I encountered a nasty experience with comfort taxi today. I was turning out at a service road beside geylang lor 27. A comfort taxi stop in the middle of the junction blocking me from exiting.
When i honked at him, he stared at me and take his time to slowly drive forward. What makes it worst is he stopped at continuous single zigzag line to drop off a passenger. This hinder my way to exit.
I was having packed lunch at a void deck at Kaki bukit, Jln Tenega, when such inhuman behavior utterly disgusted me.
This foreign worker just had his lunch, lying on the ground at a corner resting, taking afternoon nap (without blocking anyone’s passage). This uncle (probably in early 60s) walked by and was very furious with the worker lying there, immediately confronted the worker.
“Oi Oi Oi!!! Who are you? Why are you sleeping down here?! You are not allowed to sleep here! This is my house! Here is not for sleeping! What are you doing here?!” He shouted.
And it goes on & on & on….The worker had no chance in rebutting. Clearly from what I heard, this worker had years of experience working in Singapore because of his fluent singlish trying to rebut the man. Parts of the conversation are in this video. Nothing more to describe much except for the man’s mindset of unaccepting foreign workers to lie on the ground, and I was so mad at him for shouting and scolding the poor worker.
I stopped the recording and confronted the man. He was taken aback. He thought I would “support” his stand, apparently not. 🙄 He left immediately after not being able to rebut my words, warning & scolding. 😂😂😂
This issue with residents acceptability with foreign workers lying in void decks resting, was a local hot topic back in early 2000s. I thought most, if not, all Singaporeans would have been used to and accepted to this scene. Unless the workers tried to be funny, residents will take action.
If you disagree with the actions of the man, SHARE it! Not to shame him, but to put across the message that at any circumstances when you see foreign workers lying around to rest, no one should act as if they have authority and start confronting & shouting at them! What a SHAMEFUL behavior! 🙁
You were a kitten when I first saw you on 12Dec2018. You were stuck in a car bumber and we managed to get you out from the car. You were crying out loud and was so afraid of people.
We left some foods and water for you and stay with you till midnight just to ensure you eat and drink before we clean up. You were so adorable!
Saw you one weeks ago, you’ve grown up and put on a bit of weight. And i am so happy for you.
Today, I heard the news of someone killed a cat last week and posters was everywhere at my area. Rushed over to take a look at the poster and my heart stopped.
According to the police media, an operation on the illegal transaction of Marine gas oil was conducted against criminals trying to make a quick buck. A boat was seized for investigations.
Police Media Release:
The Police Coast Guard (PCG) has arrested eleven men aged between 22 and 44 for their suspected involvement in an illegal transaction of marine gas oil (MGO).
On 19 February 2019, in a joint operation with the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), the PCG arrested six crew members of a craft belonging to a marine service provider and another five crew members of a foreign-registered tugboat for illegal transaction of MGO at the sea off Jurong Island. Preliminary investigations revealed that the crew members of the marine service provider’s craft are believed to have misappropriated 2 metric tonnes of MGO and sold it to the crew members of the foreign-registered tugboat. The tugboat was seized for investigations.
The six crew members of the craft owned by a marine service provider will be charged in court with criminal breach of trust as servant and the five crew members of the foreign registered tugboat will be charged in court with dishonestly receiving stolen property on 21 February 2019.
The PCG and MPA take a serious view of illegal transaction of marine fuel in Singapore waters. The PCG will continue to conduct enforcement and security checks to prevent, deter and detect such illicit activities in Singapore waters.
