Goppinath Rajah, 29-years-old, pleaded guilty to 5 charges including voluntarily causing hurt, member of an unlawful society, using criminal force on a public servant to deter him from his duty and using threatening words on a public servant.
He was sentenced to 5 months imprisonment on 11 October.
7 other similar charges were considered during his sentencing.
What happened?
Rajah had an argument with his girlfriend on the phone on 4 August, she had rejected his offer to live together with her.
Rajah then got infuriated and went to her workplace at a secondary school and attacked her.
He reportedly pushed her onto the ground, as well as kicking and punching her in the stomach despite knowing she was pregnant.
He also dragged her on the ground by pulling her hair.
The commotion was heard by the school staff who then informed the police.
The victim sought medical attention at NUH where she was found with a head injury and multiple bruises.
Doctors also determined that her fetus was unharmed and well.
Police officers later went to detain Rajah at a block of flats near the school where the incident happened, and he got aggressive and shouted vulgarities at them.
In a separate incident in December 2019, Rajah flashed gang signs and was shouting gang slogans at a funeral.
He was let off with a warning by the police after denying his actions but as he was walking away, he then flashed another gang sign and shouted a gang slogan at the police.
He was subsequently detained immediately.
On the same dat, he also spat saliva at an Aetos officer and used vulgarities on him while he was being escorted at the Police Cantonment Complex.
The police said earlier today (12 October) that 8 nightlife and F&B establishments have had their licenses revoked after being found to have breached Safe Management Measures (SMMs) repeatedly.
They were also ordered to close for a period of between 10 to 30 days.
The establishments may also be liable for prosecution as well as notices of composition.
They had reportedly provided hostess services, dice and card games and failure of ensuring group sizes do not exceed the allowed limit.
The affected outlets include Club One Min at Concorde Hotel, HooHa Cafe at Viva Vista Shopping Mall and Club Mao at the Oriental Plaza.

The SCDF said that a dead body of a man was found floating in the waters of Rochor River near the ICA building.
The incident happened on 10 October, with the SCDF received a call for water rescue assistance at around 7.10am.
SCDF personnel then retrieved the dead body from the water and the person was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene.
According to Lianhe Wanbao, the deceased was a man in his 60s who was purportedly a cardboard collector who was often seen around the vicinity collecting cardboard.
He was suspected to have drowned to his death.
At the time of writing, police investigations are ongoing.

Seven males and one woman, ages 42 to 73, are being investigated by the police for their alleged involvement in illegal horse betting and alleged non-compliance with safe distancing measures.
Operation against gamblers
Woodlands Police Division officers conducted enforcement activities at Woodlands Drive 44 and Yishun Ring Road on October 6, 2021.
Five men and a woman, ages 42 to 70, are being investigated for allegedly betting with bookies, while a 73-year-old man is being investigated for his potential participation as a bookmaker. A 59-year-old man is also being investigated for a possible violation of the Remote Gambling Act.
More than $1,200 in cash, two cellphones, and gambling memorabilia were seized.
Penalties
Anyone found guilty of unlawful remote gambling can be fined up to SGD$5,000 and/or jailed for a maximum of 6 months
For non-compliance with safe management measures under the COVID-19 offenders may be jailed for up to six months, fined up to S$10,000, or both.
If they are caught by the Police for not wearing a mask or not wearing a mask properly they can be charged under the Covid-19 (Temporary Measures) (Control Order) Regulations 2020.
Penalties include a fine of up to SGD$10,000 and jailed for up to six months.
On October 12, 2021, a 52-year-old man will face charges of alleged money laundering in connection with his possession of criminal proceeds related to a business email compromise scam.
In March 2019, the Singapore Police received a report from a firm that had been the victim of a corporate email compromise fraud. The firm had received a phishing email ordering it to wire $116,676.90 to a bank account held by the man’s company, Nivi Ventures Pte Ltd.
The sum of $116,676.90 was discovered to be the results of illegal activity, according to investigations. The guy will face a charge of holding advantages from illegal behavior under Section 47(3) of the Corruption, Drug Trafficking, and Other Serious Offenses (Confiscation of Benefits) Act (“CDSA”) on October 12, 2021.
Under the CDSA, anybody convicted of having gains from criminal behavior risks up to ten years in jail, a fine of up to $500,000, or both.
The police have recently published appeals for two separate men that both passed away with their loved ones around.
