DRUNK YISHUN MAN BROUGHT KNIFE TO COFFEESHOP AFTER DISPUTE

According to a media release, a man in his 40s was arrested for causing a ruckus with a knife after quarrelling with a lion dance troupe.

The incident happened on Friday(17/01/20) night at about 8 PM at a coffeeshop located at Yishun Avenue 11 Block 417. A Getai was nearby and a lion dance troupe was there to perform, according to a witness at around 6 PM, the man was seen arguing with the lion dance troupe for unknown reasons.

The man left the scene after the dispute, but returned two hours later with a knife, thankfully by then the lion dance troupe has already left the area. Witnesses from the coffeeshop stated that the man has been drinking since 3 PM.

He allegedly went into a drunken frenzy and started harassing residents in the area while carrying a weapon. It is believed that he wanted to vent his frustration since he could not find the lion dance troupe.

The Police were alerted at around 8 PM and the man was arrested.
