FUNDRAISER STARTED FOR WIDOW OF FOODPANDA RIDER KILLED IN ACCIDENT

Ray of Hope, a charity in Singapore, has started a fundraiser to raise money for the widow of 24-year-old Foodpanda rider Jason Tan.

Tan was killed on 10 April while out delivering food and trying to fulfil an order incentive; he was trying to avoid a van that had abruptly switched lanes and crashed into another motorcyclist along Gambas Avenue.

The 36-year-old van driver was subsequently arrested by the police for careless driving causing death, and the police are in the midst of investigating the accident.

The deceased was about to become a father as his wife was 3-months pregnant, and was trying to fulfil an order incentive by completing 13 more orders.

At the time of writing, Ray of Hope’s fundraising campaign has since raised about $97,326.66 from 1,704 donors.

The charity said that they are hoping to raise $200,000 to support Tan’s widow, who is three months pregnant.

Members of the charity also spoke to the deceased’s brother, Jeremy Tan, who said that they will be receiving some insurance payout but they are unsure how much the payout will be.

Jason and his wife had gotten married earlier this year on 5 March and had planned to go on a cruise with Tan’s parents in June, which was supposed to be the newlyweds’ honeymoon.

Here is what Ray of Hope said on their fundraising campaign page

On April 10, Mr Jason Tan, 24, was out fulfilling food delivery orders on his motorcycle, when he met with an accident in Gambas Avenue. He subsequently succumbed to his injuries, leaving behind his wife, who is currently three months pregnant with their child. The couple were married on 5 March 2022.

Ray of Hope caseworkers have spoken to Jason’s brother, Jeremy. He has shared the family’s shock, grief and distress. He also told us that while there will be some insurance payout, the family is unsure of how much the amount will be.

Ray of Hope is raising $200,000 to support Jason’s widowed pregnant wife during this difficult period.

MAN REFUSED TO LET EX-WIFE MOVE IN WITH HIM AFTER SHE GOT EVICTED

0

Ex-wife (39F) is going homeless. Our 2 daughters (4F & 6F) are moving in with me (33M) but I refuse to let my ex-wife move into my house.

My ex-wife and I were married for about 7 years and have 2 daughters. The end of our marriage was rocky and she ended up divorcing me about a year and a half ago. It was a hard time for me but after everything was finalized, I understood that the divorce was really needed and I’m truly happy now. I have moved on long ago and progressing in my life like never before. We have a good co-parenting relationship, but nothing more. I live in my own home and my ex lives in an apartment she rents.

My ex recently called me to ask for help. She hasn’t been doing well financially and can’t afford rent anymore. She told me she had nowhere to go. She asked if she could move in together with our daughters for a couple of months until she finds a new job and new place.

She said that she was going to help me out at home by cooking, cleaning, and doing all the housework. She kept going on about how she had nobody and that I’m her last hope. She said that she knows I’m able to take care of all of us financially and that it would be amazing if I helped her out in these tough times.

I told her first off that I’m ready to take in our daughters full-time whenever needed and that she could let me know anytime when I could come to pick up their stuff. My daughters are my number 1 priority and I’ll always take care of them no matter what happens.

I did tell her that I won’t let her move in under any circumstances. I told her that the financial safety and security I provide are a privilege she doesn’t have. I am always ready to take care of our daughters, but what happens to her is non of my concern.

She started crying and she kept telling me that she would be the perfect housewife and help out as much as she could. I told her that I don’t need nor do I want her as my housewife.

I know that I come off as heartless but I don’t see why it would be my obligation to help her. She isn’t my wife anymore so anything that doesn’t concern the kids, I truly don’t care about. The only obligation I have is to take care of our daughters and I’m going to do that without hesitation. I don’t want to have my ex involved in my life any more than she already is and have no plan to change that.

Do you guys think I owe her help in this situation?

I know for a fact if I went through this situation, she wouldn’t even give me the time of day. Let alone help me in any way.

WOMAN STAYED AT HAUNTED HOTEL @ BENCOOLEN, SAW LIGHT SHINING ON BIBLE

A netizen, Esther Ang, who recently stayed at a hotel situated in central Singapore, somewhere in Bencoolen Street, shared her unsavoury experience at the hotel on Google Reviews, which she describes as being haunted.

Besides the creepy incidents that she experiences, she also lamented the sub-par customer service by the hotel staff, as she rated the hotel 1/5.

Here is her Google Review

This hotel is haunted (room 801) and the hotel male wear glasses front desk got attitude issue.

