As Thailand implements its new digital arrival form, known as the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC), travelers are being warned to be vigilant against potential scams. The TDAC, which is mandatory for all foreign arrivals—including those from Malaysia—can be filled out online starting this month (May 2025). However, a fraudulent website has already emerged, attempting to exploit unsuspecting travelers.
According to reports from the Bangkok Post, the fake website masquerades as an official third-party service provider, charging users a processing fee of USD 10 (approximately S$13) for the TDAC. In contrast, the legitimate TDAC application is free of charge on the official government site. Travelers are advised to ensure they are using the correct platform to avoid unnecessary fees and complications.
Once the TDAC is completed on the official website, users will receive a confirmation email that they can present upon arrival in Thailand. The Immigration Bureau has clarified that applications for the TDAC can be submitted up to three days before arrival, but not earlier. This measure is designed to streamline the entry process for travelers while ensuring that the system is prepared for a smooth operation.
Thailand’s Ministry of Tourism and Sports has assured the public that backup measures are in place to assist travelers who may encounter issues during the initial rollout of the TDAC. For those who face difficulties, paper immigration forms will be temporarily available at entry points, including Suvarnabhumi Airport, where computer terminals will also be set up for travelers needing to fill out the TDAC upon arrival.
As the travel landscape continues to evolve, it is crucial for travelers to stay informed and cautious, particularly regarding new requirements and potential scams. The emergence of fake websites highlights the importance of verifying the authenticity of online services, especially when it comes to travel documentation.
Stay tuned for further updates and ensure your travel plans are secure by using only official channels for your TDAC application.
