J&T EXPRESS DELIVERYMAN HELPS PUT OUT FIRE AT CUSTOMER’S HOME, COOL AND CALM

In a heart-stopping incident, a homeowner in Singapore found herself faced with a blazing fire in her kitchen, unsure of how to combat the flames.

However, fortune smiled upon her as an unexpected saviour arrived at her doorstep precisely when she needed it the most.

The knight in shining armour who came to the rescue was identified as a courier with J&T Express, who cooly and calmly assessed the situation without panicking.

Interestingly, it was later revealed that the courier had served in the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) during his National Service (NS) days, which likely accounted for his composed demeanour despite the escalating inferno.

An insightful TikTok clip shared by Side Eye News documented the intense moments of the incident. The video commences with a glimpse of the kitchen stove engulfed in flames, sending plumes of fire upwards.

Upon witnessing the alarming sight, the quick-thinking courier promptly sets aside his camera and proceeds to evaluate the situation, inquiring if there was oil on the kitchen counter.

He then improvises a technique to smother the fire by utilizing what appears to be a damp cloth, skillfully aiming to douse the flames.

The initial attempt of the courier yields partial success, as the flames gradually recede. However, this progress is accompanied by the billowing emergence of dark smoke within the kitchen, creating a new challenge.

Undeterred, the courier perseveres and repeats his firefighting approach, swiftly retrieving another moistened cloth. As the concerned homeowner watches helplessly, he resumes his valiant efforts to combat the persistent blaze.

According to reports from STOMP, this incident occurred on May 25.

20 Y.O WORKER KILLED IN TANJONG PAGAR BUILDING COLLAPSE WAS FAMILY’S SOLE BREADWINNER

0

A migrant worker who was reported missing following the collapse of a worksite in Tanjong Pagar, was found dead on 15 June following extensive search and rescue operations.

Following the tragic incident, more details about the deceased have since been released.

The deceased worker, a 20-year-old Indian national, had arrived in Singapore merely ten months ago and was the primary provider for his family.

The 20-year-old is survived by his parents and a younger brother, who are currently in a state of disbelief and shock over the untimely demise of their son.

The victim, identified as Mr. Vinoth Kumar, hailed from a small village in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, as shared by one of his cousins in an interview with Shin Min Daily News.

The Straits Times reported that Mr. Kumar arrived in Singapore in September 2022, approximately ten months ago. He had obtained the job through his granduncle, Mr. Raja, who worked in the same demolition company.

Upon receiving news of his grandnephew’s disappearance, Mr. Raja, who was responsible for Mr. Kumar’s welfare in Singapore, immediately rushed to the scene of the incident.

He reached the Tanjong Pagar worksite around 8 p.m., nearly two hours before the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) personnel were able to recover Mr. Kumar’s body from the rubble.

Heartbroken by the loss of his grandnephew, Mr. Raja expressed his emotions when asked to identify the body. The 44-year-old lamented to The Straits Times, saying, “He is my family, my baby. He grew up in my home, and I took care of him. How long can I continue to cry?”

Mr. Raja described Mr. Kumar as a responsible young man who only spent money on food, sending the remainder back to India every month.

Mr. Kumar’s parents worked odd jobs, earning a meager income of S$3 to S$4 per day. With Mr. Kumar’s steady earnings, he had become the sole breadwinner for the family.

Accompanied by a group of 10 friends and relatives, Mr. Raja went to Singapore General Hospital on the morning of June 16th to claim his grandnephew’s body. They plan to expedite the embalming process before repatriating the remains to India.

DELIVERY RIDER IN CHINA JUMPED OFF BRIDGE & INTO RIVER TO RESCUE DROWNING WOMAN

An extraordinary incident unfolded in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, on Tuesday afternoon, which has captivated Chinese social media users. A remarkable video has gone viral, showcasing a deliveryman’s courageous act of saving a woman from drowning by leaping off a high bridge.

In the footage, the deliveryman, dressed in a black T-shirt and black pants, can be seen gripping a railing on Xixing Bridge. This significant bridge spans the iconic Qiantang River and stands at a height of 12 meters. After a brief moment of preparation, the deliveryman fearlessly plunges into the river below.

Without hesitation, he swiftly swims toward the struggling woman, emerging from the water and grasping her, before guiding her to the nearest pier for safety.

Shortly thereafter, prompted by onlookers, an emergency lifeboat races toward the pair, ultimately rescuing them.

The brave deliveryman, identified as Peng Qinglin, 31 years old, shared his account of the incident. “I was on the way to deliver an order, riding my bike across the bridge,” Peng recounted. It was during this routine that he heard the desperate cries for help.

Peng wasted no time. He removed his glasses and shoes, placed his phone aside, and took the plunge into the river. In a widely circulated video interview, he admitted to being somewhat frightened by the bridge’s imposing height but emphasized the urgency of the situation. “She was being swallowed by the river,” Peng explained.