One the first day the front desk wear glasses staff purposely changed our room from room 301 to room 801(haunted room), at first we thought high floor is good.

But when we went into 801 we felt the chills, the room is colder than 301. First creepy incidents in 801 is the bible book is right on bedside table with light shining on it which is weird (normally in hotel the bible will be in the drawer).

Second creepy incident, is tissue stuffed inside the fish eye on the door.

Third, which is the most creepy thing, one night when my bf looked through the door gap from the toilet he mentioned that my face looks greyish.

On top of the 3 creepy incidents, on the 2nd day my allergies also triggered badly. So we went to pray and request for room change, and we ended up staying in 301 (which feels so much safer).

On our checked out date we mentioned to the staff that their staff and facilities got issues, and the staff gave us a customer service kind of and end with a smile to us and said “life is precious”, which means that they know that the room is haunted and have us changed into the room 801.

Staff issue:

1) no privacy, we forgot to sign the attendance book he need to call to our room to ask us to come down to the lobby to sign the attendance book.

Room issue:

2) the kettle all rusty
3)the bed no spring

PLASTIC STOOL USED BY LEWIS HAMILTON GOES ON SALE IN SHOPEE MALAYSIA

0

Sir Lewis Hamilton of the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team was photographed in Kuala Lumpur earlier this week with partner George Russell. Now, a Shopee vendor is selling a plastic stool that the seven-time world champion is said to use.

The item “Kerusi Bekas Tempat Duduk Pelumba Dunia F1 Lewis Hamilton (Rare Item)” is being sold for RM2,999.99 by a preferred Shopee seller who has been on the site for three years and has a 4.9 star rating. The stool also has Shopee’s 100 per cent Authentic Guarantee label, which promises to refund your money if the item is not genuine.

But, honestly, who knows if it was used by Hamilton himself?

GIRL HAD TO CHOOSE A MORE “LUCRATIVE” DEGREE TO HELP FAMILY’S FINANCES

0

I grew up in a pretty big family as well, there are 5 of us, and my family was living at bare minimum too. I got along well with my siblings, there was lots of laughter and funny moments. But we couldn’t afford some of the opportunities that we wanted. I rmb the insensible primary sch me asking my parents to let me go for piano or ballet lessons after seeing my friends performing, but was told that we cannot afford. Even for my sports CCA, I had to pull out cos of the fees incurred, and switched to a club that won’t incur fees.

Moving to sec school, I couldn’t join my friends to eat outside school cos fast food was considered expensive. My friends would go for occasional movie trips, but I did not join any cos it was expensive, plus as the eldest, I have to go home to take care of my younger siblings. I had difficulty integrating into my circle of friends since I can’t hang out.

I started doing part-time after JC and all the way through uni, in order to fund my own expenses in school. I was asked to forgo a major of my choice and opt for a more lucrative one as I am expected to help out with family finances when I start working.  In order to juggle work and studies, I couldn’t actively participate in CCAs. While others form friendships and networks in uni, I was pretty much isolated.

Having started work for a couple of years, my savings have been limited since I took over the allowance and expenses for my youngest sibling in poly, plus some other bills. My boyfriend and I has been dragging our BTO plans in order for me to build my savings.

I love my family and I know my parents tried their best to care of us. I feel very very bad for thinking this way, but I always thought about the missed opportunities and social life due to financial constraints. While I grew up with useful house-chores and babysitting skills, I would hope to have picked up some other skills ie sports, music during my childhood. I mean, who will want to spend their childhood doing chores and babysitting.

I’ll probably get bashed for this. People would say I should be contented and there are people out there who are worse off. Yes definitely, I don’t deny. I’m not saying that the children in the report will feel the same way as me; they might grow up feeling that their childhood was perfect for them. But I feel that there should be a balance between wanting alot of children for a merrier family vs being able to afford a childhood that your children want. After all, childhood is very short-lived and we won’t get to live through it again.

Just a rant.

MASKED GUNMAN OPENED FIRE IN NEW YORK SUBWAY, 10 PEOPLE SHOT

0

A massive manhunt has been launched by police after a gunman threw a smoke bomb and opened fire inside a subway cabin in Brooklyn, New York.

10 people were shot by the gunman, with a total of at least 17 people injured in the attack that took place yesterday during rush hour.

5 of the victims who were shot are currently in the hospital in critical condition, but otherwise stable.

