MAN LAUGHED AT CLASSMATE FOR DRIVING TAXI, GOT RETRENCHED & NOW ALSO DRIVE TAXI

0

I was standing in the bank queue, waiting to withdraw some money, when I heard loud laughter coming from a group of men.

I looked to see what was going on and that’s when I saw him. It was my schoolmate, who I had not seen in years. I was surprised to see him, but what shocked me more was the fact that he was driving a taxi.

I laughed at him because he was a taxi driver

I couldn’t help but laugh at the sight of him. He had been one of the most popular students in our school and here he was, driving a taxi for a living.

I thought it was hilarious. I mean, he had been so ambitious and driven, always talking about how he was going to make it big one day. But here he was, driving a taxi.

My laughter soon turned to embarrassment when I realized that he had noticed me. We had a brief conversation and although he was polite, I could see the hurt in his eyes.

Obviously, he had seen me laughing at him. I immediately regretted it and wished I had kept my laughter to myself.

I got retrenched and ended up also driving a taxi

When I got to work the next day, I was surprised to find out that I was on the retrenchment list. My boss had had decided to let some of us go because the company was not doing well and I was one of them.

I tried to apply for jobs but could not get one and was at my wits end.

I had no choice but to start driving a taxi. I was embarrassed to tell anyone that I was now doing the same thing my schoolmate had been doing. I felt like I had let myself down.

But then something unexpected happened. I actually started to enjoy driving a taxi. I found out that it was a great way to meet people and hear their stories. I also realized that I was able to make a decent living out of it.

It’s been a few years now since I started driving a taxi and I’m still doing it.

I still think about that day at the bank and I often think about my schoolmate. I hope that he’s doing well and I hope that he’s able to make his dreams come true.

I guess I can thank him for showing me that there’s nothing wrong with driving a taxi and that it can be a rewarding and fulfilling job.

VET @ LOYANG REFUSED TO TREAT WOMAN’S CAT UNLESS SHE PAID $72 “WALK IN FEE”

0

Pls share if appropriate to help raise awareness on the importance of finding the right vet for your precious fur-kiddos

On 3 March 2023 8.30pm, I left *vet name redacted* @Loyang Point with disgust and scorn. Despite they have had a previous bad track record of nurses misbehaving at their vet clinic playing with the castrated animal testicles that was captured on the news. My Dad & I decided to give the vet clinic a chance to treat my Hachi. With screenshot call proof, I tried calling *vet name redacted* clinic since 6.24pm to 7.25pm many times, I had hang onto the line for so long but No One Pick Up the call at all!

Hachi suffered an inflammation at his private area and he had vomited a few times yesterday. After numerous unsuccessful calls to *vet name redacted* Clinic ,we decided to head down to the clinic which is just a 15 min drive.

We arrive at 8pm, the clinic close at 9pm. It’s not pack neither did anyone told me the clinic is full. There are 3 staffs at the counter.

The nurse told me I must pay an additional walk-in fee $72.11 despite I had explained to her that no one pick up my numerous calls for 1 hour when I try to make an appointment. This is a vet clinic dealing with animal lives, how can they be so “uncontactable”?

Animals can’t talk, they can’t tell you where they are unwell, the vets are their voices. Don’t you think it’s strange that the vet clinic is so “Uncontactable” for so long ? Especially they house sick pets at their clinic too.

That’s so frustrating and wrong!

She referred me to see the Director ( Boss of *vet name redacted*) Doctor *doctor’s name redacted* in his room. He does not look friendly nor he seemed welcoming to me. He never once bother to ask me what happened to Hachi nor he has the care to take a look at Hachi for once. He only made it clear to me if I don’t pay the +++ extra walk-in fee $72.11, he will not see or treat Hachi at all.

I’ve always been more than willing to pay for Hachi’s vet fee but I am skeptical about this whole incident.

I asked *doctor’s name redacted* “How do I even made an appointment at *vet name redacted* Clinic when no one even bother pick up my numerous calls? “ He just shrugged & smirked & didn’t reply to me.

Despite I show him the call-proof from my Handphone, he told me 6-7pm they are all having dinner. But when I rebuked him that I even called *vet name redacted* from 7pm -7.25pm, no one picked up my calls at all.

Instead of been empathetic & apologetic, that *doctor’s name redacted* sarcastically mocked at me “If you are not happy with our service, you can go & see another vet clinic . I don’t think you’ll pay the add-on walk-in fee “

He immediately stood up & opened the clinic room door to chase both me , Dad & Hachi away . He would rather spent time insisting me to pay the add-on extra walk-in fee $$$ but never bother once to even take a look at my Hachi and check his condition to see if it’s an emergency case.

The fact that *doctor’s name redacted* prioritized on the extra fee payable to him rather than at least care about the condition of his animal patient made me doubt his professional ethnic code as a vet. Hachi has visited his clinic for his annual vaccination last year but was seen by a lady vet instead.

