The famous Pulau Ubin bicycle rental shop that Singaporeans always patronize to rent bicycles has closed down, as revealed by Nor Syazwan Bin Abdul Majid, who posted about it on his Facebook page, entitled Wan’s Ubin Journal.
Wan recognized that the owner, Mr Sum, had played a part in promoting Ubin’s culture and heritage, and thanked him for “providing visitors with years of bicycle rental services”.
He added that he doesn’t know why the owner decided to shut his doors for good.
But rest assured, visitors who visit Pulau Ubin can still rent their bicycles from other vendors.
It is also worth nothing that all the land on Pulau Ubin is owned by the state, and that Mr Sum’s “kampung house” will be returned to the state.