Originally from Zhangjiajie, Hunan province, Peng has been working as a deliveryman in Hangzhou for over a year. His typical workday starts at 10 am and extends into the early hours of the following day.

Recalling the moment Peng and the drowning woman were safely rescued, an unnamed police officer shared, “The first words he uttered were about his delivery being late.” The officer commended Peng’s commitment to his job, as even during such a critical event, he remained mindful of his responsibility.

Fortunately, the client was understanding and forgiving, despite the order arriving over 10 minutes past the expected time.

Upon viewing the video on a WeChat public account, one netizen expressed admiration, commenting, “What a hero!” The post swiftly garnered approximately 40,000 likes within a couple of hours.

Although Peng initially insisted he was unharmed, he was taken to the hospital the following morning. Medical examinations revealed a compression fracture in his spine, resulting from the impact of his jump into the water. While surgery is not necessary, Peng will need to remain hospitalized for seven to ten days.

Zhang Wei, president of Zhejiang Xinhua Hospital, provided insight into the incident, explaining the severity of Peng’s injuries. “Due to the height from which he leaped into the river, the impact upon entering the water was considerable,” Zhang stated.

Recognizing Peng’s bravery and selflessness, the Hangzhou police authorities honored him with the title of “Good Samaritan” and awarded him a cash prize of 30,000 yuan ($4,200). Additionally, the delivery company Peng works for presented him with a cash award of 50,000 yuan and offered him the opportunity to pursue a college education free of charge.

Modestly, Peng remarked, “I’m just an ordinary delivery guy, like many others. If I encounter someone in danger, I will undoubtedly extend a helping hand.”

He ran a whopping 24km from his home in Woodlands all the way to his workplace at Jurong Camp.

The route he selected seemed quite serene enough, with few people in sight, which is understandable considering that not many individuals would willingly run a distance of 24 kilometres to go to work.

Despite the daunting nature of the challenge, the man faced it head-on and seemed comfortable during the initial segment of his run. He traversed familiar traffic junctions and stations along the way.

He ran through and passed by the Singapore Turf Club, before finding himself among the shrubbery and trees of the Railway Corridor.

After covering a few more kilometres, passing through residential neighbourhoods in Jurong and Pioneer, he successfully arrived at his office inside Jurong Camp.

Although it remains unclear whether he made it to work on time, the accomplishment of reaching his final destination impressed many viewers.

A netizen asked him how long did it take for him to reach his workplace, to which he revealed that he clocked in 2 hours and 38 minutes during the run.

0

21-year-old Dang Mai Huyen Trang, a performing artist from Vietnam who was caught moonlighting at a bar, attempted to bribe a Singapore police officer with $100 so that he wouldn’t take any action against her.

The sergeant, a 24-year-old sergeant of the ground response force, refused the bribe, resulting in the arrest of Trang in the early hours of November 5, 2022.

Trang pleaded guilty in court on Friday (16 June) to a corruption charge and received a one-week prison sentence.

Background

During the incident, Trang held a valid work permit as a performing artist for a company called De Koma, which specializes in entertainment establishments.

On November 5, 2022 at about 1.45am, Trang was working on the side at Fusion Eight, a bar located in the basement of Fook Hai Building on South Bridge Road, when a police officer and two colleagues conducted an enforcement operation.

According to Deputy Public Prosecutor Brian Tan, “Suddenly, someone shouted ‘Police, run!’ in Vietnamese, and the accused fled the pub with other women.

As the officers approached Fusion Eight, they witnessed the accused and the other females running out, prompting the three police officers to split up and pursue them.

The police officer caught up with Trang and another Vietnamese woman in a corridor and requested their identification cards to perform further checks.

At that point, Trang took out a $50 bill from her bag and attempted to hand it to the officer, who declined the offer. Undeterred, she retrieved an additional $50 from her bag, offering a total of $100 to the officer.

The officer rejected her offer for the second time, resulting in her arrest at approximately 4:20 a.m.

During subsequent questioning, Trang admitted her awareness that offering money to police officers was illegal and acknowledged her attempt to offer cash to the ground response force sergeant in order to avoid arrest.

51 Y.O REPEAT DRINK DRIVER WHO CRASHED INTO MAN & KILLED HIM @ OPHIR RD, PLEADS GUILTY

0

A driver collided with a man whose car had broken down on Ophir Road, resulting in his death, after consuming four glasses of red wine during dinner.

Ang Hiap Boon, aged 51, had a breath alcohol content that was more than twice the legal limit when the accident occurred in October 2020. On Friday, he pleaded guilty to two charges, including causing death by driving without due care and attention.

What happened?

On the night of October 26, 2020, Ang had consumed wine at a restaurant located on Syed Alwi Road. He then drove his wife’s white BMW towards his residence.

Ang traveled along Jalan Besar Road and made a left turn onto Ophir Road, where a slip road connects to the East Coast Parkway.

