MASAGOS: TRY TO STAY AT HOME, GO OUT ONLY IF IT IS REALLY NECESSARY

In the wake of Singapore’s rising number of community cases, Minister for Social and Family Development Masagos Zulkifli urged the public to stay at home whenever possible and to avoid going out unless necessary.

He shared a post on Facebook:

MOH has just announced 24 new COVID-19 community cases.

This is the highest daily number of community cases since July 2020. 17 of these cases are linked to the Changi Airport cluster, bringing the total number of cases in the cluster to 42.

“This is worrying, especially since it is happening during the festive period. Many would have taken leave for a long weekend to go house visiting or simply to engage in outdoor activities.

“I urge everyone to reconsider your plans given the latest development. Do try to stay at home and go out only if really necessary. As much as possible, try to connect with one another through online platforms. If you do need to be outside, do observe seriously the safe management measures.

Earlier this week, Minister Lawrence Wong had shared in Parliament that Singapore is on knife-edge, where the community cases can go either way over the next few weeks. This is especially worrying since the number of unlinked cases is growing and the cases in the cluster are expanding.

“The experts agree too. They opined that it is up to us – whether we cooperate so that we control the increasing cases or clusters or we will end up with another round of circuit breaker given the highly infectious nature of the virus.

Let us all play our part diligently and continue to keep our family, and Singapore safe.

GF LIKE SOMEONE ELSE IN UNI WHILE BF IN NS, GETS GHOSTED

A netizen took her story online to share about her relationship dilemma. She is currently in a relationship with his BF since they met in JC 3 years ago. However, she developed feelings for another guy that she met in hall.

She has no intention of hurting her BF while he is in the army, but she still texts and hangout with the other guy in hall. She developed feelings for the other guy as he helped out with her studies, while talking to each other for a year.

However, the other guy started ghosting her since summer and she does not know how to communicate with him. She feels bad as she still wanted to be friends with this guy, but thinks that it is impossible due to the current situation.

Here is her story:

“Is it wrong to like somebody else when you are attached? I have been in a serious relationship for about 3 years now since JC.

My BF is still in the army and I love him very much and do not plan on hurting his feelings. But I also find myself needlessly texting and hanging out with this guy in hall.

I don’t ever compare the two of them, its just hanging around him for a year has made me developed feelings, especially when he has always been helping me with my academics.

Now that Summer has started, we don’t see each other as much but I still long to see his texts and want to hang out.

We were such good friends before Summer but now he is starting to ghost me and I no longer know how to talk to him.

I feel bad because even if we have no feelings, I still want to be a close friend of his, but at the rate that he is pushing me away, it will not be possible.

I understand that people might say that he is backing off because I am attached, but I never intended to get together with him or anything, just remain as friends.

This topic is so hard to talk to people about especially because I am attached and I fear people will judge me. Most people won’t even want to hear me out and immediately say Im in the wrong.

This is not the advice I want to hear. Others might say I should go and talk to my friend and settle things between us, but the problem is we are not even talking now and I dont wanna lose him as a friend.

My BF is super possessive and if i ever let him know about these feelings, Im scared that he will break up with me and call me a cheater.

Do yall think I am emotionally cheating? How do I talk to someone when he is ghosting me? He is giving me one word replies even if I say it is urgent…

Idk anymore I’m a mess.. I didn’t expect this to happen but it seems that I am incapable of handling my own emotions.

Has anyone ever had the experience of liking someone else other than your significant other? Please let me know!”

MORE THAN 4000 DEATHS IN INDIA REPORTED FOR 2ND STRAIGHT DAY

On Thursday (May 13), more than 4000 deaths were reported for the second day in a row from India, while the number of Covid-19 cases remains below 400,000 for a fourth day.

As Covid-19 continues to spread in rural areas, some cases might not be reported due to testing shortages.

Experts are still not sure when the number of Covid-19 cases will reach its peak and more people are concerned about the transmissibility of the variant which is increasing infection rates and spreading across the globe.

Professor of epidemiology at the University of Michigan Dr Bhramar Mukherjee said that most models had predicted a peak this week and that the country could be seeing signs of that trend.

Still, the number of new cases each day is large enough to overwhelm hospitals, Dr Bhramar Mukherjee added on Twitter. “The key word is cautious optimism.”

With a population of more than 230 million, the situation in rural areas of Uttar Pradesh is extremely grim as TV pictures show families crying in rural hospitals or staying in wards to take care of the sick.

Many bodies can be seen in the Ganges river, as crematoriums are overcrowded and the lack of wood for funerals.
