The incident, which was shared on Instagram page Instagram account “sgfollowsall”, reportedly took place on Apr. 28 at around 4.51pm between Tai Seng MRT Station and MacPherson MRT Station.

According to the eyewitness who submitted the video, the altercation initially started as a verbal argument at around 4.49pm before escalating into a full physical confrontation.

The witness claimed the men were arguing in Hokkien, though the exact reason behind the dispute remains unclear.

Unlike many public transport disputes involving priority seating, the witness noted that both men were already seated when the argument began.

Passengers Tried To Stop Fight But Struggled

The situation reportedly escalated quickly, with one of the men allegedly “pounding” the other person’s head during the scuffle.

Shocked passengers attempted to intervene and stop the pair from fighting, but their efforts were reportedly unsuccessful as the confrontation turned increasingly aggressive.

Videos circulating online appeared to show the men wrestling and even standing on MRT seats while continuing to exchange blows inside the crowded train cabin.

Several commuters could also be seen moving away from the altercation while others tried to calm the situation down.

The eyewitness added that both men eventually ran out of the train after it arrived at MacPherson MRT Station.

It remains unclear whether transit officers or police managed to apprehend either individual after the incident.

Online Reactions Flood Social Media

Following the viral post, social media users flooded the comments section with a mixture of jokes, criticism and concern over the incident.

Some netizens humorously compared the fight to professional wrestling events and mixed martial arts competitions, while others criticised the men for causing disruption on public transport.

A number of commenters also expressed concern about rising aggressive behaviour in public spaces across Singapore, especially during peak commuting hours.

Public fights onboard MRT trains remain relatively uncommon in Singapore, where strict public order laws and surveillance systems are heavily enforced across the transport network.

The incident has nevertheless reignited conversations about commuter etiquette, anger management and passenger safety on public transport systems.

As of now, authorities have not publicly released further information regarding the altercation or whether investigations are underway.
