MAN CLAIMS HE ONLY PLAY MAPLESTORY & SELL GAME ITEMS TO SURVIVE & BUYS ROLEX

0

How do people not even work at all their whole lives and live comfortably?

I have a friend who never held a full-time job his whole life before, and he has a degree, but however he just stays at home and plays computer games like maplestory and lives comfortably, going to posh places to eat.

When asked how he gets money he told me he earns from selling his game items, which really makes

me wonder if he is lying or he is really earning enough by simply selling his virtual items.

Funny thing is his family isn’t rich yet he can afford a Rolex and doesn’t seem in a hurry to get a job at all, while most of us here immediately go for interviews when we graduated from university.

Does anyone else have friends who don’t work yet are rich without depending on their family?

Here are what netizens think:

  • Maplestory items can go for thousands FYI.
  • Lesson: You will never really know someone’s financial status. You’re only seeing what others allow you to see.
  • How would you know he isn’t working from home? In the current climate, I have many friends who are working from home remotely and go in to office at most 2 to 3 times a month. A Rolex could be fake, or could be an investment. I didn’t know much about watches but earlier on when the kermits were going for like 8k, my friend told me that they would probably appreciate in value and at worst hold their value, I took my house, down-payment and bought 10 kermits and 5 daytonas. At the peak of the bubble, managed to sell them off and instead of only paying for the down-payment, I almost fully paid off my bto already.
  • Maybe he tio toto?
  • Hes thinking outside the maplestory box.

MAN SAID HE LIED FOR 30 YEARS, TEACHER SAY WORK HARD WILL SUCCEED IS FALSE

0

Depressing storytime. You know how in school your teachers tell you that hard work is most important than intelligence?

I used to believe that until I got into uni.

My PSLE 100+ almost went NT but got into NA stream. A lot of my classmates are typical pai kia, smoke in toilet, don’t go school and fake MC, have S in school.

I’m the more guai type, study hard, attend all my class but just bad at study.

Maybe I stupid, idk, sometimes I see my other classmates sleep in class all day, never go school, never do homework but exam time results is same or better than me and it make me very angry, why I just cannot understand how to study??

My father kena fired that time, no money send me tuition but my teachers always offer help, give me extra tuition after school. My outside friends all also very help me, give me their school notes and past year exam papers. They all very smart, go atas school and express.

N level ok, O level not bad can go poly. At first want to challenge myself, purposely choose harder course. School alumni team even ask me go back talk to the NA NT tell them about my success into going poly.

Few months in results like s*** again, lecturer also advice me maybe this course not my calling, not suited for my skills so change to easy course, close both eye also can pass that kind. Again study very hard, go to all my lecture always ask question and after school mug until last bus home then go home.

Everyone told me I age a lot. My outside friends all also ask if I ok because I look like shit. No matter how hard I also pia because my family not rich, cannot afford change course then drop out, unlike my outside friends can go overseas do masters do this do that idw sound jealous but actually I quite jealous them.

Meet up with outside friends, all grad already, always talk about their work life, their job, marriage plan, BTO. I sit there like idiot because I 3 years behind everyone. They not purposely make me feel like shit, also give me a lot advice like do internship, do online course and build up CV all. Meanwhile I still over here studying like dog no time do internship or online course.

After mugging like for years, surprise surprise, average result. F! 90% my course mate don’t even go lecture, always ask me and others help take attendance, but still results come back half of them better than me. F**. Really F, IQ 0 EQ also 0.

Reaching 30 years old finally got 1 gf at 20+++ actually is I feel like I just anyhow settle for a gf because parents worried I gay or cannot get married so I shoot my shot with every girl. After that find out she also feel the same, just settle with me like I’m rebound because she just break up with her bf and want get back at him. We still in rs but sometimes feel like we just lonely together aiya that’s another story for another time.

Keep applying job, kena rejected by 99.999% company, only lanjiao insurance scammer give me call back. All the company tell me I no experience so cannot. Eventually bo bian settle for internship $800 a month while my outside friends working lawyer, doctor, banker all making 5-10 times more than me, probably even more.

