MAN’S BROTHER-IN-LAW THREATENED TO WEAR A CLOWN SUIT TO HIS WEDDING AS A “JOKE”

0

My future BIL (35M) has threatened to wear a clown suit to my (34M) black-tie wedding.

Title basically says it all, but here’s some more context:

Future BIL is the ‘practical joker’ of the family. The jokes are always mean, but since he’s gotten by 35 years with nobody challenging him, they’re ‘funny’. I have not really engaged in this type of humor, and neither has my family. He follows through on his jokes to the final degree, as in, I don’t think he’s just enjoying making me sweat. I’ve never been the direct target of a joke until now, but they have ranged from “leaving a sleeping friend in a foreign country” to “pouring ice water all over his aunt”. I seriously believe he’s going to show up in a clown suit.

He is a completely neurotypical person with no issues that would make this action make sense, beyond being a self-centered jerk. If he were an autistic child who needed to wear a clown suit to go to an event, I’d have never opposed it.

Fiancee and I are having an intimate black-tie wedding with ~50 friends and family members. I have invited colleagues that I respect and care for as well. When I reached out to everyone to make sure the dress code was feasible, he wrote back that he was excited to wear a “clown suit”. I sent a funny emoji and asked if he meant “monkey suit” as a euphemism for the tuxedo (he isn’t really a formalwear kind of person) and he said nope, he meant clown suit, and sent a link to some giant shoes.

I called him and told him that if he didn’t have the right outfit, I’d gladly help offset the cost, as I know he’s in between jobs, but he got pretty huffy and told me that he could afford a clown suit just fine and was excited to party with us. We haven’t spoken since.

I asked my fiancee if we could refuse him entry if he showed up in a literal clown outfit, and she was uncomfortable with that idea because she believes that even if we did, her parents or sister would let him in because they also think it’s “funny” when he acts out.

I think that the only boundary I can assert right now is to tell him that this event has a specific dress code, and that if he showed up in something different than that dress code, I’d request that he change before attending or ask him to leave.

Having him present in a clown suit would obviously embarrass him, but it would embarrass me, my family and friends, and my fiancee. It seems like he and his parents are the only people who are amused by this idea, and it hurts my feelings that they are treating the wedding like a joke.

Fiancee believes that this is not going to work and will cause him to double down and maybe even go for the full clown makeup. Uninviting him is not an option at this point. Trying to discuss it with his parents goes nowhere.

As a last resort, I was thinking of telling any photographers or people to completely cut him out of the photos as if he’s not in attendence. It seems like he and his parents are the only people who are amused by this idea, and it hurts my feelings that they are treating the wedding like a joke.

WOMAN REFUSED TO GIVE UP SEAT IN BUS TO PREGNANT WOMAN – “ASK SOMEBODY ELSE”

0

I (f) was coming back home from school on the bus as I often do. In my stop there were plenty of seats available, I pick one in the back of the bus.

A few stops after a pregnant woman got in, she ignored the first seats (which are the priority seats) and came up to me and asked if I could give her the seat.

At the time the bus was crowded enough to not be any seats available. I told her no because I was tired and wanted to sit down.

She mumbled that I was an a-hole and said she’s 8 months pregnant, I told her I don’t care for that and that the priority seats are in the front of the bus.

Somebody else gave her a seat in the background but still made me feel kinda like an a-hole. I think I’m entitled to the seat if I got in before.

But I also don’t know if the people in the priority seats were people who really needed it so that woman couldn’t have asked them to give it to her.

Edit: every single seat was taken, I told her to go get one of those seats since people who don’t need them takes them anyway when the bus is crowded.

Also lots of people don’t want to sit in the front and would ask for a seat at the back near the door even though they’re entitled to the priority seats.

Netizens’ comments

  1. I find it kind of disappointing that an 8 month pregnant woman had to ask for a seat.
  2. So here’s the thing, you don’t have to give up a seat for a heavily pregnant person. It’s the kind, considerate, understanding and sympathetic thing to do and if you don’t don’t do it, then you are exactly what you think you are.
  3. It is disappointing what the world is coming to. Pregnant women act “entitled” now because of their “choice”. That’s where we are? What has happened to common courtesy and decency?

