DRIVER EVADING PARKING FEE BY TAILGATING OUT OF CARPARK

A video emerged online showing a car tailgating another vehicle to avoid paying the carpark fees.

The tailgating car in question is a black Toyota Estima, which was caught by the tailgatee’s dashcam following close behind as the vehicle left the HDB carpark.

The Black Toyota Estima was seen in a parking lot lying in wait for the vehicle to pass through before commencing on his/her tailgating.

The incident happened at Block 649 Jalan Tenaga and the entire incident was captured on video.

It happened on 10 November 2021 at around 3.23 pm.

Potencial punishments

It is an offense to evade payment of parking fees by tailgating other drivers’ vehicles or bypassing carpark gantries at EPS carparks.

Offenders found guilty of the offence faces a fine of $35 for motorcycles, a fine of $70 for cars, and a fine of $100 for heavy vehicle.

At present, both HDB and URA have already issued about 4,400 notices to motorists and drivers who evaded parking fees.
