PRC GANGSTER WHO PULLED WOMAN’S HAIR AND BEATS HER UP GETS 24 YEARS IN JAIL

0

The Tangshan barbecue restaurant beating case that caused a sensation across the world ushered in the verdict today.

The first offender, Chen Jizhi, was sentenced to 24 years in prison and a fine of 320,000 yuan.

The remaining 27 defendants were sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment ranging from 6 months to 11 years.

Background:

In a viral video uploaded on Weibo, a man was seen trying to take advantage of a woman who was dining.

After the man was rejected he resorted to an act of violence to “cover” his rejected pride.

He started attacking the woman and the woman’s friend came in to help only to get hit by the rest of the men as well.

It was not just punches and kicks, the men used chairs and beer bottles to hit the helpless group of women.

The woman was eventually dragged outside of the shop as the group of men took turns hitting the woman at the entrance.

The man pulled the woman by her hair and kicked her head saying “cry, cry some more”.

A woman who is working at the store was seen stepping out of the store and was warned by one of the men to walk away.

One of the men was so dumb that he hit his own girlfriend in the confusion only to hug his girlfriend saying sorry. ( 2min 16 seconds).

The video can be viewed here:

Netizens outraged

The post went viral and many people commented that it is best to ignore them when you encounter this kind of person.

“After reading the news, my mother said, don’t resist, let alone insult them, when you encounter such people, run away when you get the chance, don’t expect others or the police to save you, sisters, don’t be deceived by the ostensible stability in the current society. Even if something happens, the bad guy won’t get the punishment he deserves. It’s not that I’m pessimistic, it’s just that what happened repeatedly taught me how to survive in this society.”

” I have been reminding myself not to go out at night, encountering wicked people is more scary than ghosts, these wicked people have no law at all”

“Men in black clothes and green clothes must be sentenced to death. I’m mad when I watch the video, but if a man goes up and stops it, it will not cause such serious injuries!”

China’s social problems

It is common that no one will help or come in to stop them if such a situation happens as most people do not want to be part of the problem or solution.

Most people in China’s society will ignore, watch or walk away.

MAN PAYS $500 FOR SOMEONE ELSE TO TAKE HIS DRIVING THEORY TEST FOR HIM, JAILED

0

52-year-old Malaysian Goh Ah Hock pleaded guilty to a charge of cheating by personation and was sentenced to 2 months imprisonment.

He had paid someone $500 to take the Singapore Basic Theory Test for him because he feared that he would fail the test.

The man who was to take his place in the BTT, Zhang ZHongliang, received the same sentence back in July for his part in the offence.

What happened?

According to Channel NewsAsia (CNA), Goh had been riding his Malaysia-registered motorcycle while working at a construction company.

He later planned to buy a Singapore motorcycle when he heard that the use of foreign vehicles in Singapore would be banned in July, and wanted to convert his Malaysian bike license to a Singapore one.

But he was afraid that he would fail the BTT test, and asked a co-worker to introduce an agent to him for help him convert his license, paying the agent $500 for the help.

The agent then schemed with another person (Zhang) to take the test for Goh, with Zhang seeing an advertisement offering him $200 to him Goh take the test.

Zhang appeared at the SSDC on 28 June to help Goh take the test, and he was told by the agent to meet him outside the centre after the test to collect his payment.

Zheng displayed Goh’s work permit to the SSDC tester, passing it off as his own, but was asked to take off his face mask for identity verification.

They then noticed that Zhang didn’t look like the person in the work permit and was unable to state his FIN number.

The tester then asked Zhang for other documents to verify his identity, and Zhang then left before returning with Goh; the police were later informed of the incident.

55 Y.O NEWSPAPER VENDOR FOUND DEAD INSIDE VAN @ ALJUNIED, FOUND AFTER 6 HRS

0

A 55-year-old newspaper vendor was found dead inside his van after being inside his parked vehicle for about 6 hours, according to Shin Min Daily News.

The incident happened near a block of flats in Aljunied on 21 September at around 9am.

