cleared for housing and met its unfortunate end.

But the fact the driver killed this Civet just left it like this, lying in the middle of the road where other oncoming cars can still run over it, is just sad since the road was more than quiet enough for him to at least move it to the side.

As a result, I properly buried the Civet in what’s left of the forest to let it rest in peace and not get “discarded” like trash the next day.

It’s also the least I could do, since we humans and our greed are the reason why it ended up in this sorry state.

I just sincerely hope our gov not continue destroying the little wildlife left as, one day, there might be none.

WOMAN WHO HAD LEG CUT OFF AFTER IT GOT SUCKED INTO TRAVELATOR, CAUSED BY “MISSING SCREW”

In June, a distressing incident took place at Don Mueang Airport, leaving a woman with severe injuries that ultimately led to the amputation of her leg.

The incident occurred on a travelator, where her whole leg got stuck inside it and she had to have her whole lower left leg amputated.

Associate Professor Weerachai, a member of the fact-finding committee responsible for investigating the incident, stated that it was indeed an accident. Following a committee meeting on July 7th, he shared crucial details regarding the root cause of the incident.

The investigation uncovered a significant issue with the travelator’s structural integrity. The panel of the travelator on which Ms Kittirattana stepped had only one remaining screw instead of the necessary four.

Over time, screws may have worn out or fallen off due to the travelator’s prolonged operation spanning 30 years. This structural deficiency created an unsafe condition that led to the unfortunate incident.

Contrary to initial speculation, the incident was not caused by luggage or a broken comb on the travelator. The investigation confirmed that these factors were unrelated to the incident. Instead, the focus remained on the missing screws and the resulting instability of the travelator panel.

Despite the travelator’s age, Associate Professor Weerachai emphasized that the sensor system remained functional. It reacted promptly to the incident, bringing the travelator to a stop within 10 seconds. This demonstrates that the travelator’s safety features were operational, but the structural issue compromised its stability.

The prompt response of four flight attendants and technicians who rushed to Ms Kittirattana’s aid highlights the importance of immediate assistance during emergencies.

Steady Recovery and Rehabilitation

In a Facebook post, Ms Kittirattana’s son, Kit, expressed gratitude to Associate Professor Weerachai for establishing that the incident was not a result of his mother’s negligence.

He also shared a video documenting his mother’s rehabilitation process. The footage showcased Ms Kittirattana’s progress, with her ability to walk over 15 meters.

However, she still requires practice to regain her daily routines, such as getting into bed and going to the bathroom.

Planning to sue

According to news reports, Ms Kittirattana is considering legal action against Airports of Thailand (AoT), the state-owned company responsible for operating airports across Thailand.

The incident has raised questions about the maintenance and safety protocols of travelators and the accountability of airport management in ensuring passenger safety.

Recap

A shocking incident occurred at Bangkok’s Don Mueang Airport, resulting in a woman losing her lower left leg. The incident took place at approximately 8:40 am on June 29.

The woman’s leg became trapped in a moving walkway after she fell down due to an impact from a piece of luggage.

Reports from Don Mueang Airport confirmed the occurrence of the accident, which left the woman severely injured.

According to Thai media Manager Daily 360 Degree, the woman’s leg was completely severed above the knee and she was then sent to the hospital.

S’PORE GUY WENT KTV, PLAY WITH WOMEN ALREADY THEN LEFT WITHOUT PAYING

0

Telegram group SG Secret Channel issued an appeal for information on a man who visited a KTV establishment and left without paying.

They said that the man had allegedly “forgot” to settle the outstanding bills for the KTV room, the beverages and the additional services.

The page added that the man had purportedly promised the ladies there they he would be back after a while but he never came back, leaving the women waiting as the bill remained unpaid.

They also added that the man might have been drunk at the time, resulting in his “lapse in memory”.

The page appealed to those who recognise the person in the two photos that they shared, asking those who recognise him to get him to come back and settle his bills.

Here is what the page said

Does anyone recognize this individual? Please, I implore you to reach out to him urgently! It’s crucial that he be made aware of the grievous oversight he committed at a KTV establishment, where he forgot to settle his outstanding bills for the room, beverages, and additional services.

It appears his lapse in memory may have been due to intoxication. He had promised the ladies there that he would return after a short absence, but alas, they anxiously waited and waited, only to be left abandoned and forsaken.

MAN CANNOT MOVE ON IN NEW JOB, KEEP COMPARING WITH PREVIOUS JOB

0

How long do you guys take to adjust to your new role and stop thinking about your previous role?

I joined a reputable company that is expanding their operations in Singapore a few weeks ago and as much as I feel that it’s a great opportunity for me to learn new stuff, I find that I am too used to how things worked in my previous company and I do have a bit of regret somehow in joining this company.

Compared to my previous job, I have a base salary increment of only 6% (I tried to ask for 15-20% increase but they were unable to give it to me due to budget constraints and I have to accept it as this is the only offer I received), and after adding in transport allowance, I only had an increase of ~$300 after deducting CPF. This increase in salary is however, I feel negligible as my new company’s pickup point is located far from where I lived, more time and money is wasted on transport, compared to my previous company where the pickup point is near my house and I am saving a lot more in terms of transport expenses. The only thing I am looking forward to is having better benefits in my current role as my previous role is a contract basis and I can’t be certain if I would be converted to a full time role and I can’t be certain of my future in that company, so I was quite happy but sad that I left my previous company as my current role is a full time role.

