CNB MONITORING EMERGENCE OF NEW DEADLY DRUG COCKTAIL “HAPPY WATER”

The Central Narcotic Bureau spoke to The Straits Times saying that they are monitoring the situation of the emergence of a drug cocktail called Happy Water in the region.

Happy Water is a deadly drug cocktail comprising synthetic powdered drugs that contain caffeine, diazepam, ketamine, Ecstacy, methamphetamine and tramadol.

The mixture comes in sachets and is mixed with water and drank by users as a drink.

In Singapore, diazepam and tramadol are prescription drugs, while ketamine, Ecstacy and methamphetamine are controlled drugs.

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) issued a report on the latest developments of synthetic drugs in East and Southeast Asia, expressing concerns over Happy Water.

Happy Water is emerging in Southeast Asia, with the deadly drug being sold at a few bars in Pattaya, Thailand.

The drug has also emerged in Myanmar inside bars, clubs and KTV outlets.

CNB said that they are aware of the reports about the drug’s emergence and are monitoring the situation.

They added that at present, they have not detected a trend of instances of Happy Water in Singapore.
