8world reported that at least 7 elderly people were seen doing this regularly, where they would walk around the food centre and look for food that patrons have left behind on the tables.

The Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) said that they are working with hawkers and volunteers to identify the elderly and offer them help.

Reporters from 8world were at the People Park Food Centre and noticed that a man in his 60s was eating leftover food every morning, and there were also 4 other elderly men doing the same thing in the afternoon and evenings.

One of the men would even bring a box to pack the leftover food and take it with him.