Although the speed limit on the slip road was 50km/h, Ang was driving between 64km/h and 74km/h.

In the left lane ahead of him, there was another white BMW that had broken down due to engine issues. The driver, Mr. Syed Kaleemullah Syed Erufanulla, aged 56, was standing outside his vehicle, which had its tail lights illuminated. He was walking from the rear to the driver’s side of the car when Ang collided with him.

The impact caused Mr. Syed to be thrown forward onto the road. He was unconscious when taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

A breathalyzer test conducted after the accident revealed that Ang’s breath alcohol content was 76 microgrammes per 100ml of breath, surpassing the legal limit of 35 microgrammes per 100ml of breath.

In court, footage from Ang’s in-car camera was shown, depicting the high-speed collision with the victim and his vehicle. The judge cautioned those present about the graphic nature of the video and offered an opportunity for anyone who wished to leave before its playback.

Repeat offender

This was not Ang’s first encounter with the law. The court learned that Ang, who held the position of vice-president of operations at a company and was a director in his own consulting firm, had previously been fined and disqualified from driving for 16 months in 2005 due to a drink driving offense. A list of his prior traffic violations, which included multiple instances of speeding and disregarding red light signals, was also presented in court.

Ang is considered a serious repeat offender, and his case is believed to be the first of its kind since the enhancement of traffic laws in 2019.

As a result, the judge requested further submissions from the prosecution and defense to provide guidance to the court, and subsequently adjourned the case. The next hearing is scheduled for August.

Persons who cause death by driving without due care and attention can face a maximum sentence of three years’ imprisonment, a fine of up to $10,000, or both.

A serious repeat offender may receive an additional prison term of up to four years and may also be subject to a driving ban.

For repeat drink driving offenses, offenders can be imprisoned for up to two years, fined between $5,000 and $20,000, and disqualified from driving for five years.

The footage, lasting two minutes and 51 seconds, was brought to public attention through multiple sources, including Facebook user Miu Tan.

The video shows a young girl kneeling before a woman wearing a black short-sleeved top. The girl holds her right hand up to her face while the woman, seated behind a desk seemingly grading assignments, strikes her repeatedly with a pen.

The woman verbally berates the girl in Vietnamese, accusing her of dishonesty. Subtitles in the video indicate that the girl denies the accusation and implores the woman to stop the physical assault.

During the confrontation, the woman’s anger escalates, leading her to strike the girl forcefully enough to cause the pen to fly out of her hand.

A boy seated nearby witnesses the altercation and returns the pen to the woman. The woman continues to berate the girl, using profanity and subjecting her to further physical assault before the video concludes.

WOMAN SAYS MEN MUST HAVE A CAR FIRST BEFORE SHE DATES THEM, “I’M A PRO GOLD DIGGER”

0

Back then I believed in true love but I started to see the comfort of another woman, they have boyfriends to chauffeur them around and I’m taking bus and MRT with my boyfriend.

Soon I got a bf with a car, but it was an old broken piece of junk he calls it a “car”. It was so noisy and the aircon was never cold. I ended it with him because I did not feel comfortable. I needed some more atas car to fit me.

So, I’m a gold digger. But not the way you’re thinking about it, I’m a pro. I check the newspapers for financial transactions, then “bump into” someone who’s just made a lot of money and ask them out.

that’s how I met my current husband, but he was a player for most of his life so he genuinely thought i was into him (or so i thought at the time).

he implied that he was exhausted from the drama and just wanted a homely girl to be the mother of his children, so i played the part and kept up the charade as we were dating, and then as we got engaged, then married.

Unlike a lot of professional gold diggers, my final goal wasn’t some doormat workaholic husband who will fund a lifestyle of luxury for me as he toiled endlessly while I swiped his credit cards all day.

I just wanted to live an upper middle-class lifestyle as a stay at home mom, i genuinely wanted kids, and wanted to be the best mom i could.

But slowly i found myself falling in love with my husband. I lived a pretty brutal life and developed somewhat sociopathic tendencies as a result like being able to use people without feeling guilty and not caring about people, but one day as i woke up next to him and thought about how i would be really broken if he died, or left me somehow i realized my feelings for him were genuine

i felt bad about manipulating him, and after a few weeks i gathered up the courage and told him everything, how I’m a gold digger who wanted him for his money, and how i played a part the whole time so he would marry me, but to my surprise he just laughed it off and went on with what he was doing

He told me he knew all along, and how he was already cynical about relationships and “understood” that whoever he married wouldn’t be 100 percent genuine and that’s just “something you have to deal with”

I’m partly relieved that he’s not gonna divorce me, but I’m also bummed out, it’s totally reasonable to not trust me because of what i did, but it’s a bit too much to not trust anyone.

Is there any way i can show him that I’m genuinely into him now, and invested in the relationship?
