FT WORKING IN S’PORE WANTS TO JOIN ISIS IN SYRIA ALONG WITH S’POREAN WIFE

A 33-year-old Malayan who is working in Singapore as a cleaner was arrested after he displayed evidence of radicalism and having the idea to join the terrorist group ISIS.

Mohd Firdaus Bin Kamal Intdzam was a big fan of the terrorist group ISIS.

How it started:

It all started in 2016 when Firdaus started to believed that it was compulsory for all able-bodied Muslim men should travel to Syria and fight alongside ISIS. He aspired to die as a martyr on the battlefield so as to receive divine rewards. He was also willing to carry out attacks against countries which he deemed to be oppressing Muslims.

His work pass was cancelled and send back to Malaysia and he is now under the custody of the Malaysia Special Branch for investigation

The Singaporean wife is still in Singapore

His 34-year-old wife Ruqayyah Binti Ramli, who is a Singaporean was placed under restrictions under the Internal Security Act (ISA). She works as a part-time freelance religious teacher.

Majis Uama Islam Singapura (MUIS) issued a statement on the wife stated that she was radicalised by her husband and her being a teacher poses a threat as her teachings could spread to others.

” Muis has always maintained that Islam and the Singapore Muslim community firmly rejects and condemn acts of violence in the name of religion. “ said MUIS

She is no longer allowed to conduct any religious classes.
