AGENT DEMANDS 25% INCREASE IN RENTAL, BUT THE AGENT IS THE LANDLORD

0

With rental rates increasing over 10% for HDB in 2021, it is expected that landlords might increase the rental rates.

A netizen shared a story on how his landlord demands a 25% increase in their rental rates.

Here is the story:

Hi, we have been renting a place for almost 2 years and would like to renew the lease. When we contact the agent for a renewal with our intention, he said the rent should increase by a minimum of 25%.

We want to negotiate with the landlord for a 20% increase but the agent refuse to budge and said he won’t let the landlord know about our offer at all unless we agree to 25%. Can the agent do this(not inform the landlord about our intention to renew)?? I don’t have contact details of the landlord sadly, and have been liaising with the landlord’s agent directly. So far he has been rude and hard to deal with… but we have no choice. Any advice? Thanks.

Rental facts:

According to 99.co, “There are, no regulations forbidding property agents to act as a landlord’s agent to some clients and as a tenant’s agent to other clients, so long as those clients are seeking deals for separate properties.”

In another word, the agent can be the landlord(secretly) as the rental contract is with the landlord and it does not matter if the landlord is working as an agent as well. Unless the agency has strict rules on this.

Therefore the answer is: “You will need to question the agency to find out, or you will never know”

Netizens pitch in:

  • Are you sure the “agent” isn’t the landlord?
  • Just saying, 25% is a great deal in this market. But yeah what the agent is doing is wrong. Tbh he can easily find any other tenant willing to pay 30-40% more now if he lists.
  • Just move to another place. There’s no hard law saying he cannot do that. It’s just about ethics. You can try feedback to CEA, see if they can help you or not. Good luck

LARGE CROWDS SPOTTED AT MUSTAFA, BUYING GOLD ON PUBLIC HOLIDAY

Photos of a large group of people buying gold at Mustafa is currently circulating on social media. There seems to be little to zero crowd control in the mall.

The crowds were seen closed together with no social distancing as if there is a fire sale and as if the gold will be sold out shortly.

The question is, where are the red shirt ambassadors. (Probably on Chinese New Year Holiday)

Here are what netizens think:

  • There are too many places that are not possible to have safe distancing.
  • No difference from a bus or MRT. So why complain? These workers deserve their needed break and let them enjoy their day off.
  • Social distancing is all nonsense…. Make people queue 1 meter apart be it queuing for bus or wherever… Go inside all cluster together…
  • You looking Them . Because they are not local. When you going Nutc fair price How q there bro
  • Now gold still high right?, mustafa very cheap ah?
  • Now still CNY, manpower stretched really thin in terms of manpower.
  • And where are the red-shirt Social Distance Ambassadors when there is a need to separate the crowds? Most of them only know how to stand far away to take pictures on crowds nia while earning good pay to jalan jalan at air-conditioned shopping malls.

Potential Penalties:

First-time offenders who breach safe distancing measures are fined $300.

For non-compliance with safe management measures under the COVID-19 offenders may be jailed for up to six months, fined up to S$10,000, or both.

If they are caught by the Police for not wearing a mask or not wearing a mask properly they can be charged under the Covid-19 (Temporary Measures) (Control Order) Regulations 2020.

Penalties include a fine of up to SGD$10,000 and jailed for up to six months

CROWDS SPOTTED AT EAST COAST PARK IN GROUPS OVER 5 PAX

The Chinese New Year is a 2 days public holiday in Singapore. For those who are not celebrating it is often used to enjoy themselves 2 days of break.

While many of us stay at home to avoid COVID-19, many can’t wait to go and gather in large groups.

A Tik Tok user shared his experience at East Coast Park stating that there are crowds and even made fun of himself.

He stated that he senses a lot of people breaking Covid rules, multiple groups were seen in the video exceeding 5 pax.

YP SPOTTED PUKING ON HIMSELF IN MRT, EH BRO MAI LIM LA

During most holiday seasons many of us would often enjoy a nice alcoholic beverage but sometimes we can have too much.

A man was spotted in the MRT puking himself on the T-shirt, in the MRT we are often reminded not to consume food or drinks or face a fine.

But how about the other way round?

Cool hair check, cool clothing check, puking on himself check…

The person taking the photo could have offered the man some tissues.

Story:

Here is a story of a similar accident of someone puking in the MRT with someone actually help:

So, before I threw up at the MRT station, I was at the Botanic Gardens taking photos with my friend. We started aroung morning and walked around in the jialat heat for about 3 hours. I had no breakfast or lunch. I also made the mistake of drinking some horrible carrot juice halfway through because I wanted to see if it was really bad, which it was.

So I was already feeling nauseous but we needed to go back to the MRT station, which took about half an hour and the sun was fully out. My friend tried to console me and wanted me to sit at a bus stop first, but I gehkiang say can one lah.

