We received a call yesterday alerting us to a dog on a ledge, on the third floor of an HDB flat. Our rescue officers, Sani and Mark, immediately went down to the scene. As access to the dog was only possible via the unit, and the owners were not in, we sought assistance from the HDB, AVA and the police, to contact the owner of the unit.
While waiting for the owners to return, our rescue officers found some discarded mattresses and placed them beneath the ledge. In addition, a canvas was also set up, as a secondary precaution.
A member of the public managed to get the word out to the dog’s owner, who quickly rushed back home. Our rescue officer was then able to bring the animal to safety. The dog was thankfully unhurt. The owner was advised to ensure that the windows in the home were secured and that furniture was not placed next to the windows.
We thank Ms Joreen Yeo and two other members of the public for assisting us in holding onto the canvas sheet, while our officer rescued the dog. Special mention to Ms Joreen Yeo who not only called our 24-hour emergency hotline 6287 5355 ext 9, she continued to keep an eye out for the dog until the animal was safe and sound. We deeply appreciate her efforts.

So earlier today (03/07/2017) at 3:38pm I made a booking using the @Grab car app. After a couple of minutes, I got a driver. I waited nearly about 20 minutes. Once he arrived, he wind down the window and double confirmed my name. What was so suspicious was, he came in a silver MYVI, where in the app actually stated TOYOTA INNOVA and there was ANOTHER MAN in the front seat! I stopped getting out of my house and asked him:
Me: Why is it a MYVI when it’s supposed to be a Toyota Innova?
Driver: ahh…no that car repair.
Me: Why is there another passenger with you in the car?
Drives: *paused awhile*.. he’s my friend.
Me: It’s ok I’ll cancel the booking.
Driver: Flew off.
Firstly, he came in a different car with a different number plate. Secondly, there was another person in the car which was his ‘friend’. Like come on guys how does that even make sense? How are the drivers even allowed to have their friends with them during a ride? And even after coming across so many cases these days, this is really scary!
So please be extra aware when you make a booking and who’s car you’re really getting into! You can never predict what’s about to happen, so it doesn’t cost much to put your safety ahead.

A ban immediately leads to street vendors and school teachers and students protest. We have expressed puzzled: in this Chinese accounted for three-quarters of the diversified countries, why the highest institutions can not tolerate the Chinese signs?
