CHILDCARE TEACHER FED UP WITH PARENTS SENDING COVID+ KIDS TO SCHOOL

0

Childcare teacher here. Can I just confess that the most incredibly mind-blowing screwed-up part about my job is the parents?

In this pandemic you would think parents will take extra precautions but no. I had a case where child’s antigen kit is still faintly showing positive and parents insisted on sending child to school.

Besides that case, we also have parents refusing to declare their child’s swab results. Selfish parents breeding selfish children are the reasons why the turnover rates are so high in this industry.

Please please just keep your child at home for the love of God. Your child may recover fast but not every child has your child’s immunity.

Netizens’ comments

  • Dear parents. Why risk sending ur child to school and have a risk of infecting others? Dont be a selfish parent
  • Not enough people tell parents that we don’t really care about them or their child.
  • Yes correct. There are a lot of selfish parents.

MHA – OFFENCE FOR S’POREANS TO FIGHT IN UKRAINE AGAINST RUSSIA

The Ministry of Home Affairs said in a statement yesterday (11 March) that is is an offence for any person, whilst in Singapore, to join or attempt to join the Foreign Armed Forces in Ukraine.

Here is the MHA’s statement

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) is aware that the Embassy of Ukraine has received calls from persons expressing an interest to join the International Legion for the Territorial Defense of Ukraine.

2.   Singapore has taken a clear stance on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. We strongly condemn the invasion. We have called upon Russia to cease hostilities, and respect the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine.

3.   We would like to highlight that it is an offence for any person, whilst in Singapore, to wage, attempt to wage, or abet the waging of war, against the government of any power with which Singapore is not at war. For citizens of Singapore, in particular, even if they commit these acts whilst outside Singapore, they will be legally deemed to have committed them as if in Singapore, and hence liable for an offence.

4.   We advise members of the public who wish to help Ukrainians to do so via legal channels. For instance, they may donate to legitimate organisations, such as the Singapore Red Cross, that are raising funds for humanitarian aid to support affected communities in Ukraine.

GIRL ASK IF SHE IS UNFILIAL FOR NOT TAKING CARE OF NEGLECTFUL PARENTS

0

Am I a bad child for not taking care of my parents?

Since young, I’ve never had any affection for my parents. I find it weird that when my dad was working, he can spend his salary on gambling and other extra activities. As a result, I never had a nice childhood. Went to school, they told me I need to get specs as I was short sighted, my parents insist that I was fine. Even the dentist told me to get braces for my crooked teeth, they still insist it was fine. Even I was pulled out from swimming classes because he had to sign the waiver of responsibility from the consent form.

My whole childhood is practically a nightmare. I can play with toys, only because my relatives gave them to me. My parents don’t buy for me anything because my aunties are nice enough to buy for me. I want to read books, but my parents told me they can’t afford it. But they can enjoy their lives. Even when I have fantastic results for PSLE, they told me to go to a good secondary as my sister, going to the likes of RI can be expensive. Even when I wanna go to poly after that, they insist on me to go to JC because uniform is cheaper. Don’t get me started on my own clothes, I practically grew up on just a rotation of few clothings. And my underwear will only be replaced once it’s badly worn and tattered. So, every year, I get a few bursaries, either from the Union, govt and such. Guess what? My father will take them all, and insist that he’s paid for my upbringing. Don’t get me started on upbringing. I eat shit food since young. Now that I’m older, I practically grew up on the cheapest food available. I eat white bread on its own without any spread. My mum cook, but never beef or fish, just scraps of chicken, either made into a soup or fried to be eaten with sweet soy sauce. It totally make sense now why I totally enjoy eating normal food. Eating laksa or mee siam is soooo enjoyable for me now even though it may seems nothing to you guys.

As for discipline, I realised I probably had ADHD or something. I had trouble listening to instruction and I was super hyper active. On hindsight, it was probably because I was mostly cooped up at home. As a kid, I usually go out with my relatives more than my family. My relatives didn’t have any trouble disciplining me though. But at home, I was more of a punching bag. I knew when was their salary date. Because closer to the date, my dad will always be angry and fight with my mom, and somehow, I will trigger either of them, either my dad will whack me with things, or my mum will slap me to appease him. Thinking back, I felt like I was an offering for either of them to ease their anger. If there’s free balloon outside, I will only take the string ones cos it will hurt less later. That hard metal pole to hang clothes, yeah.. It bent, I was stronger than that soft metal. I was surprised that I made it till an adult without any serious injury. Even called the police once, they did nothing to help me.

