[Fire @ Block 682 Hougang Avenue 4]
At approximately 9.50pm yesterday (1 July), SCDF responded to a fire at the above-mentioned location.
Upon SCDF’s arrival, the fire was raging and thick black smoke was emitting from a 3rd floor unit. The fire involved contents of a bedroom.
Firefighters from Sengkang Fire Station donned breathing apparatus sets and extinguished the fire with a water jet. As a result of the fire, the entire unit was affected by heat and smoke damage.
One occupant from the affected unit had evacuated prior to SCDF’s arrival. He was assessed by an SCDF paramedic and conveyed to Singapore General Hospital for smoke inhalation.
About 25 people from the affected block were evacuated by the Police and SCDF as a precautionary measure.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