So I walked to the MRT and when I stepped on the escalator, I knew I F up. I wanted to throw up, but there was an ang moh tourist in front of me. I threw up in my mouth and managed to hold it in for a few seconds to avoid the disaster of throwing up on the tourist’s hair and very white and pristine clothes (I distinctively remember the sheer horror of the thought of throwing up all over her). At the same time, I was desperately featuring my friend to get a plastic bag from my backpack.

Then, when we alighted off the escalator I saw a cleaner auntie polishing the floor nice nice, and I remember making eye contact before I spewed bright orange carrot juice vomit on the floor while she watched in horror as her work got drowned out.

As if that wasn’t bad enough I was trying to get my friend to move my backpack which the juice was crawling towards but he couldn’t hear me between retches. Anyway, I was lying prone next to the escalator for everyone coming down to see but the auntie was nice and pointed me to the nearby toilet to wash up.

Then an MRT officer or something in the red shirt and black pants uniform came up to console me when I was done cleaning up, and wanted me to go to their lounge or something where I assume their staff rest. I don’t remember much apart from being very embarassed.

I said I was okay and wanted to get out as soon as I can, but the man was very insistent. Eventually, I freed myself, but he was very nice and calmed me down, he even offered a drink, which I declined.

So, yup, that’s my story of leaving a bright orange puddle and some very helpful staff.

GUY DREAMT THAT HE WON THE $12M TOTO HONGBAO DRAW, WOKE UP & CRIED

A netizen shared how he dreamed that he had won the upcoming $12 million TOTO Hong Bao Draw but then he woke up and returned back to reality, he then started crying because it felt so real.

Here is the story:

I’ve been spending a lot of time daydreaming recently, about what I would do if I won the $12 million TOTO Hong Bao Draw.

I think about it all day, when I wake up in the morning, when I’m on the way to work, when I’m at work, when I’m going home and when I lie down in bed.

I’m sick and tired of living from paycheck to paycheck and having to count every single dollar and cent that I spend.

When I want to splurge on something, I have to save up for months; it would be nice if I could just spend money on whatever I want, whenever I want.

There is this Chinese saying, what you think about in the day will be what you dream about in your sleep, or something loosely along those lines.

So last night, I had this vividly CLEAR dream that felt very real – in the dream, I was at a coffee shop having my lunch during my lunch break and I was checking the Singapore Pools website for the TOTO results.

I saw that all the numbers on my ticket matched the numbers on the website and I jumped up in so much joy and excitement that I toppled over my iced milo on the table.

I kept the ticket safe inside my wallet and walked right back into my office and told my boss that I quit with immediate effect, like RIGHT NOW.

I then went and collected my prize money and immediately went shopping. (I know for large winnings there is a cheque issued and it takes days for the money to go through, but this is a dream, everything makes sense inside a dream)

I bought a new car, a new condo, a bunch of Patek Philippe watches, that Samsung 85 inch 8K smart TV that I saw on a YouTube ad, the latest gaming PC, a bunch of Playstation 5s because I can, a whole lot of diamond chains and diamond rings.

Every bar and club that I go to, I’m surrounded by a bunch of the most beautiful women and I can eat at restaurants without having to check the price on the menu.

I’m buying things like bubble tea for like $5 and giving the cashiers $100, telling them to keep the change.

My wallet is so thick that I can’t even close it properly, WAH SHIOK LAH!

But then I woke up.

I woke up in my bed and looked around at my bedroom, still the same old worn down walls, I’m sitting on the same old creaky bed that has a burn mark on it, the same old wardrobe where one of the doors won’t close fully.

I start thinking about having to be at work in about 2 hours to work for a paycheck that barely covers my bills and daily expenses and I start crying, wishing that the dream was real…

Editor’s note: Bro, we have the same dream LOL! But my friend, it does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live, remember that.

GUY LOST HIS FATHER TO CANCER, FEELS LIKE GRIEF NEVER GOES AWAY

0

A netizen shared a story about how he lost his father to cancer about 7 months ago and that today would’ve been his birthday. He said that he doesn’t think anyone truly gets over their grief and that it’s the worst experience on earth.

Here is the story:

I genuinely don’t believe anyone truly gets over grief, it ruins your life and you just learn to live with a new broken life

My dad passed away from cancer almost 7 months ago. Today would’ve been his birthday actually.

Anyways, I’m 28 and I truly don’t see a way out of this one. This has been the WORST experience on earth it’s been torture.

The worst part, other grieving children I talk to keep trying to make me feel better. “ life gets so much better. One day it’ll stop hurting.”

Everyone who’s a grieving child who I spoke to, their lives are a MESS. They’re just too blind too see it. They’re good people, but far from healthy people. Because how can you be happy once this happens to you?

