Most of the monkeypox cases to date have been men who had intercourse with other men, but it appears children are getting infected by the disease as well.
More than 80 children across several countries have been infected with the disease, according to a report by Bloomberg.
But with that being said, it only counts for a small fraction of the 18,000 monkeypox cases across the world.
It is also worth highlighting that most of the infected children contracted monkeypox through their household contacts, according to Bloomberg.
Dr Jay Varma, a professor of population health sciences, was cited as saying that anyone can contract the disease, with contact in the form of sharing clothes, towels, touching sores or prolonged skin-to-skin contact being able to spread the disease.