After JC, my dad told me to work. nahh.. I went back to study. Somehow in anger or something, he sold the house to take most of his money. What a pathetic loser. I was actually homeless, even the school didn’t believe me that I was homeless. Since then, I got married and was out of his life. Eventually, my mother divorced and remarried. I hate her less than my dad but I still blame her for being an enabler to his actions. How dare she let those 20 years of mine be in suffering? Probably as a result of that, my next 20 years are kinda stunted. While others are making families and moving up in their career, I was just happy being free, enjoying the simple things in life. Sure, I got a decent job now, but I wasn’t doing as well as my peers. Most of them are high flyers, I sometimes compare to them and wonder if the difference between us are probably supporting parents.

For my dad, I didn’t keep track of him if he’s alive or not. He could be dead for all I care. That’s how deep my anger is still now. People may say, it’s okay, let go and forgive and forget. He’s your parent afterall. I prayed to God for help as a kid. Heck, I even prayed to Satan for help. Both didn’t even help me at all. That’s probably why I’m not so religious. Most of my friends told me, I shouldn’t do that, and I should take care of them now that they are old. For me, if given a choice, I rather not to be born at all. Probably the same reason why I do not want to have kids. Am I wrong not to take care of them? To those who might be in similar situation as me, how do you cope?

WOMAN CAN’T STAND HER 40 Y.O HUSBAND FOR BEING A “MUMMY’S BOY”

0

My hubby is almost 40 years old yet he speaks with his mother on the phone everyday. It’s either his mum calls him or he calls his mum.

I can’t stand such a mummy’s boy & honestly it’s a dealbreaker for me if I’d known about his habit when we were dating.

I visit my in-laws once to two times a week. It’s not like they can’t update each other then. Rmb it’s not emergency stuff that they’re updating each other everyday. She also doesn’t have major health issues.

She is very reliant on him on everything. She & her husband are moving to an estate close to us soon & I’m worried my hubby will run every small errand his parents esp. his mother asks of him simply because he chats with her everyday.

His mother asks him to do errands even when they live far apart, not to mention when they move near to us.

Guys, do you call your mum every day to update her about your day. I’m a girl and I don’t even do that! It’s creepy.

I’ve sounded this out to him by saying, ‘How come your mum calls you everyday?’ But he thinks nothing of it & doesn’t get the hint that I’m disgusted by it.

How can I make it clearer to him that he & his mum’s call routine is creepy? He may just hide, call & whisper in the toilet if I make it any more obvious.

Sorry, their kind of co-dependency is simply not healthy.

Netizens’ comments

  • My mum text and call me almost every single day. Your post does feel offensive to me.Im glad I have a wonderful husband who even talk to her n ask her how she’s doing. And i feel sorry to you, but esp. to ur husband n in law family.
  • I’m praying very hard when my sons grow up, they won’t marry a woman like you. Say in a bad way, they only have one MUMMY, but your position as wife…..they can change any time. And not as if she’s hindering your life. She’s talking to him, not you. He’s a very filial son, and I respect him. On the other hand, you, as a wife and daughter-in-law….not so much.
  • Are you for real? Sorry if you didn’t get much love and affection from your fam, but please, don’t deprive him of getting lots from his fam. There is a difference between a “mommy’s boy” and a close knit fam.

GIRL REALIZES THAT HER SOCIAL CIRCLE SHRINKS AS SHE GETS OLDER

0

As I grow older, I’ve noticed how people can turn their backs suddenly and simply leave without any explanation or actual conflict.

I haven’t even hit the big 2 yet and my social circle is getting smaller… I no longer know who’s true and who’s not. Everyone seems temporary. But when I open my Instagram, everyone else’s social circle is still booming.

And before anyone advises me to join activities and make friends, trust me, I’ve been doing that. But it’s undeniably hard to meet decent human beings.

Is this normal. how does one deal with the loss of relationships they truly care about?

Netizens’ comments

  • Don’t believe what you see on Instagram. What you see might not be what it actually is
  • The simple answer is that this is normal and relationships will form and dissolve over time.

Even your best friends will come and go due to various reasons (no time to spend with you or have different priorities in life).

It hurts but you need to get used to it. Over time you will learn who are the people that stay with you when you get into problems and ask for help.

