ELDERLY WOMAN NEEDS A CANE TO WALK, STILL WORKS EVERYDAY & ONLY GOES HOME AT 11.30PM

0

Looking for Social Services for an Elderly Neighbour

One of my neighbours, she’s very old. She walks with those 4-legged cane. The problem is that she’s still working, almost everyday. I always see her around 7.30pm and she comes home around 11.30pm. I always meet her because I get back from school and reach home the same time she goes to work. I found out she comes home at 11.30pm cus thats the time when i go for a jog.

She commutes using the public transport to her work which is a 10 min bus ride away. (I coincidentally met her at her workplace, it was a supermarket)

So I am a young male, and it takes me 3-4 minute to walk from our block to the bus stop. However, she walks extremly slow, like one step at a time, using her cane. It would probably take her around 30mins instead.

And most importantly, there is no traffic light at the bus stop area that she boards the bus. Its a wide 3 lane road (6 lane both ways). Sometimes I would be there to escort and stop the traffic for her, but other times when Im not there.. god knows who will help her. This is what i mostly worry about.

I would help her but I am still a student and frankly I dont know how. If anyone can recommend me any social services or help group that can assit her, that would be great. If anyone wants to help her, feel free to DM me and I can share the details.

Thank you!

  1. You have a good heart OP. But in which area do you think auntie needs help in – to cross the road to the bus stop? Perhaps writing in to LTA to suggest a new pedestrian crossing would be more helpful than social services per se which are more targeted at providing financial assistance etc.
  2. Talk to her family first if you want to call social services. Not all people would be happy if someone calls social services on them out of concern, you need to get their consent first. This is more of a road design issue than a social service issue too.
Also contact LTA and suggest any improvements that they may be able to make.
  3. You could highlight it to your MP at the next MPS. Chances are the authorities already have their eyes on her.

MAN CAUGHT HIS BOSS CHEATING WITH HIS WIFE’S BEST FRIEND INSIDE TOILET, PANICS

Caught my boss cheating with his wife’s best friend

Our company was celebrating securing another five year contract with a massive client, we do these office parties quite often with every biggish achievement, it’s our bosses way of appreciating our work (bonuses are awarded too) & to boost morale as the workload can get intense.

Anyway the party was well underway in our boss’s house, everyone was drunk indulging in good food and generally having a good time, needing the bathroom I excused myself.

I blame it on the alcohol or perhaps the loud music just above but I didn’t hear anything to give me warning of the horror of what I would witness until I stumbled into the unlocked bathroom and saw my bosses wife’s best friend, (also an employee of his) riding my boss as he sat on top of the toilet.

I rushed out immediately after, I didn’t even hesitate I headed straight for the front door walked for what felt like forever then went home.

This all happened last night and I’ve just woken up with a killer hangover bracing for the impact for the awkward encounter I’ll have with my boss on Monday…lol.

  1. Guess who’s about to get a raise
  2. congrats on the promotion!!!
  3. Now is the time to “request” that mega raise you so deserve
  4. 3 options. Never tell or talk about it again. Blackmail boss. Or tell wife. I’d do the third
  5. As a wife myself, and while I know that telling the wife is the ethically correct thing to do, what exactly would be the benefit of telling her?
OP’s job and therefore his livelihood would absolutely be on the line.
Secondly, there is no telling what sort of arrangement the couple has. If you’re f-ing the best friend while your wife is around, maybe you aren’t as concerned with her finding out. Maybe that’s why the woman is a “best” friend. Maybe the wife doesn’t want to know or doesn’t care.
Finally, you have no proof. What exactly will you be telling the wife and how easy would it be for your boss to spin this and make you look like the bad guy? “disgruntled employee who is facing termination decides to fabricate a story to blackmail boss.”
I just don’t see a real win/win situation for you here.
I would start looking for a new job immediately, your boss obviously has some ethical issues (if not for cheating, then at least for sleeping with an employee without being discreet). Once you’ve secured a new position, send an email to the wife with your entire encounter and let her do what she wants with that information.

GLASS PANEL DROP & SHATTERS @ TAMPINES SHOP, 5 INJURED, INCLUDING MAN WHO BLED NON-STOP

0

A panel of glass inexplicably fell and shattered at a spectacle shop located along Tampines on 9 June, resulting in 5 people being injured.

According to Shin Min Daily News, some of the injured parties were workers involved in the renovation project, responsible for removing the glass at the time of the incident, while the others were bystanders.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said that they received a call for help regarding the incident at Block 201E Tampines Street 23 around 1 pm on Friday. Subsequently, the SCDF transported the five injured individuals to Changi General Hospital.

Remnants of the incident could be observed outside the shop, including bloodstains, shards of glass, tissues, and blood-soaked gauze.

