ERP Charges To Rise Again In Singapore From Jun. 29, Some Drivers May Pay Up To S$5

Singapore motorists will soon have to fork out more money to use certain expressways during peak hours, after the Land Transport Authority announced another round of Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) adjustments.

From Jun. 29, ERP charges at two gantries will increase by S$1, with some timings reaching as high as S$5. The move comes after traffic speeds along several expressways reportedly slowed down due to heavier congestion observed in April 2026.

According to the authority, the latest revision is part of ongoing efforts to manage road traffic and maintain smoother travelling conditions during busy periods. While only selected gantries are affected this time, many drivers are already expressing frustration online over the rising cost of driving in Singapore.

The revised pricing means motorists travelling during peak-hour windows could end up paying significantly more each month, especially frequent commuters who pass through multiple ERP points daily.

School Holiday ERP Discounts To Return Temporarily

Before the new price hike kicks in, drivers can still enjoy temporary relief during the June school holidays.

The Land Transport Authority confirmed that ERP charges at six locations will be reduced across 18 time slots from Jun. 2 to Jun. 28. The discounted rates are intended to reflect lighter traffic volumes during the school holiday period when fewer students are travelling.

Once the holiday period ends, rates will revert to their normal levels on Jun. 29, including the newly increased charges at the affected gantries.

Singapore’s ERP system has long been one of the country’s main traffic management tools, but every rate adjustment tends to spark fresh debate over transport costs, car ownership expenses, and the increasing financial burden on motorists.

Orchard Road ERP May Return After Years Of Suspension

In a development that may concern even more drivers, the authority also revealed it is considering bringing ERP charges back to the Orchard Road area.

ERP operations around Orchard have remained suspended since April 2020 during the pandemic period. However, officials said traffic conditions within the shopping district have consistently remained below optimal speeds since October 2025.

If congestion worsens further in the next quarter, ERP gantries around the “Orchard Cordon” could officially return.

The possible reinstatement has already triggered discussions among motorists and shoppers, especially since Orchard Road remains one of Singapore’s busiest retail and entertainment districts.

For now, ERP rates at all other gantries and timings remain unchanged, though authorities said traffic conditions will continue to be monitored closely.
