FAMOUS HAWKER AT 254 JURONG EAST ST 24 GETS CAR PARK EXIT EXPANDED

Minister for Sustainability and the Environment and also Member of Parliament for Yuhua SMC, Grace Fu, recently wrote a post and uploaded it onto her Facebook page with regards to the expansion of the car park exit at a car park to a famous hawker centre in her constituency.

The said famous hawker centre, located at Block 254 Jurong East St 24, had only one exit lane for a long time and this had caused inconvenience due to the congestion of vehicles at the area during peak hours and weekends.

Ms Fu shared that the community leaders had worked with the Housing and Development Board (HDB) to expand the exit with an additional egress lane.

The project took longer than the expected time frame due to underground services needed to be diverted.

In her post, she also shared that she is glad that the egress lane has been completed together with the electronic parking system (EPS) since 18 Jan 2022.

“Our community leaders worked with HDB on the long-standing issue of congestion at the entrance of car park to our popular hawker centre (254) and shops at Jurong East St 24 to expand the exit, with an additional egress lane. As underground services have to be diverted, the project took longer than the norm.

Glad that the egress lane has been completed with the Electronic Parking System implemented since 18 Jan 2022. Hopefully this will greatly ease the congestion, especially at peak hours and weekends.”

An appeal was put up by a Habib Khan a few days back on his social media platform as he had dropped his wallet somewhere along Mustafa Centre to Little India on Valentine’s Day around 2:30pm.

In the appeal, he stated that the Renoma wallet which he lost had important documents inside and about $1,000 in cash.

He then left his contact number on his social media post in the hope that whoever that saw his appeal and managed to find his wallet will contact him and return it back to him.

Power of social media found his wallet back

On 16 February, the man again posted on his social media platform.

This time, he shared some good news saying that his wallet has been found by somebody who had contacted him to return his wallet back.

Pictures which he included in his post showed that the two men also enjoyed a meal together at KFC after the wallet was returned.

The man also thanked all his Facebook friends for helping to share the post as he did not expect the post to be shared so many times and he is humbled by all the help received.

I got all the money in the wallet, Permit Card, Bank Card and all kinds of cards.

Everyone wants to meet someone rich and the obsession and greed pull potential victims in real quick as they are acting based on emotion and not on logic.

Here is a story shared by a scam victim

Met this scammer via tinder who scammed me of via fake cryptocurrency investment (oriental wealth). I invested 100sgd initially and could withdraw with a profit. then he asked to invest 6k, which i did. then he asked me to invest another 30k which i sensed something amiss and i could not withdraw the 6k. after so many weeks, I have not heard back from the police on whether this guy is arrested or if they manage to get back the money i lost.

this is a very common scam called pig butchering scam.

1) claims to be rich/business owner from China, stays in condo in orchard. His tinder location shows newton and less than 1km away from me (i stay near central). these scammers go to such areas just so that their tinder location can reflect location in central and make their “rich” story more believable.

10 VAPE SELLERS CONVICTED & FINED $100,000 IN A SPAN OF 3 MONTHS

According to the Health Science Authority(HSA), at least 10 e-vaporisers sellers were convicted in Court in the period from November 2021 to January 2022.

Total Fined over $100,000

The sellers that were convicted were between the ages of 19 and 36. The sellers purchased the vape from overseas and sold them illegally on various local social media and e-commerce platforms.

The total amount of illegal vape and components seized are worth over $30,000.

Telegram and other social media

Andy Yap Wen Rong, 22 years, advertised and sell e-vaporisers and related components on Telegram and Carousell. He smuggled the items from Malaysia.He was sentenced to a total fine of $35,000 on 25 November 2021.

Damien Tng Jia Kang, 26 years caught smuggling at Woodlands Checkpoint and got caught, fined $13,500.

Foreign Student, 23-year-old Chen Xin caught selling contraband cigarettes and vale on Whatsapp and Wechat. Fined $22,500 for vape and $9,500 for duty-unpaid cigarettes.

WOMAN LOCKED HERSELF INSIDE HDB UNIT, RESCUED BY DART OFFICERS

A 61-year-old woman reportedly locked herself inside a HDB unit and was rescued by DART officers before being apprehended.

The incident happened at Block 350 Anchorvale Road yesterday (17 February) afternoon, at about 4.25pm.

The Singapore Police and Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) officers and vehicles were seen at the scene.

DART rescuers were seen rappelling down the HDB block, with a safety life air pack being deployed at the foot of the block.

