EX-COO OF HARRY’S BAR FINED OVER INDIAN NATIONALS HIRING SCHEME

Parmjit Kaur, 49, a former chief operating officer of Harry’s International was fined $40,000 after she got an assistant HR manager to make employment pass applications citing high salaries for 20 workers from India who were actually hired for work permit positions.

The former COO of the well-established bar and dining chain would hire workers who would be offered a $3,100 monthly salary. But these workers would have to return more than half their salaries as reimbursements for transportation and meal expenses.

The Ministry of Manpower discovered these offences after receiving a tip-off. Kaur is no longer with the company.