For the men throwing shade at the pregnant lady, may this never happen to your wife. To the women, may this never happen to you.

For the OP, it doesn’t take a lot to be decent to others. What was a minor inconvenience to you was not only a lot more for a woman that far along in pregnancy, but also potentially dangerous. If your comfort was that important, I do hope you had some then.

This old man will stand without being asked. Because my momma didn’t raise me to do any different than that.

MAN GOES TO GEYLANG, BLAMES IT ON GF FOR NOT ‘GIVING’ HIM

0

My friend and I went out to the bar last night and he started talking about how his girlfriend was not wanting to have relations with him anymore.

I asked him why and he said that it was because of the way she was treating him. I told him that he should talk to her about it but he said that it was too late and he was done trying to make it work.

He then suggested that we go to Geylang for some fun

That’s when he suggested that we go and find ‘chicken’ instead. I was completely shocked. I mean, I knew my friend was feeling a bit frustrated in the relationship but I never expected him to suggest something like that.

He said that it was just a one time thing and that he just wanted to try something new.

So we drove to Geylang to look for ‘chicken’ and eventually wounded up in one of the houses in the lorongs.

He went up to the OKT and started asking for the price while I stood there. I had tried to convince him to consider his relationship first but he put my words into deaf ears.

After a few minutes, he told me that he was going to pick one of the girls and if I did not want to, I should just go back to the bar to wait for him.

He said that he would be back when he was done. I agreed as I did not want to be seen there and drove back to the bar.

When he came back, he was acting strange and wouldn’t talk to me. I asked him what had happened and he just said that it was a mistake and that he was never going to do it again.

His gf found out about it and dumped him

The next day, he told me that his girlfriend had found out about it and dumped him. I was so mad at him for what he had done. He had put his relationship in danger and it had all been for nothing.

My friend went out to find ‘chicken’ because he thought it would make him feel better, but it ended up ruining his relationship and making things worse.

MAN CAUGHT BETWEEN WIFE & MUM AFTER MUM SLAPPED WIFE FOR NO REASON

0

I’m stuck in between my mum and my wife, and I don’t know what to do.

For no particular reason, my wife was slapped by my mum

It all started last night when my wife and I were visiting my mum for dinner. We had a nice evening and were about to leave when my mum suddenly slapped my wife in the face for no reason.

I was absolutely shocked and couldn’t believe what I had just witnessed.

My wife was understandably angry and demanded an explanation, but my mum refused to answer. She just kept repeating that she had done nothing wrong and that it was all my wife’s fault.

I tried to calm the situation down, but it was too late. My wife was already livid and demanded that we leave right away. I had no choice but to comply.

On the way home, my wife was furious and accused me of taking my mum’s side. I tried to explain to her that I was just as shocked and confused as she was, but she wouldn’t listen.

We ended up arguing all night and eventually, I just gave up and said she could do whatever she wanted.

Mum refused to answer why, just said it was my wife’s fault

The next morning, I called my mum and asked her why she had slapped my wife. She again refused to answer and said it was none of my business. All she said was that it was the fault of my wife.

I was hurt and frustrated, but I didn’t know what else to do.

My wife and I have been avoiding each other ever since. I feel like I’m stuck in between them and I don’t know how to fix this. I’m scared that if I take sides, the other will never forgive me.

I’m struggling to find a way out of this mess. It’s a horrible situation and I don’t know how to resolve it. All I can do is hope that one day, my wife and my mum will make peace and I can finally move on with my life.

CONDO SEEKS DAMAGES FROM GOJEK AFTER DRIVER DROVE INTO THEIR SWIMMING POOL

0

A white-coloured Honda Vezel was seen driving into a swimming pool at The Hillside condominium in Bukit Timah on 28 February.

The management of the condominium is now seeking claims of property damage.

The Hillside said in a statement that the driver who drove into their swimming pool was a Gojek driver and that they are seeking legal advice for the damage caused.

The driver had reportedly hit some potted plants as well.

