The management of the temple has made the decision to cancel the event, in spite of the lifting of restrictions since last year.

The temple will instead be closed at 6.30pm on Chinese New Year’s Eve.

The event was previously cancelled in 2021 and 2022 due to the pandemic and in view of the devotees’ safety because of the large crowds that will gather there.

A spokesperson for the temple said that they will be open from 7am to 6.30pm on Chinese New Year’s eve (21 January).

Some other activities will also be suspended from 20 to 24 January, such as the Kau Chim and requests for protective amulets.

Devotees will only be allowed to pray at the temple for blessings.