What are some methods you guys take to adapt to your new role and how long do you guys take to adjust and stop thinking about your previous role? Things are very different from what I used to do and as a new hire working in a start up, things are very messy here (organisation structure are all over the place, different people working together have different supervisors), not to mention about the fact that majority of my colleagues are specially hired for this startup so a lot of them have less than 1 year of experience in here but they bonded well with each other and I find that it’s hard to gel with them. I missed my previous company for great colleagues and cheaper food compared to my current company. To be honest, I have the thoughts of job hunting for something that pays better and leave during my probation period so that it would be good for both myself and my current company but I worry that I would get blacklisted by them if I were to apply to them in the future.

The weird thing is, I don’t mind doing something similar to my previous company doing routine stuff but after a while, I crave for something new and I would get bored easily because of that.

MAN TRIES TO ROB NAIL SALON CUSTOMERS, GETS IGNORED BY EVERYONE & LEAVES IN SHAME

On July 3rd, a peculiar incident unfolded at a nail salon in Atlanta, Georgia. The Crime Stoppers Greater Atlanta Facebook page shared surveillance footage of an attempted robbery at the salon.

What made this incident truly extraordinary was the complete lack of reaction from the individuals present.

The incident took place at Nail1st, a nail salon located in Atlanta, Georgia. The surveillance footage revealed an individual wearing a blue hat, sunglasses, a black T-shirt, and blue jeans, barging into the salon with the intention to rob it.

As the would-be robber demanded everyone’s compliance, an astonishing scene unfolded. Instead of reacting with fear or complying with the robber’s demands, the customers and staff at Nail1st salon appeared unfazed. They continued their conversations, laughter, and activities as if the intrusion was a mundane occurrence.

Perhaps the most surreal moment captured in the surveillance footage was when the shopkeeper, seemingly undisturbed by the robbery attempt, casually answered a phone call on their landline.

Among the individuals present, one woman stood up and confidently backed out of the store while shooting a disapproving look at the frustrated robber.

Another woman, wearing an orange top, was approached by the man shouting for his money, but she chose to ignore him and averted her gaze.

Despite his continuous yelling and demands, the would-be robber failed to elicit any response from those present at the salon. Their lack of compliance or even acknowledgment seemed to deflate his sense of power and control.

Dejected and unable to intimidate or coerce anyone into surrendering their money, the unsuccessful robber finally walked out of the storefront, defeated by the sheer indifference displayed by the salon’s patrons.

The incident at Nail1st not only captured attention due to its peculiar nature but also raised questions about the state of society, human behavior, and the power of collective noncompliance. It highlighted the astonishing capacity of individuals to remain unfazed in the face of a potential threat.

Psychologists have weighed in on the incident, suggesting that the lack of reaction could be attributed to a phenomenon known as “normalcy bias.” This cognitive bias leads individuals to underestimate the likelihood of a threatening event and, consequently, respond in an unexpectedly calm manner.

Crime Stoppers Greater Atalanta’s Facebook post

Investigators with the Atlanta Police Department’s Robbery Unit are asking for assistance from the public in an ongoing investigation.

On July 3, 2023, officers responded to 2625 Piedmont Rd. NE (Nail1st) in reference to a business robbery. Witnesses indicated the suspect entered the location wearing a blue hat, sunglasses, and blue jeans.

The suspect demanded the patrons get on the ground and surrender their money. The suspect then fled the location in a silver in color sedan.

GIRL THINKS SISTER’S BF IS A LOSER BECAUSE HE PROPOSE WITH A SMALL RING

0

Is it a red flag?

My sis is 22. She’s seeing this guy for a few months. He’s 26, an old repeat student and jobless. Before my sister starts her job in another country, he proposed to her with a measly tiny diamond ring. The diamond is so small I think it’s not even 0.2 carat.

I told my sis to not accept his proposal and just start her job without him. For context I often see my sister crying her eyes out while on the phone so I know they have frequent fights. He always accuse her of cheating when she’s just home with me. He also have been making my sister pay when out on dates and have been trying to make my sister give him money when they go out. He’s also extremely rude to me when he shows up at our place. I hate him so much and I can’t wait for my sister to get rid of him.

How do I get rid of this jerk?

Here are what netizens think:

  • Sleep with him and send your sis a video of both of you having fun.
  • You can give her all the advise but if she’s stubborn , she will never listen to instead will assume you are jealous regardless of your good intentions. Whatever it is, leave her be, it’s her choice if she wants that jack S One day, after years of burn out, she will open her eyes big big. This is the time when. She needs your sisterly support. Be there for her when the time comes.
  • Just ditch him off, cut all contacts. If hes not rich, medium or low income but works hard its different. Don’t look at the quality of gold as the amount of love for someone, look at his character as a person. But this guy is sucking all her hard earned money out while being jobless. Big no.
  • Ask your sister what made her attracted to him in the first place and what kind of future she sees with a man who is able-bodied, yet prefers to remain unemployed and dependent on her to support him long-term. If she can’t think of anything, try to convince her that she needs to let go of the relationship. There is a limit to how much we can do for a loved one who remains delusional and refuses to acknowledge that there is no hope and future, but only a lot of stress, mental deterioration and heartbreak in such a relationship.

