
According to a media release, a 53-year-old ex-lawyer claimed trial on 22 Jun 2020, after the accuse allegedly molested his 13-year-old stepdaughter.
The incident happened between Aug to Dec 2017, the accuse allegedly squeezed the breast and buttock of the victim and also kissed her on the lips.
A close trial was held on Monday which means the trial is not open to the public for hearing including the media.
Anyone convicted for molesting a minor below 14 years old could be jailed up to 5 years and fined or caned. However, as the accuse is over the age of 50 he cannot be caned.
The 53-year-old is the second former lawyer that has appeared in court for a sexual-related offence this month.
Previously, an ex-lawyer was sentenced to 4 weeks of jail after he pleaded guilty of insulting a woman’s modesty by taking photos of the chest and underwear of his female colleague.