Also cherish the relationship while they last and let go of the relationship when it’s appropriate to end.

GUY KICKED OUT OF CLASS, TOLD THE TEACHER NOT TO ASSUME HE HAS “BRAIN DAMAGE”

0

I hate my history teacher.

So about 3 days ago I stayed up late last night and I came to school extremely tired. In period 2 (history) I was half asleep and I didn’t hear the teacher say where the work was.

So 5 minutes goes by and I ask her where the work was and she said “it’s on OneNote” but she assumed that because I asked the question I wasn’t listening to her, which was true. When I asked her where the worksheet was, she just walked away.

So 3 minutes later I get the work up and I already knew what to do but she explained it again really slowly.

But the icing on the cake is her saying I could do a more easier version of the work she assigned. So I just said I didn’t do the work and she kept me in as usual. And she kept talking in the slow voice.

So I told her face that she obviously thought I was incompetent and she “didn’t want to have the conversation anymore” and she “had the expectations students did their work”.

So I said that “teachers shouldn’t unreasonably assume students had brain damage”.

Then she kicked me out of class.

PRC PROSTITUTE LIES TO POLICE, ACCUSE LANDLORD OF RAPE

0

A PRC woman who resided in Singapore as a prostitute made a false police report claiming that she had been raped by her landlord.

28-year-old Guo Lili was jailed 5 months and 4 weeks yesterday (March 10) for providing false information to a Police officer and providing “service” through remote communication and overstayed in Singapore.

What happen?

The landlord has been harassing the PRC prostitute to give him “some service” but he was denied, on one occasion the landlord laid naked on a bed beside her but there was no physical contact.

Guo was angry at the landlord for his continuous actions to plead for “service” and decided to make a false police report stating that she was raped.

Guo arrived in Singapore on 14 April 2019 and worked as a sex worker, but she was arrested just after 3 months and she was told to leave Singapore by 25 December 2020. She presented an air ticket to ICA stating that she will leave but cancelled her flight and continued staying in Singapore.

Balestier

In January 2021, Guo moved into a flat at Crescent Building along Balestier road and her retail is $160 per day. The rental allowed her to perform “services”.

Just days after moving in, Guo went to sleep without her clothes and the landlord undressed himself and laid beside her. When Guo woke up she was unhappy and accused the landlord of raping her.

Little that she knows, she just shot herself in the foot.

She was eventually questioned by the Police and only confess to her lies after 3 hours.

She eventually dragged on the case by “changing lawyers” which adjourned the case. It dragged on for another 10 months

Geylang

In November 2021, police raided Min Wah Hotel at Geylang and Guo was on scene, investigations revealed that she has been staying at the hotel for 20 days.

She was also advertising her services from two websites charging $120/hour for her services.

GUY WITH I.T DEGREE BUT WORKING IN MARKETING, FEELING LOST IN LIFE

0

A normal Singaporean here…

Study -> Army -> Uni -> BTO -> Married that kind of normal…

So far so good… But working for more than 10 years… I suddenly look at my CV and I feel its very empty…

I grad with IT degree but first job I did was related to rescue service… No linknto degree…

Second job admin… Then help desk… Then back to admin… And now marketing…

After all these… I feel like i am neither here or there… So recently someone asked me… What do you want to do? Go back to IT? Admin? Or expand in marketing… Which i have no degree or any knowledge to but got there due to a few successful projects I did during my help desk time…

Im not too sure what I want as I love all those!

Im just worried about making a wrong move forward… Talking to bosses wont help as they confirm ask me to stay…

Any advice out there?

Netizens’ comments

  • Is totally normal to do jobs that have no link to your degree, one of my ex lecturer told me only 3 out of his 40 ish cohort do something related to their studies.

It seems like you like jobs with boarder scopes than specialisation responsibilities, then you can search for jobs for such roles that is more suited for a generalist, on top of my head are product managers, business analyst, consultant etc.

Take pride of your past experience, you can easily pivot and make use of them. Like you can justify for example, because I have an IT and marketing background, I can easily code switch, communicate with different stakeholders and see the bigger picture.

  • Maybe take a break from work and do something outside that you enjoy like a hobby or games whatever.

Basically take some time for yourself and then start the grind again.

On February 8, ICA officers at Tanjong Pagar Scanning Station, Ports Command stopped an attempt to smuggle three katana swords and accessories into Singapore through an inbound container.