FAS PRESIDENT SAYS HE MADE MISTAKES BUT HE CAN DO BETTER, HOPES S’PORE WIN 2029 SEA GAMES

0

Football in Singapore has been facing significant challenges in recent months, leading to scrutiny of the Football Association of Singapore (FAS) and its acting president, Bernard Tan.

The disappointing results of Singapore’s football teams have prompted calls for changes within the organization. However, Mr. Tan has stood firm, expressing his commitment to driving Singapore football forward.

In an interview with The Straits Times (ST), he acknowledged his past mistakes and highlighted the steep learning curve he has experienced since assuming the role of acting president.

The poor results of Singapore’s football teams have ignited a wave of public dissatisfaction, leading to online calls for the resignation of the FAS executive committee, including Bernard Tan.

Critics argue that fresh leadership is needed to address the persistent issues and revitalize Singapore’s footballing prowess.

A FAS review conducted post-SEA Games revealed ten findings that shed light on areas needing improvement. Tan candidly admitted his past shortcomings and expressed a desire to rectify them. He recognized the importance of centralization in training and the impact it had on the team’s performance.

One of the key findings of the FAS review was the lack of centralized training before the Merlion Cup, which significantly affected the team’s performance at the SEA Games.

Tan explained that challenges related to national service commitments, school obligations, and the observance of Ramadan limited players’ availability for centralized training. These constraints, in turn, had a detrimental effect on the team’s preparedness.

Tan admitted that, in hindsight, he would have taken different measures to address the challenges faced by the team. For instance, he would have sought the assistance of technical director Michael Browne to support the SEA Games coach, Philippe Aw.

However, despite offering additional resources, the SEA Games coach declined the assistance, leading to a missed opportunity for improvement. Tan takes full responsibility for his decisions and acknowledges the lessons learned from these experiences.

Bernard Tan made it clear that if he loses the support of the football community, he would be willing to step down from his position.

Looking ahead, Bernard Tan envisions a brighter future for Singapore football. With initiatives like the “Unleash The Roar” (UTR) project scheduled to launch in 2024 and a talented group of young players emerging, Tan remains optimistic.

He believes that with enhanced training, increased overseas exposure, and the development of a robust infrastructure within the FAS, Singapore has a chance to achieve success.

Unleashing The Roar: The UTR Project

The “Unleash The Roar” (UTR) project is set to commence in 2024 and holds great promise for Singapore football. This initiative aims to transform and elevate the standard of the sport by investing in training, talent development, and infrastructure.

By providing players with increased opportunities and exposure, the UTR project aims to cultivate a new generation of skilled footballers who can compete at the international level.

Bernard Tan recognizes that a strong infrastructure is crucial for the long-term success of Singapore football. By establishing a solid foundation within the FAS and employing dedicated staff to support the national team, Tan aims to create an environment conducive to growth and improvement.

A well-structured organization can provide the necessary resources and guidance for players to reach their full potential.

With an eye toward the future, Bernard Tan has set his sights on the SEA Games that Singapore will host in 2029. By implementing the UTR project and allowing a two-year preparation period for the team, Tan believes that Singapore stands a better chance of achieving success.

He remains optimistic about the talented crop of young players and their potential to bring glory to the nation in the 2029 SEA Games.

Challenged fan to come out “face to face” after 7-0 loss

Following the Singapore football team’s record-breaking and history-making 7-0 loss to Malaysia at the SEA Games on 11 May, tensions were understandably high and boiling over.

Netizens vented their outrage at the inexplicable humiliation of our football team and questioned the standards of the persons in charge, with a few of the arrows being directed at the Acting President of the Football Association of Singapore, Bernard Tan.

One netizen called out Tan and told him that he was not worthy of his paycheck and told him to resign from his position as head of the FAS, and Tan then issued a scathing response, challenging the netizen to come out and meet him face to face.

Tan said in his reply that he doesn’t get paid, and told the netizen that instead of attacking him online, he challenged the netizen to meet him face to face, which he said was a “one time offer”.

He then left behind his email and told the netizen to arrange the meeting, after which he will “delete” him.

The netizen then told Tan that he can’t “just leave Singapore fans in the dark, if things keep going like this, the game we love will die.”

Netizens and fans online were shocked and outraged by Tan’s response to the fans, comparing his comment as being similar to how people would ask their rivals to settle their problems outside through fighting (ie. “eh not happy 1v1 outside ah”).

Following the public outcry against his behaviour online, Tan posted on his account saying that emotions were running high at the time and that he regrets responding and said that he apologises deeply for what he did.

He said that he holds himself to a higher standard and that he is human and was hurting too, before setting his Instagram account to private and changing his profile bio to “sorry”.
