The incident happened on 21 March 2020, After having a few beers with his friends at Geylang Lorong 16, the man started to flip the coffeeshop table and started kicking chairs.

At around 10PM, as he was leaving with his friends one of his companions started chatting with a patron from another table. Tan got impatient and started behaving violently. He first started with vulgarities and later started getting physical.

Many customers who were unable to tolerate his behaviour left the coffee shop. When the female owner of the coffeeshop tried to stop him he attempted to hit her but was stopped by the owner’s spouse.

The owner’s spouse then grabbed on to him and Tan fell down. After Tan got up he started to take off his shirt and argue with a motorist, he started to walk around Geylang Road and eventually lay down in the middle of the road.