The Hillside said that they have reached out to Gojek regarding the claim for property damage, although it is unclear how badly the pool was damaged from the incident.

They investigated the incident and found out that the passenger was a woman who was visiting her family living in the condominium.

The management said in their statement that the driver had initially driven through the main entrance of the condominium before turning right into a dead end.

Their CCTV footage showed that the car remained stationary before moving into a narrow pathway that was meant for pedestrians only, leading towards the clubhouse beside the swimming pool.

The driver drove on the pedestrian path before coming to a stop at the clubhouse.

The condominium alleged that the driver was approached by a security guard, who told him to reverse his car, but he purportedly drove forwards instead, before turning right and ending up inside the pool.

The driver then alighted from his submerged car and told the guard that he was a Gojek driver.

Gojek said that they are looking into the case and are speaking to the customer and the driver to resolve the issue and take action.

They emphasized their desire to provide a “safe and positive” experience for everyone.

UNCLES SMASHED BEER LADY’S HEAD WITH CHAIR BECAUSE SHE REFUSED TO PLAY GAME WITH THEM

0

Two men ages 65 and 57 are assisting the police with investigations after they were filmed attacking a woman and hitting her head with a chair at an Ang Mo Kio coffeeshop, according to Shin Min Daily News.

A 68-year-old man was sent to the hospital while a 44-year-old woman, who sustained minor injuries, refused conveyance.

What happened?

A fight broke out at the coffeeshop on 26 February and was filmed by a witness, showing a woman sitting on the floor, about to be hit on the head by a man holding a yellow chair.

She grabbed his clothes before another man in blue stepped in and separated them.

However, the man in blue then started punching the woman, and she tried to retaliate by kicking him, but he held on to her leg.

The man in black, who was holding on to the yellow chair earlier, then rejoined the fight, smashing the chair onto the woman’s head twice.

A few diners nearby then stepped in and stopped him, before the man then walked over and slapped the woman in the face and kicked her chest.

Victim’s POV

Speaking to SMDN, the woman who was assaulted, 44-year-old Mdm Lin, said that she worked as a beer lady at the coffeeshop.

She changed into her home clothes after work and was drinking with her friends, as a group of middle-aged men between 50-60 years old drank at a table next to them.

The group asked Lin and her friends to join them in a peanut betting game, but she declined and moved to another table, while her friends joined the uncles.

Lin then wanted to leave early and go home, asking her friend to stop playing; this made one of the uncles upset and he started hitting her.

Thereafter, another man then joined in the fight.

Injuries everywhere

Lin said that the men then left the scene before the police came and that someone must have called the police for help.

She shared that she didn’t go to the hospital after that, but the pain become too much for her to beat when she went to the police station the next day to lodge a police report.

The police then called an ambulance for her and she was sent to the hospital, where she was found with a broken toe – she also felt pain in her ribs, as well as a black eye and bruises on her head.

She was given 14 days of medical leave and can’t work as a result.

Friend tried to help but got attacked

Lin added that during the assault, a woman wearing a grey shirt and a man donning a helmet had rushed over to stop the attacker who was hitting her head with the chair.

Her 68-year-old friend who tried to help her was also attacked until his nose started bleeding, with his face and eyes injured and had to be sent to the hospital where he remained for 4 days.

The Singapore Police Force confirmed the incident and said they received a call for help on 26 February at about 1am at Block 630 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 4.

A 57-year-old and a 65-year-old man are being investigated by the police, with the investigations still ongoing.

6TH SUSPECT IN HORRIFYING ABBY CHOI MURDER ARRESTED, HELPED EX-HUSBAND TO FLEE

0

28-year-old Hong Kong model Abby Choi was previously reported to be found dead, with her dead body being dismembered and cooked, and her body parts stored inside a fridge.

Her ex-husband, former father-in-law, former mother-in-law and former brother-in-law were among 5 suspects identified and arrested.

A 6th suspect, 41-year-old Mr Lam, an employee of a yacht rental company, has since been arrested in relation to the gruesome murder, according to HK01.

Lam had allegedly tried to help Choi’s ex-husband flee Hong Kong after the murder.

