SORRY CANNOT BOOK VOID DECK FOR FUNERAL AS NO OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS STAY THERE

To the Marsiling-Yew Tee Town Council

I would like highlight an incident that happened on 9th April 2018 around 8.30am, regarding the booking for my grandfather’s funeral wake.

My father went to your town council to make a booking for my grandfather’s funeral wake. However, we were told that despite the fact that my grandfather stayed at block 3 Marsiling Road for so many years, we were not allowed to book there as none of the family members stayed at the same block . My father was also instructed to go around and asked people staying in that block to help us make the booking.

Secondly, he was told that the multi-purpose hall next to the block cannot be used for funeral wakes and no reason was given, just a straight ‘No’ from the officer.

Under Blk 3, there were so many alternate rubbish chutes and the smell was really bad. The multi-purpose Hall was just next to the block and more importantly, away from the rubbish chutes.

Thirdly, the officer claimed that Blk 3 Marsiling Road was not under the Marsiling-Yew Tee Town council jurisdiction and told my father to go to another town council to book. When my father asked for more information on which town council, the officer conveniently told him to search the internet. By then, my father was really upset and tired. He told the officer that he does not know how to access the internet. With much unwillingness, the officer then checked and said it is under Admiralty town council and asked my father to go there. And all this while, the funeral services people were waiting down the block for approval to do the set up.

When my father finally reached Admiralty town council, he was slapped with another rejection! The officer told him that Blk 3 is not under their jurisdiction, and was puzzled as to why my father was directed there.

I would like to commend the officer at the admiralty town council who attended to my dad for being very understanding, knowing he was grieving, helped him call the Marsiling- Yew Tew town council, and talked to the officer there and even helped to book the funeral for him even though it is not under their jurisdiction.

I do not understand why family members are not allowed to book for the funeral wake under the block where the deceased stayed in. This is where the deceased hold their memories the most with their neighbors and friends, a place dear to them.

I also do not understand why the multi-purpose hall could not be used for funeral wakes. During the 3 days of wake, we had to endure the stench of the rubbish chute with the guests, with them covering their noses all the time, and we family members had to spray water at the rubbish chute area to clear the smell constantly.

To make matters worse, on the 2nd night of the wake, the rubbish chute was being cleared at 7:30pm, and that was when the number of guests at the wake was the greatest. The stench was so unbearable that we felt so sorry for the guests and embarrassed too. In what way is this a dignified funeral for the deceased? I still can’t believe that one could not hold a decent funeral in Singapore to protect the dignity the deceased!

Lastly, Marsiling area is an old estate with lots of elderlies who do not know how to use the computer, is the town council also going to push them around like fools and leave them to look for information on their own? Ridiculously the town council officers themselves are unclear of the areas under their jurisdiction, yet they demand that the members of the public to have the knowledge?

During this period our family is grieving and we have so many to things to handle, yet we have to deal with such unnecessary inconvenience and unprofessional attitude. This is totally disappointing and unacceptable. I hope this feedback will serve as a wake up reminder to Marsiling-Yew Tee town council that their purpose is to help the residents, especially the grieving ones, to run matters through more smoothly, and not just work according to their own convenience.

I sincerely hope that in future, no one will have to encounter this type of frustrating experience that my father had gone through.

BMW DRIVER MADE ELDERLY PUMP ATTENDANT PAY FOR $125 OF PETROL!!!

Dear Caltex,

I earlier witnessed an incident at Caltex Tampines Ave 8 @2pm on 14 April and it filled me with such indignation that it prompted me to write this to you, hoping that you could help alleviate the financial obligation of your employee and implement appropriate measures to handle the incident as follows.

While processing payment at the Cashier counter, the customer (picture uploaded herewith) and driver of BMW vehicle SLT6883G, claimed that your pump attendant had mistakenly refilled a full tank of petrol costing about $135 for his vehicle instead of the $10 petrol that he had instructed. He refused to pay the full amount and insisted to pay only $10 for the full tank.

The pump attendant probably in his early 60s, was subsequently summoned to the Cashier counter to verify. He explained that he had heard that it was a full tank refill but the customer immediately rebutted it. What happened next astonished me. Instead of creating a scene by engaging in an argument with the customer, the elderly pump attendant calmly informed the Cashier to let the customer pay $10 and he would personally absorb the rest of the cost. As a result, the customer walked away smugly paying a mere $10 payment for a full tank of petrol for his BMW Series 5 vehicle.

Whilst I was impressed with the collected composure and professional customer service that both your Cashier and pump attendant had displayed throughout the incident, I am deeply disturbed that the customer had capitalized on the opportunity to make the elderly pump attendant pay for the supposedly oversight. The customer could have responded gentlemanly and be gracious to forgive by paying for the petrol since his vehicle would need to consume it anyway. Alternatively, he could have paid for a partial amount instead of making the elderly pump attendant bear the full $125. Unfortunately, this was not so.

I have done some online research and noticed that the remuneration of a pump attendant averages about $1600/mth in Singapore. $125 means a significant 8% of his meagre salary. Would Caltex consider waiving this amount or allowing the pump attendant to pay at cost?

Also, assuming it was entirely the pump attendant’s oversight, under such circumstances, perhaps the Cashier could have proposed to the customer to pay for a partial amount instead of allowing the elderly pump attendant bear full monetary responsibility?

Alternatively, for proof of evidence, perhaps Caltex can install CCTVs equipped with audio recording of drivers’ instructions to the pump attendants at each pump? What are Caltex’s existing guidelines and policies to handle such situation? I am concerned that if no effective standard operating systems are defined, such practices of having pump attendants to bear the price discrepancies can lead to abuse. Imagine if one uses this approach on each petrol station in Singapore every few days, it is tantamount to one walking away striking lottery frequently and the accumulated value will be very substantial!

The rider came to his right , bang his window , open the door and spit at him . He shut the door and moved off .

The rider of the bike continue to tail him. So my friend drive to a nearby coffee shop and got off his car and started to record him in case he do anything . The rider came towards him, grab my friend’s phone and throw a punch at him that cause him to fell and hit his head at the kerb. He was unconscious till ambulance came .

MAID CLEANING WINDOWS AT HIGH UNIT! SO DANGEROUS!

“A very kind and worried FDW has just sent me these pictures. She has noticed several times this helper cleaning the windows on the 32nd floor, in Farer Road.

If you see this post and also to all domestic workers in Singapore, please do be careful. Your employer should NOT ask you to clean windows in that manner. It is very dangerous. It is not worth the risks.”

We would prefer that those tenants with maids living in high floors would engage in a professional to clean windows from outside the unit to ensure no one accidentally falls to their death.

“MAID AT MY HOME IS A TREASURE HUNTER. TAKE CASH NOT ENOUGH, LISTERINE ALSO TAKE”

Power la this maid

“She literally wiped out my whole room and everyone lost something… Like Listerine… Green tea… and she stole my cousin’s pads to keep the cash!”

“She wanted to go back to her country n told us her ‘aunt’ will compensate the agency. The following week, she was caught leaving the house in d morning n that made us suspicious of her behaviour. We were totally uncomfortable, which prompted us to keep our belongings. That’s when I found out I had lost so many items.

So we reviewed the CCTV and the neighbourhood shops around our area. Apparently she has been stealing from everyone in the house too. She stole my dad’s earphone and uses it like her own too.”