How? Hard work? PUI! Hard work can put food on table? Can do well in school, get good job? Joke. I accepted already I just stupid. Think my big take away is the reason why is call “success story” because it almost never fucking happen.

Maybe make me better person? Can eat a lot of shit 吃苦大王 too bad in life king of eating shit get shit eating job and shit eating life.

LORRY HITS PARKED CAR, THEN KAYSIAO ACT BLUR LIKE NOTHING HAPPENED & DRIVES AWAY

0

A video emerged online showing a hit and run accident involving a lorry and a parked Nissan Cabstar at a carpark.

The incident purportedly happened on 8 January at a carpark at Block 347 Ang Mo Kio, at about 1.53pm.

The parked car’s owner shared the dashcam footage and urged others to invest in and install a good car dashcam system, because “you never know when your car will need it.”

Here is what he said

This is just a BIG reminder to all car owners to have good car dashcam system installed. Cause you never know when your car will need it. And such things happens, it will pay for itself.

My car parked was stationary and met with a hit-and-run.

Potential penalties

It is a punishable offence to leave the scene of an accident, which is considered a hit-and-run – upon conviction, first-time offenders face a fine of up to $3,000 or a jail term of up to 12 months.

KIA VS MERCEDES, SPEEDING ALONG CTE THEN BOTH CRASHED INSIDE TUNNEL

A video emerged online showing a Kia and a Mercedes speeding down an expressway before ultimately crashing inside a tunnel.

The incident purportedly happened on 6 January at about 1.12am.

The Kia Forte and the Mercedes Hatchback were seen in the dashcam footage speeding down the Central Expressway (CTE).

At a later timestamp of the video, when the camcar drove through the CTE tunnel, the two cars were seen crashed inside the tunnel at the Havelock Road exit.

One of the cars had collided with a pillar inside the tunnel, with the impact being so great that the license plate was ripped off.

The other car had flipped and turned turtle, with a man in a black t-shirt and blue shorts peaking to some construction workers.

The accident slowed down traffic in the tunnel as workers who were performing road works in the area, helped to clear the wreckage and usher traffic.

The SCDF confirmed that they were alerted to the accident along CTE heading towards AYE, before the Havelock Road exit at about 1.30am.

One person was assessed for minor injuries and refused to be sent to the hospital.

31 Y.O S’POREAN WHO WAS KILLED AT WORK SITE – DEATH CAUSED BY FORKS NOT FULLY INSERTED

Unsafe use of forklift: Worker pinned under toppled machine

On 27 December 2022, a worker was guiding a forklift to position its forks under a machine. However, the machine toppled onto the worker. He was sent to the hospital where he passed away.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the forks of the forklift were raised before they were fully inserted under the machine. The lifting of the partially-inserted forks caused the machine to topple.

In 2022, there were six cases of forklift-related fatal workplace accidents. Two cases involved workers being crushed under forklifts that toppled from unbalanced loads, another two cases involved workers being run over or crushed by moving forklifts, and the remaining two, including this case, involved forklift forks toppling objects onto workers.

As forklift accidents can lead to serious injuries and death, the WSH Council calls on all companies using forklifts to undertake an urgent assessment of their safety measures in the use of forklifts.

What companies should do

Companies should urgently assess and ensure that their WSH management system includes the following measures or checks:

● Competent forklift operator: Allow only competent and authorised persons to operate forklifts. Ensure all forklift operators have completed the necessary certifications such as the Singapore Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ) Operate Forklift Course. Require forklift operators to attend refresher training at least once every three years.

● Safe Work Procedure (SWP): Implement a SWP for moving heavy equipment/machines. Consult the manufacturer for advice on how specific equipment/machines can be moved safely.

