UNLICENSED KTVS RAIDED, 29 PEOPLE TO BE CHARGED FOR BREACHING COVID MEASURES

The police said in a statement yesterday (13 October) that they conducted operations (in February and July) against 2 unlicensed KTVs, of which 29 people were rounded up in the operations.

6 people will be charged with operating an unlicensed KTV as well as breaching Covid-19 restrictions.

The remaining 23 will be charged with Covid-19 violations.

A 39-year-old man was found in the 25 February operation to be operating the unlicensed KTV with 2 other employees, 26-years-old and 33-years-old.

The trio will be charged with operating a KTV that is unlicensed and providing alcohol.

10 of their patrons will be charged for Covid-19 measures violations.

Another KTV that was unlicensed was discovered to be allegedly serving alcohol to customers on 18 July, with 3 men due to be charged as well with operating an unlicensed KTV and providing alcohol.

They are aged between 31 and 39.

13 of the patrons were allegedly socialising and intermingling while drinking and will be charged with Covid-19 violations as well.

MAID ALLEGEDLY FILMED OLD MAN BATHING & SPREAD ONLINE, CHARGED

A 33-year-old Indonesian maid in Singapore was charged earlier today for allegedly being involved in a case of voyeurism and spreading the videos of an elderly man that she was showering.

The elderly man was also her employer.

She was charged with 7 counts of filming the victim and 6 counts of distributing them.

The parties cannot be identified due to a court order to protect the victim’s identity.

What happened?

The maid is being accused of filming the old man while showering him on multiple occasions from January last year to this year.

She allegedly shared the videos with others through Whatsapp at least 4 times, without the consent of the victim.

She also allegedly uploaded the video onto TikTok without his permission.

The case has been adjourned to 27 October.

FOOD STALL AT GEYLANG SUSPENDED BY SFA, COCKROACH & UNCLEAN FOOD

Under the Points Demerit System, the Singapore Food Agency (SFA)  suspended the license of B&S Food Corner, a food stall located at 304 Geylang Road, Singapore 389346. The ban will last two weeks, from October 12th to October 25th, 2021.

Over the course of a year, the licensee collected 16 demerit points and was fined a total of $1200 for the following offences:

APPLE HANDHELD CONSOLE COMING TO ‘FIGHT’ WITH NINTENDO SWITCH

Every year millions of Apple fans queue and pre-order to get their hands on the latest Apple iPhone.

Now, a new rumor suggests that Apple may be working on a new portable console. The new system will compete in the same market as the Nintendo Switch, which will soon have more options than the Steam Deck.

19 PEOPLE ARRESTED FOR PONZI SCHEME, PAYING ‘MEMBERSHIP FEES’ SCAM

The Police have arrested 19 people under the suspicion of being involved in Ponzi related scams. The Police said that 16 males and 3 females between the ages of 18 and 35 were arrested during the operation.

Job Scams

The Police were alerted by several victims after they received unknown messages from various social media claiming high-paying part-time employment.

Scammers would offer victims bogus online jobs that needed them to do simple activities like following social media accounts and social media postings in order to increase their exposure.

This post can include Instagram accounts, product advertisements and many more.

Victims might get unsolicited text messages, WhatsApp messages, or internet advertising promising high-paying part-time affiliate marketing employment in these situations. The con artists would say that by like social media postings and videos, victims would be paid a commission.

How the victims got cheated

After contacting those who are interested in the ‘job’, they would be instructed to signup for various memberships of websites and mobile apps to perform some task which promises great rewards.

There syndicate offers a variety of membership levels, $10 for a low commission membership and few thousand for high commission membership.

Basically, it means: “You pay more for your membership you will earn more”

MOM INVESTIGATING COVID BREACHES CLAIMS AT DORM, RIOT POLICE ACTIVATED

The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) is investigating claims about alleged breaches of Covid-19 measures at a dormitory located at Jurong.

They are investigating allegations of a lack of access to medical support as well as the alleged poor quality of food that is being catered.

Officers from the FAST team (Forward Assurance and Support Team) were deployed on 13 October for the investigations.

Mobile clinical teams were also deployed to provide care for the needs of the workers if needed.

MOM also revealed that the police were also deployed to respond to a call for assistance at the dormitory.

According to CNA, the allegations were published in an online Weixin article on Tuesday.

MOM said that there were indeed delays in conveying the affected workers who were infected with Covid-19 to a care facility.

Videos also emerged online and circulating through Whatsapp, showing riot police and Special Operations Command vehicles being activated to the site at Westlte Jalan Tukang dormitory.

According to the Straits Times, there were reports of several men also gathering outside the dormitory.

Several armoured police vehicles were seen parked outside the dorms along the road, with the officers donning full protective gear.

A video emerged online showing a couple of YPs fighting at a multistorey carpark.

One of them was also seen with his face mask pulled down in a public place.