A female eyewitness recounted that the workers had successfully removed one piece of glass before proceeding to work on the second piece, which suddenly fell with a loud noise. She noticed one worker sitting on the ground, with injuries on his arms and face.

The witness also mentioned that while other individuals sustained cuts on their hands, their injuries appeared to be less severe compared to the worker mentioned earlier. Paramedics used a stretcher to transport him into the ambulance.

Severed artery in wrist

Another male witness informed Shin Min that nearby residents quickly sought help from nearby clinics upon noticing that the worker’s wrist was bleeding profusely.

Fortunately, a doctor from a clinic arrived promptly to provide assistance. The doctor explained that many clinics were closed for lunch breaks at that time, but upon being informed of the incident, he rushed to the scene to offer aid.

According to the doctor, he believed that the shards of glass had severed the worker’s artery, causing prolonged bleeding. Acting swiftly, he applied pressure to the worker’s arms and tightly bandaged the injuries to control the bleeding.

The doctor reassured that although the worker had lost a significant amount of blood, his condition was not life-threatening.

Speaking to Shin Min, the owner of the spectacle store expressed uncertainty about the cause of the glass falling. However, he speculated that prolonged usage may have contributed to the deterioration of the glass.

Despite the incident, the owner stated that the renovation works would proceed as planned.

GIRL MAKING OUT WITH GUY SHE MET ON DATING APP, KISS HALFWAY KENA CHOKED & SLAPPED

0

Hi, I’m not sure if I’m even posting this to the right place or how to do this exactly but anyways I’m here because last night I was kind of taken aback by my date.

We met on a dating app and have been texting for a few weeks but made last minute plans to get a drink last night. So we got a few drinks and then he asked to go to my car.

I figured he wanted to kiss so I said yes. He was such a gentleman. He opened the door for me to the bar and to my car which I thought was so sweet (most ppl don’t open car doors on dates anymore).

So we started making out in the car but it was soft and gentle, then he starts biting. After a few minutes, he asks can we drive somewhere else.

It’s close to my house so we went to a park I know close by. So we get to the park and start making out again…then I climbed on top of his lap and sat on him while we kissed.

It started getting a little rough with lip biting and light choking. Then he lightly taps my face on my cheek with his finger tips and I remember thinking “that was so soft. He better keep it that way”.

Then all of a sudden out of nowhere when I stop kissing him and look up at him, he slaps me hard. I was so shocked I didn’t know what to do.

Then he did it again but even harder. I was honestly scared. He was so gentle at first and was so delicate with me, licking and kissing everywhere so passionately, then all of the sudden “SMACK”.

I understand this is like something that he is into and I didn’t know what to say after. I’ve never had that happen before and I don’t think I liked it.

Before he did that, he whispered “you’re safe” during the choking (which I do like) and maybe the soft taps were a warning that he was about to really slap me but I was really caught off guard.

I thought maybe if someone were ever to do that to me, they would ask before or wouldn’t do it so hard. I mean, that was one of the hardest smacks I’ve ever had (I’ve only ever been slapped on the bum which that’s saying something bc slaps on the bum go pretty hard).

I don’t know if I should just embrace the 50-shades or obviously tell him I didn’t like that, but my biggest concern is that he may end up physically attacking me.

I just found this very odd because we never discussed it beforehand and this was our first time meeting. Very bold of him I thought.

MAN HORRIFIED TO FIND SIM CARD NEEDLE INSIDE HIS CHILLI CRAB FROM JOO KOON RESTAURANT

0

A diner patronised a seafood restaurant with his elderly mother for a Mother’s Day celebration, and was horrified to findd a phone SIM card needle in his chilli crab, according to Shin Min Daily News.

The restaurant promptly apologized to the customer and offered a discount as a goodwill gesture. The diner, identified as Mr. Zhang, told SMDN that the incident took place on May 14 when he decided to treat his 71-year-old mother to a special Mother’s Day meal at Uncle Leong’s Signatures in FairPrice Hub, Joo Koon.

Mr. Zhang had taken advantage of an online gift voucher, opting for the one-for-one chili crab promotion. As he and his mother were enjoying their meal, he noticed something floating on the surface of the gravy just before he was about to consume it. To his shock, he discovered a 2cm-long SIM card needle.

The restaurant staff promptly replaced the dish with a fresh plate of chili crab, but the incident had already dampened Mr. Zhang’s appetite. As a result, he decided to pack the food to take away instead. Although the restaurant offered him a 20% discount, he declined since he had already used his voucher to settle the S$88 bill and had spent an additional S$29 on other items.

When Mr. Zhang sought an explanation from the chef, he did not receive a clear response. The restaurant vaguely mentioned adherence to food safety protocols during preparation. Speculations arose regarding a potential oversight during the crab’s importation or the needle being present inside the crab from the beginning.

