The Malaysia-Singapore border has finally reopened! The clock struck 12 a.m. on April 1, and a man set off from Singapore on a bicycle and became the first man to return home through the Sultan Iskandar Building.
As the COVID-19 epidemic is raging around the world, the government implemented the Movement Control Order on March 18, 2020, resulting in the stranded Malaysians getting stuck in Singapore and tourists unable to travel to Malaysia.
Cycling is the fastest way to get to Johor
Ke Yangguang (46 years old, working as a salesman in Singapore) pointed out in an interview with China Daily that he applied for VTL to return to Malaysia during the Lunar New Year this year but find it troublesome.
He said that the easiest and fastest way across the border is using a bicycle and as it turns out he is the first person to reach Malaysia.
At least a few people were spotted with a foldable bicycle and travelling back to Malaysia in a similar way.
When the border just opened, there was a lot of traffic and it subside in only a few hours.