The New York police said that the gunman was wearing a gas mask at the time of the attack and was believed to have been acting alone.

He immediately fled the scene after the attack, as the train pulled into the Sunset Park neighbourhood in Brooklyn.

As reported by CNN, a total of 29 people who suffered various injuries from the attack showed up at the hospitals and were treated and discharged.

CNN and Fox News, among other media outlets, reported that a U-Haul van that the police believed was involved in the shooting, was found parked a few miles from the crime scene.

The gunman was described by the police as being a heavily built man who was wearing a green vest and a hooded sweatshirt, and at the time of writing still remains at large.

Keechant Sewell, the Commissioner of the New York Police Department, said that they are not investigating the attack as a terrorist attack, but have not ruled anything out yet.

The gunman was wearing a gas mask inside the train as it was arriving at the station, before removing a smoke bomb from this bag and activating it.

He then opened fire inside the cabin as it filled with smoke, and several people were shot on the subway, and in the platform.

The immediate area of the station was cordoned off with the authorities shutting down about a dozen blocks.

HEALTH DECLARATION NO LONGER REQUIRED FOR VACCINATED SINGAPORE RESIDENTS USING THE LAND CHECKPOINTS

0

The ICA published in a media release earlier today stating that health declaration is no longer required for vaccinated Singapore residents and long-term pass holders using the land checkpoints.

Given the volume of traffic at the land checkpoints, the Government will waive the health declaration requirement for fully vaccinated Singapore residents and LTP holders arriving via these checkpoints, particularly those who commute across the border daily for employment and studies, beginning on April 15, 2022, if they meet the following conditions:

Here are the following travel conditions

Vaccination Conditions
Vaccinated in Singapore i) Must not have travel history to any country/region in the Restricted Category in the past seven days
ii) Their vaccination status must be reflected in the TraceTogether and/or HealthHub apps
Vaccinated outside of Singapore i) Must not have travel history to any country/region in the Restricted Category in the past seven days
ii) Their vaccination record must be transmitted to MOH’s system upon their first entry:

– If they have a digital overseas vaccination certificate, they must
submit their digital certificate successfully via ICA’s Vaccination  Check Portal (VCP) before arriving in Singapore;
– If they have a non-digital overseas vaccination certificate or their digital certificate was not successfully submitted via VCP, they must present their vaccination certificate to ICA officers at the manual immigration counters upon arrival

All other visitors coming by land checkpoints must still make their health declaration using the SG Arrival Card e-Service three days before their arrival in Singapore. This includes non-fully vaccinated Singapore residents and LTP holders, all short-term visitors and all visitors who have visited any country/region in the Restricted Category in the last seven days.

Back in 2020

Since March 27, 2020, all visitors to Singapore, including Singapore residents (citizens and permanent residents) and holders of long-term passes (LTPs), must submit a health statement before proceeding with immigration clearance. The health declaration must be completed using the SG Arrival Card e-Service, which is accessible via the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority’s (ICA) website or mobile application.

GUY’S WIFE CHEATED ON HIM, NOW DISABLED & HE HAS TO TAKE CARE OF HER

0

I hate my wife she deserves what’s happening to her

I’ll keep this short. She cheated with a coworker. 4 years long affair. She was carrying his child when she met an accident. She lost the baby as well as her legs. She’s in wheelchair now and can’t ever walk again. I’m STUCK with her.

Her coworker had his cake and ate it, I’m the one paying for it. I already drained our entire savings on her operations and getting her to senses.

Now we are without savings, I’m doing 100% of the finances and housework while she stares at the window thinking about the lovable memories with her despicable coworker.

I can’t leave because we have little kids and I’ll be painted the bad guy because that’s what this society does. No matter how much we accomplish, it’s less or unappreciated.

At this point, I hope she dies! I can’t take it any longer.

Do you think divorce is that easy? I spent all of our savings to get her home from hospital and then she drops the big news of her infidelity.

Now I’m the only money maker in the family. I have to do the work, do the kids and take care of house all by myself.

Despite all that, I asked her to visit therapy. I grew up without a home. I know the importance of family. Divorce isn’t easy. I’ll have to split up everything (house, car, bank, even our kids) This is not easy!

Leaving someone you spent 20 years of your life with when they are at this condition is not easy! I see her weeping, I see her laughing maniacally and it breaks my heart!

I can’t attend therapy or file for divorce because this will further break her down and I don’t want that. Sometimes you have to sacrifice yourself and your needs! I hate her so much that I freaking love her!
