The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority said in a statement on Facebook on 1 August that their officers at Marina South Pier foiled a smuggling attempt.
ICA officers at Marina South Pier foiled a smuggling attempt by a foreign sea crew member, who tried to bring in 100 duty unpaid cigarettes that were hidden inside a thermos flask.
The foreigner was issued with a composition fine for his offence.

On 25 July, ICA officers at Marina South Pier foiled an attempt to sneak in 100 duty-unpaid cigarette sticks hidden in a thermos flask. The flask belonged to a foreign sea crew member entering Singapore. He was issued with a composition fine for this offence.
As guardians of our borders, ICA will continue detect and deter smuggling attempts at the checkpoints to safeguard Singapore’s borders.