The deceased had been inside his van for 6 hours, arousing the suspicions of a nearby furniture shop owner, who called the police. Another passer-by went to check on the driver inside the van, and found that he had died inside his vehicle.

The police are currently investigating the case.

SMDN reported that the incident took place at 119 Aljunied Avenue 2, at an outdoor carpark, and that the newspaper vendor had parked his vehicle there, probably to prepare for his goods.

The owner of a nearby grocery shop, Mr Zhang, told SMDN that he went down to take a look when he heard about a driver who had been inside his vehicle for a long period of time with the aircon still running.

He then tapped on the man’s window but got no response, before discovering that the door was unlocked and found that he wasn’t breathing.

A woman who is presumably the deceased’s wife, later arrived at the scene, holding him for 10 minutes as she cried out “why did you have to leave this way?”

The police soon arrived at the scene, and the grocery shop owner’s mother then tried to comfort the wife, who was visibly grieving.

The police also checked the CCTV footage from a nearby clothing shop, showing that the deceased has not left his van throughout.

MAN UNABLE TO GET CASH REFUND AFTER AIRASIA BOOKING “BUG”, DOUBLE BOOKED

0

Hi,

I will like to report on my horrendous experience with AirAsia on my recent flight booking with them.

I posted my story on HWZ and gathered some comments.

A check on facebook comments show i am not the only affected customer.

The following is my personal experience:

This is my personal experience with AirAsia and a warning to those who are planning to book Airasia flights. My case number is 110139184 in case any Airasia personnel is seeing this. I still need the refund and confirmed flight booking.

On 25th Aug, I booked a return flight to Bangkok that will depart on 30 Sep and return on 4th Oct. I booked the first time on the website and tried to perform payment. After going through credit card otp, I received an error message on Airasia. Needless to say, I thought the flight didn’t go through. Hence, I tried booking the second time and it was successful with no error and I got a confirmed flight booking.

I thought everything went well until I realized on 27th Aug that there is a confirmed duplicate charge on my credit card. The first payment I made wasn’t void.

I thought to myself it is no big deal as I can call in to get waiver on the first charge. Oh boy, I was so wrong. A search on Airasia website shows that there is no contact number nor email address available. The only way of contact is through a chatbot.

After filing a request for the refund of the first charge on 27th Aug, i received a reply that they cannot find the duplicate charge in their system. Hence, I proceeded to get DBS bank to provide the statement containing both charges with the authorisation codes for AirAsia’s verification.

AirAsia replied on 6th Sep that the credit request was successful. However, upon checking, I realised that they refunded to their virtual credit account which only allows for booking of their flights, no withdrawal is possible. On top of that, I realised my single confirmed flight booking was cancelled by them.

They told me they have made a mistake and they will proceed to reinstate the booking under a new distinct booking number. They will also make a request to refund the credits on my virtual AirAsia credit account back to my credit card.

Since 6th Sep, I have been checking with their chatbot agent almost every day on the status of the duplicate charge refund and the status of my flight reinstatement. They will give me the same reply everytime that the case has been placed on high priority and I should wait patiently.

It is 21th Sep today. 2 weeks on and I have not received my duplicate charge refund back to my credit card. On top of that, I don’t have any confirmed flight booking.

I am at wit’s end what to do. My flight is next week and I still don’t have a confirmed booking. Any tips on what I should do? A check on AirAsia facebook page shows that I am not the only victim.

TDLR:

What happened – I booked an Airasia flight and my credit card was charged twice for a total of 1k+ due to a bug in their booking system.

What I requested them to do – refund the duplicate charge back to my credit card

What they did –

1. Cancelled my confirmed flight and provided with me 500+ virtual credits which can only be used to book their flights

2. When I requested for reinstatement of the flight, I was given convoluted explanations on why there are delays for over 3 weeks

3. Lousy non-existent support only through chatbot – no phone number contact is available

Result after 3 weeks of chatbot –

1. I spent over 1k+ dollars to attempt to book the flight due to duplicate fees when the original flight only costs 500+

2. I don’t have any flight booking because they cancelled the flight

3. I was given only 500+ virtual credits

Unhappy AirAsia customer

TAIWAN MAN JUMPS OFF HIGHWAY AFTER QUARRELING WITH HIS WIFE

0

A Taiwanese man was driving through the 148-kilometre Tongxiao section of National Highway No. 3 south at night and started arguing with his wife.

