Facebook user Victor Zelims Chua enquired through whatsapp to order some food from YumSea Seafood Soup Marsiling Mall outlet, but got a very rude response from their customer service.
His first message was at 8:03pm enquiring on ordering a meal the following day. He followed up with a message at 11:54am whether the delivery was on. After being ignored twice, the frustration most probably grew and he sent a message stating “hey if you’re keen to do biz, then don’t post on FB to advertise”.
He got a response immediately from the outlet replying “Sorry we only entertain people with sense and understanding”.
The conversation as stated on Victor Zelims Chua Facebook page.
A 46 year old Taiwanese woman, Sun Zhuyan, is facing two charges which consist of harassment and committing a reckless act which would endanger the lives of others.
She is suspected of enter ION shopping mall at Orchard Road without wearing a mask and deliberately sneezing at a female security guard. In addition, she even threw a globe, a plastic chair, a vacuum cleaner, a glass bottle and three pencils from the third floor of her Fifth Avenue Apartment.
She appeared in court yesterday and she argued with the judge for close to an hour. She even accused the judge of interrupting her speech. She initially pleaded and begged the judge to give her a chance before changing her statement, saying that she did not sneeze at the victim intentionally.
During hearing, the accused not only interrupted the judge and the interpreter, but also asked why the judge could interrupt her but she could not do the same. Thereafter, she also said in a mocking tone: “If you don’t want to listen to me explain, then I will not explain.”
A Facebook user shared a video (20th May) and stated that, there were still many individuals at Robertson Quay who are still not wearing their mask.
He even went to the extent of informing two policemen and social distancing ambassadors about the issue, but their response was that they were brisk walking.
He was puzzled as the speed for brisk walking was 5km per hour which was not the case for the individual who weren’t wearing their mask.

He then had to “discharge his civic duty”, by walking up to them to request that they don their mask, which they complied.
A piece of concrete ceiling fell on a child after he sprayed water at it. The Town Council and HDB visited the unit to do a thorough check on the site.
HDB stated that the spalling concrete was was cause by severe rebar corrosion. And the corrosion most probably happened due to water ingress from the above ceiling which caused the concrete ceiling to fall.
Authorities have said that repair works for the flat will be done on May 22.
This is the full statement from HDB.
“HDB was alerted to an incident of spalling concrete on Tuesday afternoon (19 May 2020). Our officers visited the flat the same day, and found spalling concrete in the ceiling of the toilet.
Spalling concrete occurs when steel bars embedded in the ceiling start to corrode, due to the ingress of moisture and acidic elements. Over time, this causes the concrete ceiling cover to crack and fall off. This is a natural wear and tear process which occurs in older buildings, such as this flat which is 45 years old. It tends to occur more frequently in moisture-prone areas such as the kitchen and bathrooms, where the humidity will speed up the carbonation process, which causes spalling concrete. However, spalling concrete is non-structural in nature and will not affect the building’s structural integrity.
We have helped the family to clear the debris arising from the spalling concrete, and will be carrying out repair works in the flat on Friday (22 May 2020). As this is a rental flat, HDB will bear the cost of repair.
With regular maintenance, spalling concrete in HDB flats, if it occurs, is usually minor and can easily be repaired. If there are signs of spalling concrete, flat owners should carry out repairs early to prevent the problem from deteriorating further and affecting a larger area. In the event rental tenants discover any defects such as spalling concrete or ceiling leak, tenants should report to HDB so that HDB can carry out the necessary repairs. More details on the repair works are available on the HDB InfoWEB.”
