Loanshark harassment was reported on August 24, 2021, when automobiles parked along Mayflower Avenue were splattered with paint and debtor’s notes were left behind.

Officers from the Criminal Investigation Department and the Ang Mo Kio Police Division determined the duo’s identities and detained them within 12 hours of the report after conducting ground investigations and using pictures from police cameras and CCTVs.

On August 26, 2021, the two will be charged in court. First-time offenders found guilty of engaging or trying to do any acts of harassment on behalf of an unlicensed moneylender face up to five years in jail, a fine of $5,000 to $50,000, and three to six strokes of the cane, according to the Moneylenders’ Act (Revised Edition 2010).