However, Mr. Zhang pointed out that he found the needle in the gravy, suggesting it was unlikely to have originated from inside the crab. He also expressed his belief that the staff should have detected the needle during thorough checks conducted while preparing the food.

Mr. Zhang speculated that the needle might have fallen into the dish when a member of the kitchen staff was handling their SIM card. He expressed concerns about the potential consequences if either he or his mother had accidentally consumed the needle, which could have required a hospital stay or even an operation to remove it.

When approached by Shin Min, the restaurant manager, Mr. Sun Yonghua, stated that he personally apologized to the customer on the day of the incident. He further mentioned that he interviewed the kitchen staff and confirmed that no one had been using their phones, emphasizing the establishment’s strict rules against mobile phone usage during working hours. Despite reviewing CCTV footage and consulting with the staff, they were unable to determine how the needle ended up in the dish.

Acknowledging their negligence, Mr. Sun expressed regret over the incident and assured that the restaurant would exercise greater care in the future.

MAN SAID DIVORCE LAWYERS EARN $2,000 IN 30 MINS

0

A man who recently went through a divorce felt that it is so easy for divorce lawyers to earn money as the process for his divorce was so fast and furious.

Here is the story:

I went online to seek divorce lawyers and I managed to pick a few and found the cheapest one. After arranging the appointment with the lawyer, I went down and the lawyer started to ask about my situation.

I told him that my wife who is a foreigner has gone missing and probably away from Singapore after failing to contact her. Even though she agreed with the divorce. she did not follow through it and went missing.

The lawyer told me not to worried and asked me for a few key details such as the identification number and detail of both myself and my wife, he then started to draft the letter to submit to a court.

He asked for my contact details and my wife contact details and type in the letter that she was uncontactable and missing despite trying. The lawyer told me to dial the phone a few times and take a screenshot to attach as evidence.

The whole process for the lawyer to type and submit the letter to the court took less than 30mins. After 30mins I was told to pay around $2,000.

That’s it, the lawyer tells me to wait 3-7 months and I will most probably get approval for the divorce.

30 mins get $2,000. Lawyers earn more than doctors.

MAN WHO WAS JAILED FOR SLEEPING AT EAST COAST PARK – NPARKS: “IT WAS LAST RESORT”

0

The Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) and the National Parks Board (NParks) issued a joint statement on Saturday (Jun 10), explaining their decision to take enforcement action against an individual residing in a shelter at East Coast Park. The man in question, Jackson Chan Kian Leng, 46, had persistently refused assistance and prevented others from using the facility.

On May 30, Chan was officially charged with the offences of residing in a public park without a license and smoking under a park shelter. Unable to pay the imposed fine of S$1,400 (US$1,042), he received a four-day jail sentence.

In response to media inquiries, NParks and MSF revealed that they were first made aware of Chan’s situation in June 2020. Despite repeated offers of shelter, he declined and exhibited resistance to any form of aid. The agencies noted that Chan appeared to be in good health.

In April 2021, MSF attempted to engage with Chan once more, but he refused to provide his contact details or give consent to be referred to social service agencies.

Subsequently, during Singapore’s COVID-19 Phase 2 (Heightened Alert) period, which occurred between the middle and end of 2021, Chan was observed staying at the East Coast Park shelter despite its closure and cordoned-off status.

As a result, he received six composition notices between December 2021 and April 2022.

According to NParks and MSF, Chan consistently displayed uncooperative behaviour, showed hostility towards officers, and even splashed water on a security officer patrolling the park.

In August 2022, Chan was duly informed that further enforcement action would be taken unless he vacated the shelter.

However, despite NParks’ repeated attempts to communicate with him and connect him with relevant agencies, Chan persisted in occupying the shelter until May of this year. It is worth noting that during this period, he informed NParks officers that he had a home in Singapore, a claim he reiterated in court.

MSF disclosed that it has been working closely with the Partners Engaging and Empowering Rough Sleepers (PEERS) Network, a collaboration comprising various community groups, to engage with and support individuals experiencing rough sleeping.

For the purposes of their efforts, MSF defines “rough sleepers” as individuals sleeping in public spaces, while they consider “homeless” to be those lacking access to adequate housing.

A nationwide street count conducted by the ministry in November of the previous year revealed a decrease of approximately 40 per cent in Singapore’s rough sleeping population, with the number falling to 530 since the previous study conducted in 2019.

“Ones who are willing to receive assistance have been supported through befriending and outreach, coordinated case support, and provision of shelter,” stated MSF on Saturday.

In the event that members of the public encounter rough sleepers requiring assistance or shelter, they are encouraged to email PEERS at [email protected], call ComCare at 1800-222-0000, or utilize the “Help Neighbour” feature on the OneService app.

MAN INVEST ALL HIS MONEY IN ASSET MANAGEMENT COMPANY & LOSES IT ALL

0

A netizen shared his horror story after he lost all his money after trusting an asset management company.