Lam, the former assistant of HK singer and actor Ronald Cheng, was arrested on 2 March in Sheung Wan, Hong Kong.

He had allegedly tried to help Choi’s ex-husband, Alex Kwong, flee the country for HK$100,000 (or SGD$17,000).

He was arrested at the Tung Chung pier on Lantau Island with HK$500,000 (SGD$85,000) in cash as well as several luxury watches worth about HK$4 million (SGD$690,000) in his possession.

Search for Choi’s missing torso and arms

The Hong Kong police started search operations for Choi’s remaining missing body parts on 28 February after her remains were identified by her family.

They reportedly had to look through 4,000 tonnes of rubbish at a landfill, looking for the body parts that were inside 2 to 3 rubbish bags.

The three-day search came to an end on 2 March with no fruition, the police couldn’t locate her missing body parts and failed to find any new evidence.

The police also added that they are still trying to determine Choi’s exact time of death, and said that she was allegedly attacked while inside the car that her former brother-in-law was driving, before being taken into the house where she was murdered, unconscious.

They added that the suspects are not cooperating, making their investigations difficult; but they do belive that Choi’s former father-in-law is the mastermind behind the murder.

Recap

28-year-old Hong Kong model Abby Choi was found dead, with her body dismembered and cooked, according to media reports coming out of Hong Kong on 24 February.

The disturbingly gruesome murder was reportedly related to a financial dispute over HK$100 million (or SGD$17.2 million).

Choi’s ex-husband is currently wanted by the police and is at large, but his parents and brother have since been arrested by the police.

9 News reported that the Hong Kong police broke into a village house in the afternoon of 24 February, in the Tai Po suburb, which Choi’s former father-in-law reportedly rented.

Inside, the police found Choi’s dismembered legs, which were cooked, and stored inside a refrigerator, with the police also finding a meat grinder, an electric saw, and soup pots with human tissue inside.

A white 7-seater vehicle was also towed away by the police from the scene later that night.

At the time of writing, Choi’s head, torso and hands have also not been found yet.

HK01 reported that the model was last seen on 21 February wearing a white outfit on 21 February at about 2.15pm, and SCMP reported that her former brother-in-law had picked her up from her home.

He was also supposed to pick up Choi’s daughter, but Choi didn’t pick up her child and was later reported to be missing.

Police superintendent Alan Chung spoke to the media on 25 February saying that the murder was well-planned and premeditated.

He said that the property where her body was found, was carefully prepared for the purpose of cutting up a body, with nothing inside the apartment but a table and a couch, with the walls also being covered.

Choi had been providing financial support to her ex-husband and his family, and was allegedly being extorted by some of her ex-husband’s relatives.

Choi’s former brother-in-law and parents-in-law also made false and misleading statements to the police, with Chung saying that they created “plenty of lies and smokescreens to mislead us”.

They have all been arrested.

Missing head found

Choi’s decapitated head was finally found inside a big pot of soup, along with some of her missing ribs.

According to South China Morning Post, the discovery was made on 26 February, about 2 days after the rest of her body was found.

The authorities seized two large pots of soup on 24 February from a house in Tai Po Village, the same house where Choi’s severed legs were found.

The contents of the soup inside the pot had to be sent to a mortuary to be examined on 25 February and were filled to the brim with minced meat believed to be human tissue and soup, according to HK01.

Choi’s head was also found inside the pot of soup during examination by forensic experts, and it was almost intact – but it appears as if someone tried to smash it.

Her ribs were also found and are currently being stored with her head at the mortuary, and the police are still looking for her other missing body parts, including her torso and her hands.

The deceased’s 65-year-old former father-in-law and 31-year-old former brother-in-law have since been charged with murder, while her 63-year-old former mother-in-law has been charged with perverting the course of justice.

They were arrested on Friday (24 February) when Choi’s body parts were found and will be brought to court today (27 February).

Choi’s ex-husband, 28-year-old Alex Kwong Kong-chi, was also arrested on Saturday (25 February) at the Tung Chung waterfront, allegedly waiting for a speedboat to flee the city.

He is currently still being held by the police for questioning, with Choi’s two children under the care of her mother.