The Police said that they received a call for assistance at 4.25pm, and when officers arrived, the 61-year-old woman was found to have locked herself inside a residential property at the said location.

They then assessed that the woman might pose a danger to herself and officers from the Crisis Negotiation Unit, Special Operations Command and SCDF were activated.

The SCDF also confirmed that they received a call for help at 4.30pm, and they deployed nets at the scene, with rescuers from the DART team rappelling down from the unit above to rescue the woman.

The police then gained entry into the unit at about 6.08pm and the woman was then arrested under the Mental Health Act.

No injuries were reported from the incident.

The number of active scams that are ongoing has reached an unprecedented level, every day there are complaints of scams on the internet.

A netizen was scared into sharing his personal details to a scammer after he was told that he is involved in a court case.

Here is what the netizen said:

Received a call saying “you have a court case, please press 9”, After pressing 9, a person picked up says I am going to court.

Saying I am involved in a “Loke Choy Fong” court case. Then asked for name and NRIC number, I was nervous and I shared it only to realise later that it was a scam. 

An interview with a IT security consultant:

“I guess many of us are naive and many out there normally don’t even read the news. Staying updated is the best way to avoid scams. If you don’t recognize a number then don’t pick it up, if you pick up and the person says something shocking or starts trying to offer you stuff you can always hang up the phone.”

“Personally, my email is flooded and I don’t really check my mail unless I am expecting a mail, there are many scam emails out there but always look at the senders address and beware of anylinks in the email. If you are unsure, Google Search the companies actual website so you will know if the link is legit or not, but sometimes its quite obvious. Example: posb.net instead of posb.com.sg”

FATHER CHARGED WITH MURDERING 2ND SON IN UPPER BUKIT TIMAH DEATHS

The 48-year-old father of the two boys who were found dead at a canal near a playground at Upper Bukit Timah, Xavier Yap Jung Houn, was handed a second capital charge earlier today (18 February).

He is being accused of murdering his second son, Yap Kai Shern Aston, by causing his death on 21 January at the canal at a playground at Greenridge Crescent, between 4.23pm and 6.18pm.

He was previously charged with the murder of his first son, Yap E Chern Ethan, on 24 January.

Yap appeared in court via a video feed from where he is being held in remand, and he was wearing a white shirt and appeared thinner with his head shaved.

His IMH report was done and a pre-trial conference at the High Court was set in April – his medical and Health Sciences Authority reports are still pending though.

The public prosecutor told the judge that the medical report was related to an injury that was sustained by Yap.

Yap is being represented by lawyer Anil Singh Sandhu, and upon conviction for murder, he faces the death penalty where he will be executed by hanging.

For anyone that has worked on a ship would know that the number one danger in the sea is fire and not tidal waves or sinking.

On Wednesday, a ship carrying vehicles from Germany to the United States caught fire in the Atlantic Ocean, forcing the ship’s 22 crew members to abandon the ship and flee for their lives.

The Felicity Ace, a nearly 200 meter-long ship capable of transporting 4,000 automobiles, was carrying a number of premium vehicles including at least 1,100 Porsches, Volkswagens and other vehicles.

Rescue Mission

The Portuguese navy rescued all 22 crew members from the ship, which was due to arrive in Davisville, Rhode Island, on February 23. According to The Associated Press, the crew was flown to Faial island in the Azores via helicopter. There were no injuries among the crew members.

The fire is believed to be still burning for over 24 hours.

A Porsche spokesman told NBC that:

“Our immediate thoughts are of relief that the 22 crew of the merchant ship “Felicity Ace” are safe and well. A number of our cars are among the cargo. We are in contact with the shipping company and the details of the cars on board are now known. While it remains too early to confirm what occurred and next steps, we are – along with our colleagues at Porsche AG – supporting our customers and our dealers as best we can to find solutions. Anyone concerned by this incident and the implications on the car they’ve ordered should contact their Porsche dealer,” the company said in its statement.”

A TikTok user, @pollutedhq, who apparently has plenty of free time on his hands, posted a video online where he counted how many strands of noodles there are inside a packet of Indomie.

He said that he has been “wondering for the longest time how many strands of instant noodles there are in a packet of Indomie”.

And so he decided to go ahead and count it.

The guy then cooked the Indomie and took one stand of the noodles for reference, measuring it at 50cm for that one strand.

He then laid out all the strands of noodles onto a table and counted them, numbering about 73 strands of noodles, with each strand being about 50cm.

He then concluded his video by revealing his revolutionary findings and saying “no wonder i always have to eat two packets.”