He parked the car on the shoulder of the road and jumped off the national highway bridge more than 10 meters high. Fortunately, there was grass and branches to reduce the fall impact.

Search and rescue

According to the Central News Agency, the No. 4 Disaster Rescue and Rescue Brigade of Miaoli County Fire Bureau notified the service centre at 8 pm.

After a man quarrelled with his wife, he fell from the viaduct in the 148-kilometre section of National Highway No. 3.

Due to the absence of light at the scene, the search took longer than expected. After searching back and forth, the man was found in the grass in the open space behind the Tongnan Warehouse of the Farmers’ Association in Tongxiao Town.

The ambulance personnel at the scene pointed out that the man’s right thigh was deformed, he reported chest pain, and multiple abrasions were all over his body. Fortunately, he was clearly conscious and could still talk. After being secured with a long backboard and a collar, he was sent to Tongxiao Guangtian Hospital by ambulance.

The Tongxiao Branch of the Miaoli County Police Bureau said that after the incident, some people reported to the police that there were mourning voices under the viaduct of National Highway No. 3 behind the house. After sending police officers to the scene, the man claimed to be driving through the Tongxiao section of National Road 3 south. , he had an argument with his wife on the way, he parked the car on the shoulder of the road, and then jumped off the bridge himself.

JAPAN BORDERS REOPEN FOR VISA-FREE, INDIVIDUAL TRAVEL ON 11 OCTOBER

0

From 11 October onwards, Japan will allow visa-free entry for individual travellers, as well as removing the daily cap on the number of people entering the country.

Prime minister of Japan Fumo Kishida announced on 22 September that Japan’s goal post-pandemic is to revive their tourism sector.

At the moment, Japan is only allowing package tours and their borders are only partially open, with travellers requiring a visa to enter the country.

Howveer, some 11 October, all that will be removed and visitors will be able to visit the country without a visa or book a travel package to enter.

The latest development also coincides with the Japanese Yen slipping to historic lows against other currencies, including the Singapore Dollar at SGD$1 to 102.7yen.

Separately, Kishida also added that the Japanese government will introduce discounts for domestic travel, in a bid to further boost their domestic tourism sector.

TAXI DRIVER THOUGHT PAX WAS DRUNK, DROVE HIM ALL AROUND WEST SIDE TO “UP” METER FARE

Facebook user Jude Chan shared about how he had flagged down a cab from Boat Quay to head to Choa Chu Kang.

The taxi driver apparently thought he was drunk and tried to take advantage of him, driving around the west side; from Jurong West to Lakeside to Bukit Batok West, in an alleged attempt to drive the taxi fare up.

The passenger then confronted the driver, “if I was really drunk, I would’ve paid more than $50.” To which the taxi driver then said “I admit I am wrong, but you just pay me whatever is shown on the meter”.

The passenger then told him “how about I give you directions to the police station?”

Here is what he captioned his post

uncle thought I was drunk, flag a cab from boat quay to cck. Ended up bringing me for a ride around west.. Jurong West – Lakeside – Bukit batok west …

with third party book least you would have a fix price, flag a cab at your own risk of you drink too much..

SELF-DRIVING CAR SEEN ON THE PIE ON 16 SEPT, POSSIBLE TEST FOR DRIVERLESS TAXIS

0

A driverless car was recently seen driving along the Pan Island Expressway (PIE), with a huge “driverless vehicle” sign plastered at the rear.

The photos of the driverless car cruising along PIE were posted on Facebook on 16 September by Facebook user Alvin Neo.

The car is a Hyundai IONIQ 5, and it is one of a few cars that can drive itself without needing a driver to operate the car.

