FT SAYS DRINKING BEER IN S’PORE IS LIKE ‘PEEING MONEY’

I was so excited when I moved to Singapore. It was my first time going abroad to work and live, and I was ready to explore the city and try all the new foods and drinks.

However, I was in for a rude awakening when I first stepped foot in a bar.

“Wow, this beer is so expensive,” I exclaimed to my friends as I looked at the menu. “It’s like I’m peeing money!”

The bartender gave me a strange look before explaining that Singapore is known for having some of the most expensive alcohol in the world.

It’s not uncommon for a bottle of beer to cost upwards of ten dollars.

I was taken aback by this information. I had heard that Singapore was a pricey place, but I had no idea that the cost of drinking would be so high.

For the next few months, I stuck to drinking at home where I could buy cheaper beer. I also started to explore different bars in the city, searching for ones that had more affordable prices.

But no matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t find a place that sold beer for a reasonable price.

I kept hearing the same story: Singapore is an expensive city and the drinks are no exception.

I eventually gave up and resigned myself to the fact that the only way to drink in Singapore was to pay an arm and a leg.

I started to save up my money and would only go out to drink if I could afford it.

But then something strange happened. I started to realize that I was spending less and less time with my friends.

I was too preoccupied with saving money for drinks that I was missing out on the social aspect of life in Singapore.

The cost of drinking in Singapore has taken a toll on my social life. I’m now too worried about money to enjoy myself and it’s starting to be a struggle to find motivation to go out and socialize.

Drinking beer here is really so expensive that it’s like peeing money.