● Safe forking operation: Instruct forklift operators to carry out the following when using forks to pick up a load, and ensure that the operator has a clear view of the lifting operation:

  1. Check that the spread of the forks is suitable for the width of the load.
  2. Insert the forks under the load fully or as far as possible.
  3. Raise the forks slightly to check that the load is stable on the forks.
  4. Tilt back the forks slightly to prevent slippage before moving off with the load.

Wherever possible, loads ought to be placed on pallets as pallets enable safer load handling. Loads that may topple or fall and endanger a worker must be properly secured onto the pallet before being moved.

● Safe work zone: Require forklift operators to confirm all workers are in a safe position before starting operations. When picking up a load, the operator must only raise the forks when there is no one in the danger zone# should the load topple. Authorise operators to stop forklift operations once anyone comes into an unsafe position.

● Hazard communication and work supervision: Communicate to workers the possible on-site hazards and risk controls in place before allowing forklift operations to begin. Deploy a supervisor to oversee operations and ensure that the work is carried out as per SWP.

For more information, refer to the Singapore Standard SS 573: 2012 Code of Practice for the Safe Use of Powered Counterbalanced Forklifts, and WSH Council’s WSH Guidelines on Safe Operation of Forklifts and Forklift Safety Pack.

Penalties

Under the WSH Act, first-time corporate offenders may be sentenced to the maximum fine of $500,000 whilst individuals can either be sentenced to the maximum fine of $200,000 and/or an imprisonment not exceeding 2 years. Read more on the WSH Act penalties.

During the Heightened Safety Period (1 September 2022 to 28 February 2023), the Ministry of Manpower will impose severe actions for serious WSH lapses, which include:

  • Debarment from hiring new work pass holders
  • Company leaders to personally account to MOM and take responsibility for rectifications
  • Engaging external auditors to conduct a thorough review of company’s WSH processes

MAN BOUGHT $1.9K IPHONE FROM SHOPEE, GETS A BLOCK OF WOOD & 4 PLASTIC BAGS INSTEAD

0

A man, Mr Yu, bought an iPhone 14 Pro Max (256GB) via Shopee, and was scammed in the most inexplicable manner.

The 37-year-old healthcare worker shared his unsavoury experience with Shin Min Daily News, and said that he had purchased the iPhone for $1,961.

The seller said that the product would be delivered to his some on New Year’s Eve, and sure enough, the parcel arrived at his home and the delivery person hurriedly left after placing it outside Yu’s door and taking a photo as proof of delivery.

Yu then opened the package and all he found were four inflated plastic bags and a block of wood, with no sight of his iPhone.

Yu called Shopee’s customer service to ask for help and they told him to request for a refund on the platform, but when he requested for a refund, his request was denied.

The reason for his denied request was due to the payment already being released to the seller, and the package being sent to his address.

He then filed an appeal, before going back to inspect the package that he received, noticing that the adhesive tape at the bottom of the box was peeled off and pasted back.

Yu suspected that his phone was stolen during the delivery, and filed a police report.

WOMAN BOUGHT A $30 THERMOMETER FROM LAZADA, GETS A SANTA HAT INSTEAD & REFUND DENIED

0

Hi All,

Please beware of this seller Walker Hardy at Lazada.

I purchase a Braun thermometer and end up I received a Santa hat on 19 Dec 2022. I was shocked when I received it.

I contact the seller that I did not receive my item and ask for refund and begin reject by the seller. I call the Lazada customer service and they ask me to click return / refund but was rejected by the seller.

Really very disappointed and angry.

I wanted a refund back.

Netizens’ comments

  • Seriously that item cannot be just only 20 bucks. Legit selling 100 over, and it sell 20 bucks, way too good to be trust. Even if is really 20 bucks, any review in the first place that other received in good condition, else if zero sold , or no reviews, i won’t try.
  • Don’t pay first. Pay only when goods arrive. Open and see if it is correct. If the contents are not what you you want, simply return and don’t pay. This is where Sales of goods and services Acts come in.
  • Lazada a lots of scam seller. Customer service of lazada also very bad. Shoppe better
  • Never buy from Lazada!! Bad reputation with no integrity!!!