The car sports a blue and yellow license plate, which is given to vehicles for research and development.

Hyundai said that their IONIQ 5 is used as a vehicle for their tests on “robotaxis” because it is sustainable and safe.

The company had also chosen to test their self-driving cars in Singapore, as well as other innovations for mobility since January this year.

Netizens’ comments

WIFE ASKS HUSBAND TO CHOOSE “YOUR MUM OR ME”, HUSBAND GOING TO DIVORCE HER

0

My wife (31F) asked me (34M) to choose between my mom (55F) and her and I think I am going to divorce her.

A little background: my mum and dad were both orphans, my dad died two weeks before I was born, my mum didn’t really have a support system, so we were just the two of us.

I never lacked anything because my mother worked all her life to give me the life I have today and didn’t even have time for herself to start a new life again. She did all the little jobs possible so that we didn’t miss anything. She deprived herself of food to give me food, I had very good clothes while she had none.

I saw her make sacrifices again and again and always with a smile, frankly I always thought she was an angel dressed in a human body. The only time she yelled at me was when I was 16 when I saw her getting sick and working at the same time.

I wanted to help her by finding a job, but she was angry and told me it was not my job to take care of her and it was up to her to take care of me, she wanted me to get really good grades to get into the best universities it’s the only way I can protect myself when she can’t anymore.

Even at university she didn’t want me to work, I had to be focused on my studies, but she wanted me to volunteer “so that I could be an adult who could do something with his hands”.

I met my wife there while both of us were volunteered. My wife is a good person, but she was never close to her parents or her siblings.

Yet she adored my mother since she met her, there were times when I thought she loved my mother more than she loved me and we laughed about it, deep down, I think she was looking for the bond between mother and daughter that she did not have from her mother.

When I finished my studies, I found a job, we move in together, but she wasn’t confortable that I call my mom everyday (remind you those were 10 – 15 minutes call) but eventually she stop bring It on. Two years later I bought a house for my mother, because we never had a house in our name, we lived from apartment to apartment, so for all the sacrifices she made it was for me the least of it and it was non-negotiable, that’s where the problems started with my wife (then GF).

She wanted me to think about us first, I told her my dream had always been to buy my mom a house since I was little and that’s what I had to do. But she complained about It to my mom. My mom didn’t even knew I bought a house for her as It was suppose to be a surprise for her birthday.

she was unconfortable of receiving the house because of my wife and told me that wasn’t necessary that we could use It for us when we get married. I was furious, I told my mother that the house was for her that she could do with it whatever she wanted but it was time for her to think about herself first.

Our couple survived that, we got married and then we had our own house. Our life was going well until two months ago when my mother fell ill, I wanted her to come and live with us so that I could take care of her, but my wife didn’t want to, I then decided to rent an apartment with my own money right next to our house so that I could be close to her and go there to take care of her.

But even that idea didn’t sit well with my wife. Me and my wife don’t have children yet, we both work, I usually come home at 6 p.m., but since my mother is sick, I go to see her and come home at 8 p.m. On weekends I see her for 1 or 2 hours and the rest of the time I spend It with my wife.

We go on date, I always accompany her in her hobbies even though she never went to mine. Two days ago she told me that she thought about it and she thinks I prioritize my mother too much. She told me that I had to choose between my mother and the life I want to build with her.

The truth is that I never made her feel that way. We both work but I’m the one who cooks, and I pay a person to do the housework.

I make sure I do the dishes she likes, she didn’t even know what I like to eat because I never complain. I run her baths, give her massages, flowers, I write her poems that I hide somewhere in the house for her to find out, we go on a trip one weekend a month, I earn much more money than her, I told her to keep her money for herself and I take care of all the bills even hers, I always make sure to listen to her and consider her opinion, and I think I am easy going because I can change my mind to accommodate hers, but I realize that she tries to completely dominate me and the only subject where I don’t give her a choice is my relationship with my mother .

So there I’m going to have a talk with her and put some very clear bounderies, if she doesn’t want to, well, we’re going to divorce.

Just want It out of my chest