It might be because it’s fresh, but I have no inner peace and this grief is killing me. Even without the grief, the PTSD and trauma alone are enough to destroy someone

Netizens’ comments

  • Grief isn’t an unwelcome guest you must be rid of as soon as it arrives; It integrates, like a chipped bit in your favorite coffee mug. You still use it even though it’s chipped, and you learned to drink from it while you avoid the chip. This is the way.
  • I mean it gets better, it does, but I wouldn’t say it gets so much better. You really do just learn to live with it. The pain isn’t as strong though as the years go by the pain lessens so that’s why it gets better. You’re still in the really hard stage because it’s so recent.
  • I’m on 17 years and it gets better. You are at a critical juncture and you have a decision to make. Let this death define you for the rest of your life or get help and move on. I chose the former and tried to drink the pain away, it was the easy choice but the wrong one. I wish I would have sought out better help than substance. I wish I would have listened to the annoying perky people telling me it would get better. It’s not a betrayal to not be sad forever.

WOMAN REVEALS THAT HER HUSBAND WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A ONE NIGHT STAND

0

A woman shared how her current husband was originally supposed to be a one night stand and that she didn’t expect to end up marrying and having children with him.

Here is the story:

My husband was supposed to be a one night stand.

I wasn’t really looking to date but I just wanted some attention and passion. My roommates convinced me that to really move on from my ex I just needed to have a one night stand which would help me move on and get back into the swing of things.

I had been single for about 9 months and it had been almost a year since I had been with anyone.

I didn’t plan it or anything but the company I was working for at the time did a monthly game night so I went, my now husband and I were on the same team and were flirting a bit.

I was planning on resigning the following Monday as I had received a better offer so figured why not and I decided to try my luck at seducing him.

He came with me back to my place. And well, you can guess what happened. Things kind of evolved from there, but I never really told my husband that he was supposed to be a one-time thing, lol.

I guess my seduction skills worked, together almost 11 years, married for 9, 4 kids, a house, a dog, and a cat.

INTOLERANT MALE KAREN INSULTS MAN AFTER SPEAKING IN ANOTHER LANGUAGE

A video went viral after a man started a dispute with another on the train.

The video captions accuse the man of starting trouble and the poor Indian man was just trying to call his family via video call.

The uncle started insulting the man and security personnel needed to step in to separate the “male Karen” from the man.

He accuse the man was “trying to check something out, I suspect he is trying to check my ID”, whatever that means?

He says he “I suspected *unintelligible unintelligible*” The poor man had to be questioned by the officers for no reason just because of the intolerant actions of the “male Karen”.

He then says is forced to alight and take the next train, we suspect the male karen/daren needs to see a doctor fast, like A S A P.

The actions of the man wasted the resources such as the time of the officers and caused an unnecessary scene.

Some people really eat full nothing to do.

Here are what netizens say:

  • This is why i hate people like them (uncle /aunties) taking out on the minorities
  • Paranoid uncle
  • Male Karen’s are called darens
  • Its not about the language you speak. Its about drive Its about power

GUY GAINED 56KG OVER THE LAST YEAR, CAN’T BELIEVE WHAT HE’S DONE

0

A netizen shared how he gained over 56kg in 2021 and can’t believe what he has done to himself.

Here is the story:

I gained a lot of weight over the course of 2021, 56.6kg actually, and I can’t believe what I’ve done to myself. Everything in my day to day is so much harder and I wish I could go back and tell myself then to not let this happen.

I’ve put on an entire 56.6kg in the past year during the pandemic from unhealthy, drastic changes to my lifestyle. I stopped exercising, let myself gorge on whatever I want, and I look like an entirely different person.

I never thought I’d let it get this far and I’m so daunted by the thought of getting back to my prior self now. To make matters worse, I’ve happened to gain most of this weight exclusively in my gut and chest, so I look absolutely ridiculous and out of proportion for my age.

My stomach is more than 60 inches around, last I looked, so it really does get in the way. Honestly especially at my age, since I’m only 27, more things than I’d expect have become really impacted.

I mean small things: I can’t really tie my shoes very easily, put on my socks, get out of breath going up a flight of stairs, buying clothes for my build & frame is so hard in men’s stuff, I actually knock stuff over with my belly since I’m not used to it at all.

To bigger things: problems with amusement park rides, fitting into booths going out to bars or restaurants with friends, airplane seatbelts, etc.

I’ve had endless people stare and snicker at me in public trying to navigate around in clothes that are too small on me since I have barely been able to keep up buying new sizes.

I’ve had to chat with my family and boss who have been endlessly harping on me about the weight gain. It’s just endless reminders of what I’ve done to myself. I so wish I could go back in time and change this and never get to this point.

It hasn’t been worth it at all and coming back to reality has made me realize that I need to do something about this ASAP.

Where did you begin? How did you get the motivation? What steps did you take and how have you maintained that self-control? Thank you in advance.

  • Your posting here asking for advice is already a huge step to taking back your lifestyle. I would honestly suggest making more of an effort to eat healthier by eliminating any unhealthy food in your house.
Getting back into the gym would also make drastic changes not just to your body but to your mental health and let you work on your body from a healthy and stable mindset.
When doing cardio, you’re better off to do 15 minutes of high intensity training with lots of sweat as opposed to an hour of moderate training with minimal sweat.
Hope some of my knowledge can help you out. Keep grinding