My last words to *doctor’s name redacted* is “ Unfortunately you have no professionalism as a vet and have no love nor compassion for animals at all. You are not fit to be a vet!”

In response, *doctor’s name redacted* replied me nonchalantly “Yes I’m not fit to be a vet!”

Pls be cautious when choosing the right vet for your furkiddo. Don’t feel obliged or fall prey into paying any additional pet service fee which cannot be justified without a valid reason. The phone calls I made to *vet name redacted* are never engaged. They rang but no one actually bother to pick up my calls at all !

The crux of the whole incident is the vet *doctor’s name redacted*‘s unprofessional handling & rude attitude especially when he is the Boss of the clinic. He never told me the clinic is full.He never mentioned he will be treating Hachi out of operating hours that’s justified the walk-in fee $$$. He just prioritizes I must pay the walk-in fee for Hachi to be treated now during the operating hours despite of my numerous attempt to make an appointment.

There are still 3 staffs around the counter when I just left the clinic. How busy is that no one pick up my calls ?

MAN SAYS TAIWANESE & SG GIRLS BOTH A BIT SIMILAR BECAUSE BOTH LIKE ANG MOH

0

As a Singaporean guy living in Taiwan for the past 5 years, I can confidently say that there are quite a few similarities between Taiwanese and Singaporean girls when it comes to their preferences in men.

A lot of them go for ang moh

It seems like a lot of Taiwanese and Singaporean girls share a common preference for Caucasian men.

I’ve had the opportunity to observe both Taiwanese and Singaporean girls up close and personal. I’ve seen them interact with men of different ethnicities, and it’s become quite clear to me that they both have a soft spot for Caucasian men.

This is quite a common occurrence in the dating scene in both countries. It’s not hard to find Taiwanese or Singaporean girls flocking to Caucasian men at bars, clubs, and other social events.

The reason why Taiwanese and Singaporean girls like Caucasian men is quite simple. It’s because Caucasian men are seen as exotic.

Caucasian men are seen as attractive and mysterious, and that’s something that draws the attention of many Taiwanese and Singaporean girls.

Another reason why Taiwanese and Singaporean girls like Caucasian men is because they’re seen as more stable and reliable.

It’s not uncommon to see Taiwanese or Singaporean girls looking for a Caucasian man to settle down with.

It’s also worth noting that Taiwanese and Singaporean girls like Caucasian men because they’re seen as more successful.

This is because Caucasian men are usually seen as better educated and more likely to have good jobs. This is something that appeals to many Taiwanese and Singaporean girls.

Don’t worry asian men like Singaporean still got chance with Taiwan mei mei

Having said all that, it’s important to note that not all Taiwanese and Singaporean girls have the same preferences when it comes to men.

I noticed that Taiwanese girls who like Asians tend to prefer Singaporeans and I myself had the privilege of dating some Taiwanese girls.

Some may prefer Asian men, while others may prefer men of other ethnicities.

However, it’s undeniable that there is a trend of Taiwanese and Singaporean girls preferring Caucasian men.

MAN CAUGHT KICKING CAT INTO BOX OUTSIDE HDB UNIT, THEN THROWS IT OUT @ STAIRCASE

A video emerged online showing a man caught on CCTV attacking a car outside an HDB unit, kicking the cat into a box and tossing it out of the box at the staircase.

According to the netizen who posted the video, the incident happened on 1 March at about 3 am, at an unspecified HDB building in Singapore.

The man was seen holding onto a cardboard box as he walked suspiciously towards the lift lobby, checking his surroundings to see if anyone was around.

A cat could be heard in the video meowing loudly in the background.

He then walked out of the video frame towards the staircase, before returning to the lift area moments later, swinging the box towards the cat and violently kicking it into another box.

He then picked up the box that the cat was in, before leaving it behind as he went to the staircase to once again check if anyone was around.

The man then returned to pick up the box that the cat was in as the little feline continued wailing, and he carried the box down the stairs.

He then set the box down and “poured” the cat out of the box, before fleeing the scene.

The netizen who posted the video on YouTube said that they will be making a police report about the incident.

COUPLE IN THEIR 40s APPLY BTO SUCCESSFULLY, NOW DON’T KNOW WHEN THEY CAN RETIRE

0

When my husband and I got our HDB flat in our late 40s, we were feeling so excited. We had been living in together with my family for so long, and we felt that we had finally achieved something and were finally getting our own place to call home.

Get already then suddenly regret

After getting the HDB flat, we had a little bit of regrets. We had already spent most of our working years and had not saved much for our retirement.

We thought that getting an HDB flat would be a smart move and would be a good investment, as we could rent it out to generate some income when we can no longer work.

However, now that we have our HDB flat, we are starting to regret it. We had not taken into consideration that we are already in our late 40s and might have to slog hard for another decade or so to pay for it.

We had not taken into consideration the cost of living and inflation and that we may not be able to afford to retire as planned.

We are now worried that we may have to work until we are too old to enjoy our retirement.

We should have saved more money for our retirement, and we should have considered other types of investments.