INTROVERTED WOMAN GETTING MARRIED BUT HAS NOBODY TO INVITE TO HER WEDDING

0

I have no one to invite to my wedding

I (24F) am so stressed and a little sad because we are currently planning for our wedding but I can’t think of a single person (except family members) to invite to my wedding. I am an introvert and I am always that person in the friend group that everyone forgets.

I feel so sad that I have no friends to invite. What should I do? 🙁

Netizens’ comments

  • Absolutely no shame in doing a simple ceremony. It is in fact a wiser decision. My cousin had family+some extended family over lunch at a nice spot, private room. we had a great time because we could chat, enjoy the food, the elderlies are all smiles and basically it’s good bonding.
Why be pressured into spending money for a banquet to impress people you don’t like :p my other family member had a banquet, got to find out she doesnt know a good bunch of folks at her own wedding (and neither does the groom lol) and till today hates the memory of it
  • One of the most special weddings I’ve been to was also the smallest. 2 of my close friends married at 21, simple ceremony in a pub with not more than like a dozen of us. No adults or parents around either. Fast-forward 12 years today and they’re still married, and even though I’ve been to many weddings since they’re all very forgettable and vanilla compared to that one.
Always remember that things don’t have to be extravagant to be meaningful.
  • I had a friend who was asked to be a bridesmaid to a girl she barely knew. They were hi-bye colleagues at best. My friend was confused asf because they weren’t on that level. She had to politely turn her down. But i feel like a lot of us feel the pressure to do things like others do. Not even friends for bridesmaids? Just don’t have bridesmaids. Not enough friends for weddings? Have a small one instead!
  • I believe many people are facing the same thing as you. Friends do drift apart. It’s common.
Instead of a huge banquet, why not do a simple ceremony and between your family and his family
Friends can subsequently be invited to your housewarming
This removes unnecessary headaches and stress
Simple is good. Unless his side wants a banquet, then no choice.
Also past 2 years due to covid, many people are doing #2. Saves a lot of money and you can spend more on your house renovation/honeymoon which makes more sense.

GUY HATES WORKING, ASKS “WHY WOULD YOU WASTE 80% OF YOUR LIFE WORKING”

0

I f-ing hate work

Not my job, but work in general. The concept of work is just f-ing wrong. You f-ing live once, why would you waste 80% of your life working?

Why don’t you get the chance to enjoy every day fully in whatever you like? Why work in order to live? Why this f-d up stupid social order?

F- waking up everyday to drag yourself to go and be slaved. If not to an employer be slaved for the f-ing system. F- the system

I just want to enjoy life. Work and career are not “life”

Netizens’ comments

  • I feel you. I just took a week off of work for a staycation because I can’t afford a real vacation (my pto hours are racking up because I save it up for sick days and doctors appointments). It was nice to be able to sleep in and have energy to cook things I wanted to and spend time with my kids. It sucks to do the math and realize how much time I’m missing out on my kids.
  • It never used to bother me because I thought I was working towards financial security, home ownership, and eventual retirement. In the last few years I’ve realized that no matter how hard I work, those things are likely never going to happen, despite the fact that I’m an engineer, traditionally a well-paid job. All I’m working for now is to be able to afford to live another day to work some more, and when the day comes that I’m too old to work I expect the poverty will come on fast.
  • You’re right in the sense that working constantly is not truly living life, yet the reality of it is that we have to work to meet the bare minimum needs of shelter, food, clothing, and utilities.
I used to be mad about it. But I just don’t have the time to, I know what will happen if I continue to focus on anger, especially in a time where the economy will swallow you up into poverty if you don’t make enough money for the basics. I’m scared of this economy, after the pandemic, it’s like a bubble getting ready to bust. And if that bubble burst, so many people will be out of work or homeless and unable to meet even their basic needs. Hell, I have an interview for a 3rd job next week, I am already juggling 2 jobs.
  • Jobs are just kind of there to serve the community and give people something to do so we aren’t getting in trouble tbh
