For 34 years, I lived with anger and resentment against a mother whom I thought had abandoned me.
I couldn’t understand why she left.
I am now searching for my biological mother to find closure.
I have made inquiries from my relatives however none of them knows of her whereabouts.
The only details I have of my mother are as follows:

• D.O.B: 14 November 1960
• Last known address: Block 269 Tampines Street 21 #08-179 Singapore 1852
• Last seen date: 22 November 1983
• Below is the only picture I have of my mother

Not a r/s expert here, but I once watched an episode of the Oprah show in which Steve Harvey was also on it. Steve was asked by a group of 6 women on where to find good men. He said men show love through the 3 P’s (profess, provide and protect) so if you’re independent, a man would have lost his function of the last 2 P’s.

But, I don’t think that he’s being “afraid” of you. I believe he was having or had the difficulty to find his (traditional) role. He wasn’t afraid of you per se, but afraid that he would be disturbing you (because you seemed perfectly fine without him).

And, I would like to think that this problem is further compounded by two more factors. 1st, women in Singapore are more and more financially self-sufficient. 2nd, the progress of both women’s and men’s mentality could not catch up with the progress of the 1st factor. I.e. women still think that men should make the first move (probably harboring the concept that the society is still punitive against women who display their sexuality openly) and men still think that they should be the superior party in a couple.

All these ultimately lead to the current social phenomenon whereby women keep attracting fkboys (because fkboys don’t really care about providing or protecting) and (good) men keep marrying later and later (? due to need to obtain certain social and financial status)

Rmb LKY once asked a PhD student whether she had a boyfriend? He was a wise man, he probably saw this issue way before I did.
