The customer, identified as Johnson LK on Facebook, shared his unpleasant experience in the Singapore Heritage Food Facebook group, along with a photograph showing what appeared to be a cockroach partially hidden beneath pieces of chicken.

According to Johnson, the discovery was particularly disturbing because he had already eaten several mouthfuls of the meal before noticing the insect. The incident has since attracted attention online, with the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) confirming that it is investigating the matter.

Customer Paid S$5.50 For Mixed Rice Before Making Shocking Discovery

Johnson claimed that he purchased the S$5.50 meal from Nanyang Jia Xiang Mixed Rice & Chicken Rice, a food stall operating at Tampines Bus Interchange.

Based on a NETS transaction screenshot shared alongside his Facebook post, the purchase was made on 4 November.

After buying the food, Johnson brought the packet home to eat. However, what should have been an ordinary meal turned into an unpleasant experience when he noticed something unusual among the ingredients.

Speaking to 8world News, he claimed that the cockroach was still alive when he discovered it.

The customer subsequently posted photographs of the incident on social media, explaining that he wanted to warn other diners about his experience.

Another Customer Allegedly Encountered Similar Problem

Johnson also highlighted a separate Google review suggesting that another customer had encountered a similar situation involving the same food stall.

The review, which was reportedly still publicly accessible when checked by MustShareNews, contained an allegation that a cockroach had been discovered in a S$7 meal.

However, the circumstances surrounding the second complaint have not been independently established, and it remains unclear whether the two alleged incidents are connected.

The allegations have raised concerns about food hygiene standards, particularly at establishments serving large numbers of commuters and residents daily.

Nevertheless, the presence of a foreign object in a meal does not automatically establish how contamination occurred. The circumstances would need to be examined before responsibility can be determined.
