In the early hours of May 22, a chain collision on the Pan-Island Expressway (PIE) towards Changi Airport resulted in three individuals being taken to the hospital. The incident, which involved three cars and a taxi, occurred at 1:55 am and resulted in the temporary closure of two rightmost lanes of the three-lane expressway.

According to the police, a 54-year-old male car driver, a 63-year-old male taxi driver, and his 40-year-old male passenger were conscious when they were taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital. The Singapore Civil Defence Force confirmed that the three individuals were taken to the hospital for further treatment.

Photos of the aftermath of the accident, posted on the Facebook group Singapore roads accident.com, show a ComfortDelGro taxi caught between a dark-coloured sedan and a light-coloured car. A video of the incident, posted by user Shafie Sham, shows at least one ambulance at the scene.

The cause of the accident is currently under investigation by the police. However, the incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of safe driving practices, particularly on expressways where high speeds can increase the risk of accidents.

Motorists are reminded to maintain a safe following distance, adhere to speed limits, and remain vigilant at all times. The LTA has also urged drivers to stay calm and avoid panic in the event of an accident, as this can help to prevent further collisions and ensure the safety of all road users.

The LTA has stated that they will continue to monitor the situation and take necessary actions to ensure the safety of all road users. This may include traffic diversions, road closures, or increased enforcement efforts to ensure compliance with traffic regulations.

In conclusion, while accidents can happen unexpectedly, safe driving practices and adherence to traffic regulations can help to minimize the risk of accidents and ensure the safety of all road users.