We now understand why it is important to plan for retirement early on in life, and we regret that we did not do so when we had the chance.

MAN RENTED GETGO CAR, REALISED BRAKES NOT WORKING & CRASHED, CHARGED $7.3K FOR DAMAGE

Recently, I rented a GetGo car and at the point of car collection, there was evidence of physical damage to vehicle and vehicle malfunction. The vehicle dashboard was lighted up with multiple warnings of malfunctions and the vehicle cannot be started.

Attached are the photos of the car during collection.

I reported via the GetGo App as well as communicated to GetGo via Live Chat. The GetGo agent then proceeded to reboot the vehicle remotely before the vehicle can be started.

When I was driving the vehicle out of the carpark, it skidded slightly during one of the turning even at low speed. I thought it could be due to oily surface in the car park.

At around 17.38hrs, I was travelling along CTE towards AYE before the Bukit Timah exit 6. The car started to swerve left and right and there was no ABS. It drifted to the next lane and I realised the brake was not working too. I tried to avoid hitting the car in front and the car started to spin. It then hit the centre guard railing twice before coming to a stop.

I contacted GetGo Accident & Recovery dept after the Traffic Police appt and received a claim $7320.

Included in the photo is GetGo’s recent reply.

I asked for the following by no reply from GetGo except a Final Reminder of the accident claim and threaten to hire Legal Debt Collectors.

1. When is the last maintenance and servicing report?

2. Why GetGo did not mentioned my report of the car’s condition and live chat during pick-up?

3. Proof the car was not leased over the next 5 days after the accident for their claim loss of use.

4. Details of the post accident report with photos to allow a third party provide an independent quotation of the repair cost.

The government should really regulate car sharing and make sure it is fair to the consumers.

SIAM BU WANTS TO FOLLOW ME BACK EVEN AFTER KNOWING ME ONLY FOR 10 MINS

0

As a first timer out with a friend at a bar at Orchard Tower, I had no idea what to expect.

We had gone drinking at many random establishment many times in the past, so I figured the night would be no different than the countless others we had went out together.

Little did I know that this night would record one of the newest experience in my drinking adventures.

Siam bu wanted to know me and wanted me to go back to her place

The moment we stepped into the bar, I noticed a hostess in her mid-thirties behind the bar. She had an air of confidence about her and a sparkle in her eye that made me feel like she was sizing me up from the moment I walked in.

My friend and I decided to grab a drink and take a seat at one of the tables.

She came over almost immediately to introduced herself and asked if she could drink with us and we started to play some games (five-ten/direction) and talked a little.

Before I could say anything else she began talking to me in a way that was a tell tale sign that she was interested in me.

She asked me questions more than what the typical hostess would ask to customers. She was friendly, but it felt like she was really trying to get to know me.

I tried my best to give polite but vague answers, but she kept pushing.

Kept trying to ask me to go back with her

After a few more minutes of this, she asked if I would like to come back to her place after the bar closed.

She said that she was living with only two more other colleagues and each of them had their own rooms so there would be a lot of private space for us.

I was taken aback and flattered, but I politely declined. She seemed disappointed, but she accepted my answer.

We stayed at the pub for another hour or so before my friend and I decided to head home. As we were leaving, the woman approached us again. She asked if I was sure I didn’t want to come back with her and gave me her address.

I was so taken aback that I could barely respond. I thanked her for the offer, but reiterated that I had to decline.

She seemed disappointed, but accepted my answer and wished me a good night.

NEWLYWEDS PAID S$155K TO TAKE PHOTO WITH TAIWAN VARIETY HOST JACKY WU

60-year-old Taiwanese variety host Jacky Wu was paid 800,000 yuan (or SGD$155,000) for an interesting wedding gig in Shenyang, China.

He was speaking during an appearance on the variety show Super Followers and shared about the job offer that he received a few years ago.

He said that he had initially wanted to turn down the gig because he had just finished a show in Shanghai and wanted to go back to Taiwan and see his family.

However, he was told that his manager had already accepted the job offer for him, which came with a hefty payment of about 800,000 yuan.

Revealing more about the gig itself, Wu said that he reached the venue in Shenyang at about 7pm, and that the wedding had already begun.

He added that there was a big banquet in front and a table backstage where only he and his manager were eating at.

He recalled seeing a few A-list actors and singers present, along with other artistes that were performing at the wedding.

He patiently waited for his timeslot until 8.40pm, and the newlyweds then approached him and told him that the groom had proposed to his wife by singing Wu’s song “Do You Remember Me Only On A Night Like This” from his debut album back in 1987.

Wu then found out that the groom’s father was a rich steel tycoon in China, and the couple then took two photos with Wu.

Wu ended up not taking to the stage and didn’t perform that night, but was still given a presidential suite at a high-end hotel to stay in.

He also received the payment for his “performance” that didn’t happen that night, essentially earning 800,000 yuan just to take two photos with the couple.

The easiest money he has ever made.
