Ng Chiang Huat, 54-years-old was sentenced to 3 days jail on 12 March, for giving an illegal paid rude during 2020’s Circuit Breaker, to 2 passengers who turned out to be LTA officers.

Ng was also disqualified from driving all classes of vehicles for a year.

He was caught after the two passengers that he picked up turned out fo be LTA officers.

Ng pleaded guilty to one count of using his car as a public service vehicle without a proper license, as well as one offenced under the Covid-19 (Temporary Measures) Act.

At the time of the offences, Ng was working as a sales representative at a wholesale trading firm.

He was also a member of the Covid-19 Lockdown SGHitch chat group on Telegram.

Ng posted a message in the group: “Driver looking for pax”, to which a prospective passenger named Decha responded to his post and at about 9.56am, Ng accepted the carpool request and ferried Decha from Choa Chu kang to Plaza Singapura for $12.

A man and woman, later boarded Ng’s car at about 10.20am, and the two turned out to be LTA officers.

25 minutes later, Ng was stopped by an LTA officer at Handy Road and when he was questioned, claimed that the two passengers in his car were his relatives.

So the officer asked him for their names and Ng was unable to provide their exact names.

He then revealed that he was ferrying the two for a fare.

Tan Wen Jie, 28-years-old, an SUSS student, reportedly helped provide criminals with cars that were modified by cloning license plates so that they were “untraceable”.

Tan was convicted on three charges of cheating, as well as three charges of making false declarations relating to car exports and pleaded guilty to cheating the Singapore Customs and LTA.

Nine more similar charges will be taken into consideration during his sentencing.

Tan reportedly conspired with a Lee Wui Liang, 35-years-old, to profit by selling and renting cars that were deregistered, back in September 2018.

He would buy cars with COEs that were about to expire and resell the vehicles for profit.

Lee was in charge of modifyinig the cars in carparks that were quiet, by grinding off the chassis and engine numbers and replacing the license plate with a cloned one; as well as replacing the IC with another registered vehicle’s IU.

Tan was responsible for sourcing the replacement IUs and cloned licensed plates.

This is to prevent the vehicles from being traced when they were used for illegal purposes, and they were sold and rented on Carousell through a middleman who earned a commission.

The court heard that the vehicles were used for criminal activities.

Tan also helped to facillitate the preparation of the documents to make it appear as it the cars had already been or were due to be exported.

He did so by liaising with people from Scrap Car Shop and Absolute Motors, paying them to help him do the paperwork without verifying the status of the cars.

The paperwork were then sent to LTA and Customs, but his entire operation fell through after police managed to trace one of the cars used in a case of Ah Long harassment.

Investigations then led to the arrest of Tan, Lee and their accomplices.

Tan faces a total of 77 cahrges and his case is still under trial.

He is currently out on a bail of $10,000 and is due to return to court on 25 March 2021.

Jimmy Chan’s Filipino maid, 34-year-old Julie Ann Lucero, became gravely sick on February 2021 and has since been warded at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital’s ICU.

Julie reportedly suffered from mutiple organ failures because of severe blood poisoning, and has since been diagnosed with tuberculosis.

She was warded for 27 days and her medical fees have accumulated to a whopping S$120,000.

Julie then decided to return back to her home country for treatment due to the rising medical bills and her repatriation fees amounted to S$45,000.

Chan said that he is willing to help Julie pay her medical bills but he is unable to afford it, as his medical insurance that he bought for her could only cover up to $30,000 (plus $10,000 for her repatriation).

Chan and his wife are salaried workers and have 2 daughters aged 14 and 18.

He then set up a donation drive for Julie on GiveAsia, which has so far raised about $95,000.

He is appealing to the public for donations to help with the mounting debt.

The Singapore Police teamed up with a multitude of agencies to conduct a series of enforcement operations.

Illegal sale of cough syrup, sex-enhancement drugs and medicines

An assortment of illegal medicines as well as other sexual enhancement products and illegal medicines were seized.

7 men are being investigated for offences under the Health Products Act, Immigration Act and Societies Act, with the youngest being only 15-years-old and the oldest, 55-years-old.

Illegal gambling

Gambling related paraphernalia alongside more than $25,000 in cash were confiscated.

16 men and 20 women are being investigated under the Common Gaming Houses Act, with the suspects aged between 40 to 95 years old.

Unlicensed massage establishments

A man and 2 women were arrested for offences under the Employment and Foreign Manpower Act; and a 38-year-old woman was arrested for an offence under the Women’s Charter.

Four massage establishments were also discovered to be purportedly operating without license.

Hawking illegally

A bunch of secondhand goods being hawked in public for sale were seized for investigations.

5 men between the ages of 50 and 66, were suspected to be illegally hawking and were issued summonses under the Environmental Public Health Act.

They were hawking secondhand goods in a public place without a license issued from SFA.

The worm looked like a giant caterpillar.

It is understood that Foodpanda gave her a refund.

A PMD rider was jailed yesterday after he attacked a family on a footpath.

57-years-old Yeo Kian Heng, the violent man behind the crime drank two bottles of beer and rode his PMD on a footpath in Woodlands. His journey was blocked by the family who was in his way, he then shouted at the family saying “not his father’s road”.

The incident happened on Feb 1st 2020 at Woodlands Avenue 7 about 8.30 PM.

After the rider managed to ride past the family, he dropped his PMD on the grass patch and confronted the family.

He then punched the father in the face and continued to attack him even after the victim fell on the ground.

He stomped on his ribs and groin area

The 10-year-old son who tried to stop the attacker failed to do so, he also tried to hit his wife but she managed to dodge his attacks. Soon after the rider escaped from the scene.

He was later apprehended by the Police and was sentenced in court yesterday to 13months, 2 weeks and 1 day jail with a S$500 fine.