He did not mention the name of the company as the company is of such magnitude that he is scared of potential lawsuits. Mr Lee (not real name) said that he was curious about managing his assets and hope that he can get a positive return on his investment through an asset management company.

Mr Lee put in over $100,000 of his cash savings with the asset management company which promised him that it is a very safe fund that is able to beat inflation although it does not earn him much.

He was convinced by the words of the fund manager and decided to proceed with it. Little did he know in a short period of 8 months, his portfolio decreased a staggering 80%.

He called the fund manager and he told Mr Lee that due to the uncertainties of the market the analysis has not been accurate due to the situation happening worldwide. Mr Lee then questioned the fund manager on why this was not brought up to him during the consultation.

The fund manager “claimed” that he was only informed of the inaccuracies of the investments recently.

Mr Lee then said that a big company does not mean that it’s safe to put your money with them neither does it means that a small company cannot perform. He said that his only regret is going all out on 1 piece of the financial instrument rather than spreading his risk over several.

He said that it’s a lesson learned and hope others do not follow in his footsteps for investment.

FEMALE MOTORCYCLIST HIT BY LORRY & PINNED UNDER IT, DRIVER STILL WANTED TO REVERSE

In an incident that occurred on Friday morning, a female motorcyclist was injured after being involved in a collision with a trailer truck. The accident took place at approximately 11:40 am along Moulmein Road in the direction of Balestier Road, as reported by the police.

According to the Singapore Civil Defence Force, the victim, a 30-year-old woman, remained conscious throughout the incident and was subsequently transported to Tan Tock Seng Hospital for medical treatment.

A video captured by Mr. Fong Chun Cheong and shared on Facebook depicts the sequence of events. It shows a trailer truck slowly progressing through a traffic junction, seemingly unaware of the presence of a motorcycle ahead of it. The truck collides with the motorcycle, causing it to fall to the right side of the vehicle. As the trailer truck continues its movement, the motorcyclist ends up underneath it.

Approximately five seconds after the impact, the trailer truck comes to a halt. After a brief pause, the driver begins reversing the vehicle, eventually opening the door. At this point, Mr. Fong can be seen rushing toward the trailer truck. Mr. Fong, a 41-year-old funeral director and geomancer, witnessed the incident while driving in the opposite direction.

Concerned for the safety of the injured woman trapped beneath the trailer truck, Mr. Fong hurriedly approached the driver, urging him to cease reversing to prevent further harm. Acting swiftly, he aimed to safeguard the motorcyclist’s life. A companion of Mr. Fong managed to attract the attention of a nearby ambulance.

Mr. Fong recounted his interaction with the injured motorcyclist, stating that she remained conscious while pinned beneath the vehicle. She expressed discomfort due to the heat emanating from the nearby engine. Responding to her distress, Mr. Fong immediately requested the driver to turn off the engine and ensured they waited for the arrival of the ambulance before leaving the scene.

Police investigations into the accident are currently underway.

BF SMASHES STUFF DURING ARGUMENTS, EVEN IN THE PUBLIC

0

Hi guys, would need advice on whether I should stay in a “relationship” that I deem as toxic.

Basically, I’m not officially in a relationship with this guy but we’ve been together for almost 2 years. We fight so often & many times, the fights are very intense & aggressive. When things escalate, he would usually shout at me while standing close to me & face down to me (i don’t really know how to describe his stance; but it’s an aggressive stance). When he does this, I wouldn’t even back down & would face him head on and fight it out with him (i admit my words can be too harsh during these kind of fights & note that my temper are really bad so sometimes i maybe the one that escalated the fight).

But ya, he raised his hands during a few of these fights but have never actually laid hands on me. He’d usually end up throwing my stuff across the room, snatching my phone away to make me stay (because i’d usually try to leave the room & get away from him), or he’d smash stuff. Just to note, he does not raise his hand/ throw or smash stuff/ snatch my phone in every single fight. It’s only during these very intense ones, but these happened probably more than 6-7 times during the 2 years – and 1 time in public.

Other than these intense fights, we also have very frequent long & random fights (heated but not as intense as the above).

These are the things that I can’t accept but at the same time, when things are good he’d be really very nice to me. He’d always tolerate me & gives in to me. He’d buy me stuff that I wanted to purchase myself to surprise me when I asked him for opinions on which item is nicer. He’d also always bring me to eat any food that I’m craving for & does many things that I want. Honestly, I would really settle down with him if not for the above stuff. I just don’t want to end up giving him a chance to actually hit me when our fight gets too intense? And I find that we fight way too often & too intensely with either willing to back down?

Oh on a side note, he snores REALLY loudly every night which disrupts my sleep so badly that I feel like murdering him sometimes. Any advice on how to make him stop snoring so that I can get some decent sleep when I’m with him would be greatly appreciated please!
