A few days ago, I had booked a JustGrab ride at 6:30pm and it was a taxi that had accepted my booking. After the trip had ended and I checked my receipt, I was surprised to find that I had been charged a booking fee of $3.30. This is wrong as there are no booking fees for JustGrab rides even if they are in taxis. Either this taxi driver was unaware of this point or he was out to overcharge me deliberately. The taxi did not pass through any ERP gantries.

When I pressed Book, my request was accepted almost immediately in under 1 minute; I was surprised that a TD had accepted my request so quickly right in the middle of a weekday evening peak hour period when it is fairly easy for taxis to get street hail passengers. The fare of $7 for JustGrab is comparable to the distance fare going by the meter. However the meter fare also has a 25% peak hour surcharge, so the meter fare is more than the JustGrab fare. This TD may have accepted my request thinking that since he could charge a booking fee, he does not ‘lose out’ by accepting a lower fare.

Netizen posted online that he was approach by two PRC businessmen that could not afford to take the taxi. They also claimed that both of them lost the wallets in a previous taxi.

“I was approached last month in Changi Business Park asking for S$30 loan by 2 well dress Chinese look alike businessmen from China.”

“Claiming they lost ALL their money in a taxi and need to travel to JB. Make any sense? No loan given.”

Poh Jia Qi, 15, has left her parents’ landed home at Jalan Sikudangan near MacPherson… but it’s not the first time she’s done it.

She has left her home 3 times before this, but this is the first time she has stayed out for more than a night.

According to a police notice, “Jia Qi was last seen wearing a black t-shirt and a pair of black shorts.”

Chinese dailies reported in the days before she went missing, Jia Qi had been at her ex-husband’s place when she had an argument with her father. Soon after, when her father was not at home, she climbed over the wall of her landed property and got into a waiting car that drove off swiftly.

Her mother told Chinese reporters she hoped that Jia Qi’s friends can help persuade her to come home.

My thai girlfriend was refused entry to Singapore at this airport because she didn’t carry enough money with her. Even though I was waiting for her at the airport customs insisted she is lying and instead of contacting me they confiscated her phone, money, and all her belongings, and locked her up and took all her money for her flight back to Bangkok the next morning.

When I finally got a phone number to call at this airport I was told she was refused entry, and that she will be fine, she will get food and accommodation before she goes back to Bangkok. I spent half of Valentine’s day alone in Singapore then I booked my flight to Bangkok to meet her.

When I met her she told me she was not given any food, she was not even allowed to go to the bathroom, all her money was taken, she had to sleep in a dorm room where security would come all night every 10 minutes with lights scaring the shit out of her.

Nice. Singapore, never again. It’s a shit place anyway rains every day, and expensive. You get a five star hotel in Thailand or Malaysia for the price of a dorm room in Singapore.
